Can't say this is an original idea, RSL was the first one to do it a long time ago, but he had a good idea. Could an Admin set my post count to 0 please?

What would that do for you? Just curious.
Just to show post counts don't matter, I guess. Plus it's easier to blend in, so to speak. Keeps people honest.
Like, forever to 0, or start back over?
I'd hate for you to get deleted in one of our many cleansweeps of zero post members.
Just start back over would be good.
EDIT: Thank you Sean.
This is what I came to this forum to post a question about, and then I saw this topic. That's interesting. It makes the top 25 list of posters look so empty, without you, Dr Unne.
Actually, the most disturbing part is the fact that you can "search for all posts by user" and come up with a huge number, but it says you've only posted 4 times. Your post per day count is 0.00.
I'm not sure how exactly it helps you blend in, though, since *most* people know you, and I think it will just make your real total post count even more legendary.
I was about to post a thread since I noticed you were back to 0. Anyway it was a good idea Dr Unne, this way youll be able to look like any other newbie
Pfft, no. Spuuky's right, I think; the real Unne total post count will be even more legendary now. The one that he arranged to get changed. :rolleyes2Quote:

I also agree with Spuuky that the list of top posters looks horrendously empty without Unne's presence. It's horrible. It's like banning the words "peace" and "trout" from use on the fora.
Oh, wait. That's already been done, too. :mog:

Why do people look at that top 25 posters thing anyways? It doesn't matter. It's pointless. If people don't know me by who I am rather than by some number attached to my name, then I don't want to be known.
I guess it's a sign of how active one has been on the fora. I think it's a rather pointless stat, myself, though I do like to marvel at how many posts I have compared to veterans who have been here for many years. ;)

Let's everyone reset their post counts then. Who wants to join me?
Id do it if I was well know by other members wich isnt the case... Maybe The Man should do it :)
OOC: Nah, not yet. Maybe when I'm the highest poster with like 5500 posts I'll think about it. There's only nine people in front of me now if you don't count Unne anymore. Besides, my post count will climb back up to where it is now in like two months anyway, if my current posting rate keeps up. :p

*gives up*
I'm sorry, Dr Unne. *hugs*Quote:

Hey, I wouldn't care.
I have like 0.002 posts per day, go for it if you want.
Wipe my record!
I remember when I had my post count reset, that started off a trend where people had their post counts set to all sorts of weird things.
Britt now has 18,352 posts. *nods* That cheater.

The Man
I would join Unne but I am already pratically a newbie my self and not known like he is. I will just keep my post count now.
*boundless talent*
After I get sick of having a five-digit post count, I'll send mine back to zero, too.
RSL deserves at least 30000 posts, don't you think? I do.
I'll give you a few months and you'll surpass that without cheating ;)Quote:

Pfft. I'm not that fast. It'd take me at least a year or two to reach that height, I'm sure. And then Britt could make his total 65,535 if he really wanted to smite me.Quote:

But it's only temporary anyway. :p
And Unne: I agree.

30,442 to be exact. Or 47.
OOC: I only used it for a quiz I'm gonna post here soon. [/shameless plug]Quote:

Wow! Dr. Unne, you're so...so...legendary!!
*joins the party* Delete mine too! XD
[edit] No, wait. I changed my mind. I only have 500 posts as it is...Xp

I was gonna ask for a large negative post count, but I see that doesn't seem to work, not in my copy of vB anyway :D Meh, ignore me for now then :p
Yes, okay. Can someone reset my count as well? It'll only take me about 3.4 years to get back to [insert current post count here] at my posting rate.
It's possible. :p I just don't know how, yet, but I've seen it before on EoFF. :DQuote:

Heck, if it's possible, then can I have some large negative fractional post count please? As long as it doesn't mean I get deleted with 0-posters, of course :)
I think it might only be possible by hacking, crono_logical. Don't remember for sure though.
I'm glad at least a couple people share my sentiments. Don't you think it'd be great if no one even remembered how many posts other people had? Then we might *gasp* actually have to get to know each other before we cast judgment based on a silly number. For the people who say "Oh, I only have 500 posts, I can't do it", well, what better way to become known than by showing that you're above this mindset of more posts = better person?
If an Admin could do this for the people who want it done, it'd be much appreciated. Sorry if it's a lot of work.
Yes, I must admit that I just end up feel intimitated by some members with xxxx posts. I've always liked the way the post counts here at EoFF aren't on open display, but they still have a huge effect on what the people around here think of other members.Quote:

