LIVE ACTION POKEMON. IT'S HAPPENING.
I am honestly not sure how to feel about this
This looks like trash.
Glorious, wonderful, marvelous trash.
PG Deadpool is definitely not what I was hoping for from a Pikachu
I cried at the trailer.
This is looking to be amazing and cute. Going to see this day one.
I love the Psyduck
Looks fun. I'm down.
I dig the comedy vibe. Also in some ways it reminds me of Who Framed Roger Rabbit, which is a good thing.
It unironically looks great
I did not expect to be this hype. I need this injected into me right now.
It looks absurd, but fun. I expect to be seeing this on the big screen for sure.
Looks silly, but I'm down to clown.
I still feel like Danny Devito should be the voice of Pikachu but this trailer looks amusing.
Or Jigglypuff
He's gonna depart by Leavin Town, you geddit.

I can totally see Danny Devito voicing of this.

Yeah, Danny Devito as Jigglypuff would be pretty hilarious. So would having Morgan Freeman voice a Psyduck.
I think this guy has pretty much nailed why I’m excited
15 minutes?! A reaction video to a trailer shouldn't be seven times longer than the trailer.
You sound like you’re new to reaction videos
Jesus, don't get on the wrong side of Jigglypuff! She'll sing you to sleep and then bury you in the woods.
I love Ryan Reynolds but he shouldn't be Pikachu. You know it's him... it's like when they had Kiefer Sutherland voice Snake.... you hear the actor as opposed to the character.
Will still watch it though :-)
Just gonna throw this in here instead of general gaming discussion.
Has anyone played Detective Pikachu on the 3DS? What did you think of it?
I have not, but I’d really like to one day
I own it and remember enjoying what I played of it. I didn’t play too much as I got distracted by life and just haven’t really been playing on my 3DS. My only real issue was that it was aimed for a younger audience and was way too easy, if I remember right.
That's never bothered me, to be honest. Even if I'm a fan of the actor or actress, I tend to be able to mostly forget and see them as the character. I enjoy being aware that it is an actor/actress I like, the same as I enjoy recognising them in live action, or knowing that a voice actor/actress of a character I like is now voicing another character in a different show (or always did.)
Basically, I'm still aware who they are, and don't mind, but can look past it enough to see the character - especially if it's obviously them, and in some cases, I even find it easy to forget it's them.
Pikachu said a swear.

all of my yes
It's all about hearing the trying story of becoming Pikachu.
I think this is everything i need in my life right now.
The movie got leaked. Whatever you do, do not watch it. I'm posting it so you know what not to watch. Definitely do not watch this leak.
suddenly i'm not on board
uncanny valley, yikes
After release weekend, I'll be interested to see the reviews of longtime Pokemon fans vs just kids and adults who wanted to see an adorable flick. Especially if there are a number of inside jokes, it's inevitable long time fans will get a special appreciation from it.
I just saw it this morning and I've got a few spoiler free thoughts.
I enjoyed it for the most part. It was fun and heartwarming, as you might expect.
Was it PG Deadpool? Not really. If your qualifier is just that Ryan Reynolds has to be sarcastically funny, than I mean, it's hard to say no. But in terms of content, this movie is pretty much through and through a kid's movie. There aren't really any jokes that are a wink for the adults watching, maybe 1 or 2.
I'd say there were a few insider things you'd catch if you're a Pokemon fan, but you can pretty much go in blind to watch a movie where people live with cute CGI friends.
The score was awesome.
My theater gave out Pokemon cards so that was prime choice
Yooo this trout was off the chain! I loved it! The first good Hollywood movie based on a video game.! I wasn't going to see it unless the reviews were good and they were. Fan service all day in there.
I really didn't expect to see a bunch of children in my theater. I thought children now didn't care about Pokemon. I'm going to see it again when there are less of them there. I have a ton to say about this movie, but I'll split it in separate posts.
My kids are 5 and they are obsessed with pokemon. It's pokemon all day every day in my house. So of course I took them to this movie. I liked it and they loved it. They did a good job integrating pokemon into the real world. The designs were cute, especially bulbasaur and comfey. I would have liked to see them include more species and a few more easter eggs but there was enough for me to enjoy it. Some cool twists too!
I liked the twist that the dude with the pointy ears, he was Ryan Reynolds the whole time.
Edit: also, last night I guess in anticipation for the movie, I had a dream that despite the realistic graphics of the Pokémon, they were still using the sound effects from Red and Blue.
Very cute movie. My husband and I for some reason were surprised to see children at this children's movie. We were pretty much the only adults there without kids. I didn't know kids were still into Pokemon this much, I guess I shouldn't be surprised!
It was OK, fun seeing all the pokemon and Ryan Reynolds was good value but Zootopia and Who Framed Roger Rabbit did this stuff a lot better.
It was actually pretty damn good! I went in expecting a hot mess, but it was actually a fully cohesive, engaging film which was consistently good throughout and had some really great moments.
Saw this with Denmark today for his birthday. It's actually excellent. Those who are friends with me on FB know I got pissy because there was only one other person in the theatre and they sat directly behind me and continued to sniffle every 10 seconds. Sniffling is literally the worst sound to my ears, so Denmark and I moved to the front of the theatre....
Denmark and I lost our trout laughing at the part with Ludicolo being a spaz, and the whole interrogation of Mr. Mime.
I ironically called the twist about halfway through, and Denny just went "noooooooo". When it turned out to be true, I was just like YESSSSSSS, I win. Look how SMART I am for figuring out the plot to a children's movie.
Overall, it was freakin' adorable, and the plot was surprisingly solid. We very much enjoyed it, and I can't wait for Detective Pikachu 2.
