Oh... dear
oh no
lol
ouch
It looks like it'll be fun.
Hell is empty, and all the devils are here.
F U C K i came
I certainly watched the trailer with my eyes
Mind you, not like the Sonic franchise or video game films have a very good track record anyway
Sega: After nearly 20 years of fumbling we finally got our blue boi back on track with Sonic Mania, how do we follow that up?
Also Sega:

It doesn't look quite as bad as I expected, but my expectations were incredibly low.
Looking on the plus side of the trailer, at least James Marsden's looking cute
The fact they chose Gangsta's Paradise makes me so much happier than I deserve to be. What good in life did I do to end up in this timeline?
I can't sleep as I'm terrified sonic is going to steal my teeth
Jim's version of Dr Robotnik is going to save this movie I feel. Well, not completely rescue it.
This looks like the perfect movie to see in an empty theater with friends and have some Mystery Science Theater fun.
Nintendo: Oh man, Hollywood smurfed up the Mario movie so bad, I don't think any other property could be worse...
Sega: Hold my beer...
Dragonball Evolution: Not a bad start guys!
Legend of Zelda next. CGI Link (but everyone calls him Zelda lmao) drops into the real world and mishaps are had when a straightfaced human sidekick tries to direct him to his destiny of beating bowser (played by danny devito if we have a merciful god). mmm yes please
Don’t forget that the trailer music for that has to be Backstreet’s Back (Alright)
ngl would have popped if they'd faked on gangsta's paradise and played amish paradise instead
It's funnier they didn't. Playing it straight works better here than playing a parody song. It's like people who use the "this is cropped porn, isn't it?" tag on Facebook. Congratulations, you've instantly made the joke unfunny.
Looks terrible and I'm just talking about the title.
I honestly don't see all the negativity for movie Sonic's design to be honest. Yes, it's a different design, but I can still tell it's him (like if you showed it to me out of context when I had no knowledge of their even being a Sonic the Hedgehog movie, I'd still know who it was.) The only problem I have with it is that he has lace-up shoes - why would he wear something that could easily slow him down? Other than that, I'm fine with his look.
Either way, whatever I end up thinking of this movie, I'll probably find at least something to use in my Sonic-related project, so I benefit from the movie either way.
If you showed me a vaguely blue shape with red shoes I would "know it was Sonic." That's not a very high bar.
Due to all the feedback, the design is going to be changed.

To be perfectly fair to the film. While Robotnik/Eggman is a bit too cartoonish, I feel they have him and Sonic down pretty decently. Really, my only real beef here is that we're doing the whole "Master's of the Universe" nonsense again where it looks like both characters were accidentally transported to our world, because it's cheaper and easier to film a live action piece with a cgi character than actually trying to take Sonic's cracktastic plot lines (not like he hasn't had half a dozen soft reboots as well as alternate timeline shenanigans when you try to bring the comics into this) and try to make a sensible film about it that average audiences with rudimentary knowledge of the franchise can stomach.
I mean, I don't even feel like this is a train wreck, because let's be honest here, the franchise has been one for a number of years now.
Also, don't forget Sonic doesn't have white hands. He wears smurfing gloves. They better sort this out too.
Yeah, but the difference between this Sonic and the usual designs are so minor to me. It's like when the Skylanders Spyro appeared - it was still obviously him and the design change wasn't so drastic he was unrecognisable, that's basically what I see with this Sonic.
Moving to February 2020 so they can re-design Sonic - will still be terrible
I for one cannot wait until Ace Ventura 3 hits theaters.
Did you have to Google that or did you actually watch it?
I haven't watched it, but I was aware that it existed.
I mean honestly, the film looks more like a Howard the Duck redo than a sequel to Ace Ventura.
The Aladdin Remake doing well, makes me think that they should of said "smurf it", and do no changes whatsoever, because people are going to go see the movie anyways, looking like Will Smith Blue Smurf trash or not.
Yeah, that's my view on it - they should just gone with it as they originally designed Sonic. People might have gotten used to it in the long run, or at least acknowledged that the exist of this Sonic doesn't mean that Sonic's usual look is never going to be used again. I still don't find the look as bad as people are making it out to be - fan made ideas look better to me, other examples of a 3D Sonic look better to me, but it still isn't horrendously un-Sonic like to me as it is others, and again - it's how they envisioned him, so yeah... they should have committed.
Also, I watched at least some of the trailer some time ago, and while, again, if it's their vision, that's what they should do, but I have to ask... why "Gangster's Paradise"? It's a good song, but I don't see how it fits in to Sonic at all - even Shadow would find this trailer too much of an edge-attempt. Unless there's another reason for song that I've missed.
Again, do what you want to do when it's your movie, but it seems like an odd choice (and I know trailers often have a song that, to my knowledge, isn't in the movie, but it usually still somewhat fits.)
