Going around the swear filter
Signature limits. Leeza's one-woman crusade on them was legendary.
Judging from the storage costs BoB posted in the other thread, maybe she saved him hundreds of dollars in the long run!
- At one point wasn't it 60x60 or something extra small like that? It was not 100x100 when I joined
- Oh and the signatures couldn't be larger that 50kb!
- Displayed post counts for sure.

I know there's more I'm forgetting
I really hated "Moogle hugs" as the name for the rep system.
My typos on news articles
above-the-quote vs. below-the-quote
winning ciddies
building a front-site
trying to impress kirobaito with my academic/musical achievements
my intense jealousy of rye and miriel
Fluffy Puff vs. Under the Sea, AKA fixed-width vs. full-width forum skins
Getting GIFs added as emoticons
oh man, who was that kid whose avatar I changed to a huge pic of Tifa? He got a lot more upset about it than I expected.

Just reading "100x100 avatars" made my spine flinch. I remember there was a period when like 50% had 100x100 avatars and the other 50% had 60x60 avatars. It irked me a lot and it feels weird now that it did.
Also, when we started adding smileys that were much larger than a text line, so it would break paragraphs up. I felt my life spiraled out of control.
and when we banned people for posting "porn". Porn being microsoft paint titties and plastic boob aprons.
Thread necroing
Now, if someone brings up an old topic I think we're just glad they're talking about something.
My personal list includes the EoFF wiki, which I think is a rare one among folks.
Here's a good joke answer, though: Final Fantasy
I loved the wiki! It was a sign that I had been accepted into the group
The Chrono and VG Music forums. Not to mention whether we should merge the bottom forums or not. Raistlin's pimp smiley.

Another Leeza classic is being adamant that you don't change your name.
You get to do it (maybe once?) and then you're denied all future name changes.
I'm Lone Wolf Leonhart to this day because Leeza said if I changed my name people wouldn't know who I am anymore. It'd be harder to keep track of people, etc.
RIP to whoever I was going to be.
I miss Joel and Kane fights. and HOOTERS. Those were the good ol days.
Visitor message used to be called user notes.
The cool kids hang out there.
Anyone remember the fake weddings? I remember me and Zeldy were going to get Married and it was a bait and switch where I was actually getting married to Dan but Dan didn't show up so I married LMA... We really upset Zeldy and it wasn't nice, I remember sleeping through the start of it because it was in the middle of the night in Australia but I got woken up my pings om Y!M.
Remember when you could play triple triad against other members? That was pretty cool.
Also, visitors messages.
Fun fact, when I joined in 2000 you were allowed one thread to celebrate a postcount achievement. You could only do it once, but you could make a thread that was like "I just made my 1,000th post!" and people would celebrate or make fun of you or something. I remember Acmlm and Drex, or at least I think it was those two, that would be at the top postcount at that ime.
Oh yeah, and no custom avatars. At least not until you hit 1500 posts I think? For a good while, your avatar was based on a rank that came from your post count.
I remember Del Snizz having his Homer Simpson avatar and thinking how weird it looked in the sea of FF themed ones.
I just made my 1015th post!
I remember back when html wasn't disabled in posts and I would destroy the forums by closing a few tags and then reopening them.
I also remember when we had a lucky egg hunt and I got one that changed my same, and was able to convince Leeza to change my name to this instead of changing it back.
I remember the old html wars. I remember switching sides when Rantz convinced me you could do it all with bb code without the gigantic security risk. I also remember making the qwerty tag. :)
Making sure my text was one point smaller than average, centered, and colored. (Ripped off Rye with that but would never admit it then.)
Being mad if a newbie I liked didn't get cookie'd and s3x0r'd in a timely fashion.
I remember fighting very hard for and eventually getting an RP space. Ah, the days of Forum RP. I now feel old. And apparently it's still a thing here, so legacy hell yeah!
I was looking around at my old attachments and apparently I was proud of being the top poster 10 years ago. :shobon:
Good ol' elections. A great excuse to spam up the place if there ever was one.
Also so much fun, even rereading some of those threads is a blast. The funny thing is that technically I'm still the VP of the forums. :zombie:
Candlejack
Hey, nothing beats a good candlejack joke. Just like rick rolls, it's always fu

I never understood the appeal of fluffy puff. It's cute yeah but if i'm gonna sit here a while I ain't tryin to squint when I read all your messages.
Dark mode on every website.

