We all know characters above 30 are considered fossils in JRPGs, so we always have that grizzled veteran that is just so experienced in the party dispensing wisdom left and right (despite being like 5 years older than the protagonist). Which one did you like the best?

Cid Highwind is 32 and is considered a fossil.
So....if Square were to kidnap me and stick me in a game they would give me a hearing aid, glasses and a walking stick?
Its for these reasons Ive voted for Galuf.

Tellah was the best character in FFIV.
When I think about it, IV had a lot of these. Even Yang would qualify. And there's even more if you take the After Years into question

Of the list Cyan, if you had replaced Cyan with the true old guy of FFVI (Strago) then I would go with Cid Highwind, if you replaced Cid with the true old guy of FFVII (RedXIII) then Steiner from FFIX if you had included him, but if Steiner is replaced with Quina since he/she is older but doesn't fully qualify as a "guy", then RedXIII and if we're not counting RedXIII since he's 17 in dog years or whatever then Galuf.

While Cyan isn't technically the "old guy" of FFVI, and though there are more charismatic entires on this list than him, I voted for him anyway since he was an option. His side-plot is just too good and so heartbreaking. Also, the banter between him, Gau, and Sabin is just amazing.

My favorite one is Auron without hesitation.
Y'know, I thought the thread was just gonna be "favourite old guy party", and I was going to come in and make a lemon party joke, but then I realised A) it isn't, and B) I actually don't know what lemon party is and am just inferring from context.

I like Tellah the most, because he's super cranky and beats Edward with a stick.
Definitely Auron, though Galuf comes in a close second.
