Luna will join the party as a guest!

It's no secret that there has been significant backlash over the fact that there are no female characters within the party of Final Fantasy XV. That statement may not be completely true. As reported by Nova Crystallis, Luna is confirmed to make a guest appearance in the main party.

Tabata reassures us that we will be able to see Luna in action. So far her and one other character - that being Cor Leonis - have been confirmed as guest characters. The dircetor mentioned, however, that there is a difference in how these characters will feature in the party. Cor will be joining Noctis temporarily in a fight, while with Luna, it'll be the other way around - Noctis & co. will be assisting her in a battle that is already underway. No word on other guest party members, but perhaps we can expect more in the finished game? Aranea, anyone?

What do you think? Isn't it cool that we'll be able to be Luna's sidekick for some portion of the game? Any characters you're hoping will assist the boys on their road trip? Let us know!

I'm not really satisfied with having her as a guest character only. Pretty disappointed personally :/

I just wonder if this'll be a single instance, or if we'll get to join her more than once.

I'm personally pretty thrilled. I'm not mad that we have an all-male main party, since the theme of brotherhood is an interesting take for FF to take, but I have to say, Larsa as a guest character was one of the best parts of the game, just going to show that guests can be incredibly important to a story, awesome characters, and just being overall very memorable even though they're not in the party.

Sounds more like we'll be her sidekicks, and that's pretty cool.

Although without the ability to control other characters it's not all that meaningful gameplay wise. Remember when you had Beatrix in FFIX and she had all this high level skills that could kill everything in one hit? Hopefully she'll have some cross skills with Noctis at least.

Considering she seems to be the one who controls Leviathan in the trailers, I can only imagine what the sequence is going to be like when you team up with her. I'm with Fynn that the guest characters in XII were pretty badass, especially when Gabranth helps you out in the final boss battle.

I'm not mad that they made an all male party game, they did that with X-2 and they do all male/female parties in a few games. It just doesn't appeal to me personally because I find I generally can't get as invested without a female "avatar" so to speak. I'm still going to try it because I am surprised sometimes, like my favourite party members in FFIX are all male or non-gender specific (Quina) so it can happen that I find a male character to latch on to. It's just less likely for me personally so finding out the female character is only temp is a bit of a disappointment for me

Interesting, it doesn't really occur to me about 'attachment' when it comes to relating to video-game characters. I suppose it makes sense to attach to a same-sex avatar, but I don't really see a difference myself.

I am glad that she'll be a guest member, and moreover, that your party are more of the tag-alongs in that section.

If I couldn't get invested in something just cause there wasn't a lady avatar I wouldn't be able to read or enjoy most media. :gator:

This is exciting though. Not cause it's a lady but because we know at some point in the game we will get introduced to another playable person via combat. So our party isn't so small as we thought!

The latest Japanese trailer actually had footage of Cor fighting with the party!

That's good news. I enjoyed her recent appearance in the trailer and a trident wielding badass is more than welcome in my party.

That's good this is confirmed now, I guess. I could've sworn they'd said she would be a guest before but without as many details maybe? I do hope she is more on the same scale as Larsa as a guest character. He was always useful and was one of my favorite parts of XII.

Either way I'm probably going to be paying less attention to this forum or at least am going to avoid the trailers from the latest event. I want to save some surprises for when the actual game releases!

Eh, the Nova Crystallis article you linked to is from September 2015. Such was the case then but Tabata has said since then that Luna would be strictly an NPC and that she won't be joining the party as a guest.

If there are more guest characters in the game, keep it a secret Square.

My thoughts too. I guess they released this news due to the backlash of having an all-male cast, but I think most of us have moved on from that by now. Guest characters are great surprises to have in a game and I'd rather discover those moments for myself.

I'm a bit disappointed with the lack of main female party members (and characters over all) in the game, specially for and entry in the mainline FF series where there is even an unwritten tradition of sorts in having three main female characters you can play as.

As it seems the only female NPC on our side that is really involved with the story is Luna...well, there is also Cindy but she is obviously non playable and I doubt she will have much to do with the story besides upgrading the car. Gentiana I am practically convinced will be an NPC that ends up being one of the villains and Aranea is a recurring boss. Besides that what is there? We know Noctis mother is dead so there isn't that either.

Don't get me wrong, I am really looking forward to the game and have it pre-ordered already. But like maybee said, the lack of playable female characters is rather disappointing.

I'm kind of torn. I like the concept of the FFXV brotrip and everything they've shown so far (I'm really looking forward to the game actually!), but the female party members have often been some of the best in FF's history. I guess it is what it is - a one-off experiment. Don't mind too much as long as it's good.

Mixed feelings. I like the variety of characters in most FF games. But at the same time, that does lead to a very samey kind of social dynamic between the main party. The bro-trip thing is at least a new angle on it. I wouldn't want them to do that permanently though. And I doubt they would.

That's how I felt about FFX-2! And I'd loved Yuna in 10. Just didn't like how they changed her.

I think if it's ultimately a good game and story, you'll probably forget about it though. FFX-2 just wasn't that interesting a story.

No surprises allowed.