I miss using html to make the smileys big to emphasize my emotions. I mean I could have just downloaded them, blown them up in paint or something, uploaded to photobucket, then insert the image, but that's a lot more work.
I miss all the shenanigans that would happen on irc.
- Posting 'off topic' in the Feedback Forum
...actually, Feedback was so much fun, I think I'll bring it back!
Oh man, Feedback. There was probably a time where I posted more in Feedback than most of the other forums (outside of GC and EoEO).
heh yeah I had some fun in feedback.
I don't think my heart can take it if we lose the feedback forum again. Again.
Stupid stuff we used to care about.....

Being excited when you see an old friend post in threads
Del Murder
Being upset at people who have great old friends, who show up out of the blue to post, and they have a great nostalgic feeling remembering all the good times they had, and not personally getting to experience it and feeling jealous, because no one wants to be friends with you, so you just cry until the sun goes down, and miss dinner, and it's too late to order take out, so you just eat cold spaghettios straight from the can, and try to drown your feelings by watching reruns on Adult Swim that you've already seen ten times, until you finally are too exhausted to stay awake anymore and pass out just before the sun comes up.
Retweet if ya feelin this.
Members would criticise me for using one of the standard FF avatars. I didn’t use an “original” one so I wasn’t cool.
Well f**k them (sorry, swear filter). Tonberry is mine now and no-one is taking him away from me.
Oh wow, that's a big deal! I'm glad you're happy with it. I couldn't do that; I'm now pretty consistently in 3 fantasy football leagues, though god knows what will happen this year.
Wow, that's someone I haven't seen in... nearly 15 years? Jesus.
It was partly because of my wife, actually. She noted that it was a little uncomfortable about how angry football would make me. I would never have taken it out on her, of course, but stepping back and looking at it from her shoes, it must have seemed very irrational. So yeah, right then and there I decided I wouldn't watch it any more. During the first season away I'd find myself sneaking peeks at the results online, but by now, I don't ever even think of it. I honestly couldn't tell you what the Lions record was last year. I'm pretty sure they didn't win the Super Bowl, I would have probably heard about that.
Our internet ego. Pretty sure that is what leads to a lot of drama and people leaving. It is probably Quin spending time wanking as a staff instead of mediating such dispute that result in this apocalyptic state we are in right now. :(
This is the perfect response and sums it up well for me.
Dude, I've changed my name almost every year on the year. I think Leeza just had it out for you.
The only time I got rejected was when Del refused to change it to Flambard D'Quinceteth because he didn't like it and is a tyrant who must be overthrown, but that crime was rightly corrected and marked in the annals of the wiki... which has suspiciously since been destroyed.... :shifty:
Specifically having friends I talked to here - it used to really drag me down that I didn't have too many people IN the forum that I'd chat with on the regular. Almost two decades later and I shoot the trout daily with half a dozen EoFFers.
This would have been the year for watching the Lions. It's a travesty that they aren't still in it to win it.
Whether you make it to Staff?
I definitely remember how hard Tavrobel and I campaigned for 100x100 avatars.
I consider it a job well done. :P
Now that Del is more than an Admin I think I have a strong ally for enforcing 60 x 60 again.
With modern resolutions, 60x60 may as well be microscopic!
I remember when it was 80x80 I suggested increasing it by 1 pixel at a time per year. So we may be at 100x100 now regardless.
Del refused to change my name to Flambard D'Quinceteth and made up a nonsense excuse about character limits. :colbert:
Jiro represented my case in the Member Wiki, and then it was purged. :doublecolbert:
