I've never played XIV but I'd name mine Commet!
Chocobug to go with my character's name.

I don't remember :( But I had an Italian theme going on so it would have been something that fit in with that I assume.
I don't have one yet, but when I get it I'm going to name it something cool.

Dee! I wanted to do Sweet Dee, but damn SE and their oppressive no spaces/double capitals. So just Dee. You know. I giant, flightless bird.
I named it Graceevia.
While leveling up my alt, I have named my alt's chocobo Chocobro, because why not.
When do you get your own chocobo, anyway?
L20, I believe. Keep churning through story and once you join a Grand Company, take the quest nearby called something like My Little Chocobo (I think) and it'll require 200 Grand Company seals to get the item that allows you to complete the quest, unlocking your chocobo.
At L30, you can then take on a quest (started at Camp Tranquil, if I recall correctly) that allows you to have your chocobo fight alongside you.

I named my Rantzien so I could throw snowballs at its face, take a screenshot and send it to him. I did it out of *love*.
