The nominations are in! All 49 Ciddies (number 8 is still on vacation). So like, now it's time for the real voting and stuff! Remember, this time around you only pick one member per category from the ones listed. Best Member is the exception - pick your top three here and arrange them in order. PM your votes to the one and only Dude, Award Dude.

Voting is open until Friday, July 8th at 1 PM EDT. The Dude will not accept late votes unless you give him a heads-up earlier. The Revelations will take place on the next day, Saturday, July 9th at 8 AM EDT. Yes, we're starting early - don't wanna miss the best waves! Aww, my post got nominated. I didn't expect that at all :3: I feel like I should follow up on it. Last month was the most amazing time I've had in my life 1000x over, everything from all the places we went to see down to just relaxing at home and I can't get back to Norway soon enough. It's actually Mirage's turn to visit now though, he's probably coming next spring or summer (the sooner the better imho!).

Didn't make 'Best Veteran' this year. :shrug:

But I'm in the running for 'Best Writer', :dance: though I don't think I have the luck to win it twice in a row.

I used to do it all the time when I was an entitled 17/18 year old punk who judged my own self-worth on Ciddies wins, and over 10 years later I still cringe about it. Since then I never nominate myself and usually don't vote for myself unless there's some silly dumb award like me having wavy hair or making out with Sephex or whatever, because that's hilarious and fair play to whichever assholes out there made those jokes! It'd be embarrassing as smurf to do Best Member or Funniest Member or any of the others that really mean something though.

When I was Award Bloke I can tell you there were some Ciddies that were won by one vote by a self-voter.

Also I don't mean to make anyone feel like an asshole if they do it. I've been really fortunate to win more than my fair share of Ciddies so feel free to ignore my preachy self-righteous trout. If you come here day after day then you deserve recognition, and if you haven't had that I'm sorry.

I've also lost ciddies by one vote where I didn't vote for myself. No idea if those were tie-breaker ciddies, or if my vote would have forced a tie-breaker and how that would have went, but I usually just didn't vote for anyone in ciddies where I was nominated.

I sometimes vote for myself in categories I expect to get no votes so I can have at least one vote next to my name xD

Really though, if you vote yourself where you think you deserve it, or just want to win, or whether you like seeing if you can win without voting yourself or whatever... I don't think it's a huge deal. It's a fun little forum award. Do your thang

I think it depends on the category. If I'm like "heck yeah, my avy is super cool! It's a kawaii dragon! *self-vote*" on a more silly nom then yeah. but if it's something I feel, "well hmm someone is better than I am and they super deserve this vote, I don't deserve it." Then yeah I don't vote for myself.

I only ever wanted Best Member and Funniest Member. Now I've achieved both I don't need to vote for me anymore :p

I think I've voted myself on only a couple of occassions, I never do now, and didn't in this one! I would just feel rubbish if I won an award by one vote and it was mine, you know? I don't want it THAT badly that I will break a tie and take it from someone else, potentially. But then, like Psychotic I have won a lot of them, I have won all of the biggies I think and I'm always happy to see a wider variety of people win :)

At this point I'm only hanging around for a Lifetime Achievement Ciddie and if I ever get that then I shall retire from EoFF 5eva

Seriously though, I wish I hadn't voted for myself at all, now. Winning just because I voted for myself would suck.

I vote for myself quite a bit, honestly, but in all the cases that I won I was honestly going to win anyway judging by the number of votes, so I guess the lesson here is that I need to believe in myself - and that other people believe in me - more.

Where is my Grammy award

I remember this coming up in the Festival Committee page, actually. My response is the same: I don't self-vote or self-nominate out of principle, but that doesn't begrudge anyone who does. I pretty much agree with Freya. Nominating yourself is pretty harmless and if anything adds a quorum of potential voting choice. Voting for yourself is still within the rules, therefore I don't see any reason to dislike someone because of it.

I'd probably get more nominations or even outright Ciddies if I did self-vote, but I'd prefer it if I won because I was remembered and acknowledged without me nudging myself forward.

The Dude's official stance on self-voting and self-nominating is that you're all totally tubular no matter what you decide to do. Whether you want to help others more by not voting for yourself or you want to give yourself credit where you deserve it, it's all, like, equally fair. Sometimes you need to give yourself that pat on the back and stuff, and sometimes you feel like more of a giver. And stuff.

So like, the Dude says there's no one good way to vote! So a big thanks to all those who have voted so far and the Dude hopes he'll get even more votes by the deadline tomorrow!

If a president can/will vote for himself, I'm sure as hell voting for myself.

Got mine in, late today. Honestly, I hardly voted for myself this time around. Just for some of the silly ones. Just felt like the others deserved the other prizes way more.