Thanks in advance to whichever Admin removes my count :) .
I'm thinking this thread is more deserving for Feedback now after the turns its taken - it's not as if Unne needs help anymore with getting his post count changed :p
*moves*
Why do people place so much precedent on post counts? I post when I have something to say...no more, no less.
I feel sad for people who post just for the sake of posting.
Cheers.
I openly admit that I like to look at the Top 25 Posters thing. But... I mean, I don't really care who's on it. I just like to see where I am on it. *shrugs* I know people with less than 100 posts, and I don't know people with over 3000 posts. Don't care too much.
Well, I was just thinking, you guys are all clearing thousands of posts, and me? I only have 500-some odd, so that doesn't really make a statement.Quote:

But, hey, if it matters to anyone, then by all means, clear my posts too ^^
I agree with Unne. Post counts are meaningless. So why not make mine 1 million? It's meaningless, right?
I wouldn't mind two million myself. Ah, that's the stuff.Quote:

Eh, now that I think about it, 3,136 wouldn't be too bad either. That's a nice number... oh, wait. I already have 3,136 posts at least. *dies* Nah, I'm fine where I am. It's a meaningless number anyway.

The Man
I think you're all rediculous for even caring enough to mess with it. :rolleyes2
I've made my own decision...
Leave my post count where it is. I'm fine with that. But change my date of registration to March 13, 1602, if that's possible, or the same date in 1902 if it isn't (and 1952 if 1902 isn't possible). Having 31 posts per day, even if I have them honestly, has gotten somewhat old. I'm sick of being noticed solely because of how quickly I post. I'm also sick of racing against my own past post-per-day rate. I want to say that it has no effect in my mind, but I'm sure that, much as I don't want it to, it still does.
So yeah. If some Admin would change my registration date, I'd be much obliged. But I do want to keep it similar to March 13, 2002 if at all possible -- that way you folk will know which day I came around. Sort of. :p
Peace
The Man
That's a sneaky way of you trying to get your custom rank early, The Man. :D And I'm not sure if you can set dates before 1970 :p
Bleh, I don't really care about the rank. In fact, if you people care that much, then I'll just not use the rank until I've actually earned it legally. Or not for a few months anyway, though having the status "Evil Rabite" sounds pretty tempting. :pQuote:

Well, in that case, 1972 would be a nice year. That was the year Dark Side of the Moon was recorded. *rocks out*Quote:

Pfft, nah. They're both administrators, for starters, so it's easy to find 'em.Quote:
But I forgot that Sean's date was pre-1970. I knew that Bleys' was, though.
Well, either way, I'm sick of having 31 posts per day, but I don't mind my post count, so I want my registration date changed.

They're both 1/1/1970 to me, so I guess it must be your time zones causing it to display differently. :)
That would do it.Quote:

Hey... I guess that means we could keep switching our time zones to figure out the exact hour someone registered. Rawk. Not that I could be bothered to try that or anything.

So if your post count will be zero will it delete all your past post? And can the post count be increased if you're an admin...? just curious...
I didn't want people to start doing THIS. Blah. *gives up*
I don't see where it matters how many posts you have, don't have, or how many you have per day.
The Man, do you really think changing your date will stop you from posting as often? I'm sure you don't want your number of posts playing a role in how often you post, but if you feel it already does, then how will changing the number of posts/day help? I'm sure you remember how many it is right now, and seeing another number, I don't think, will make a difference at all.
Like many people, I cared how many posts I had too. Way back when we had post counts and the titles based on those, I tried to get to the immortal rank. I don't recall if it was 1000 or 10,000 posts, maybe someone whos been here longer than I can clear that up. I'm thinking that it was 1000, for 10,000 seems a bit high, but I digress. It was then I realized that although I had quite a few posts, I still knew no one, and new people were becomeing more and more well known. That is when I stopped careing how many posts I had. Maybe everyone needs to go through something similar, or have just the opposite happen to learn that posts really don't matter, it's how you present yourself and act towards others that really matters.
Oh, but it does. I wouldn't be seeing "Oh, my post count rose by .08 ppd today." Plus, I'm sick of hearing people say "Look at this n00b with 31 posts per day!" I'd rather be judged on my post quality, not post rate.Quote:

As for the rest of your post, however, I agree with it. I already know quite a lot of people here, though, I think. :D

Then stop posting so much?Quote:

But don't really do that. If it makes you feel any better I think of your quality far above your quantity. And I ain't no kiss-ass, so take that to heart.

Still, I don't want any attention for my post rate anymore. Sure, people could look at my first post date and do the math themselves if my registration date got changed, but it would have much the same effect as Unne resetting his post count -- people would have to look beyond what they were told in my profile. :D Of course, it could also make me legendary for lowering my post-per-day count, but still... &rolleyes2

Dr Unne, you've single-handedly started an EoFF Revolution.:pQuote:

Uhh, is there any way to make the post count that symbol for infinity?
Yes, vBulletin stores dates as UNIX timestamps, and the earlies UNIX timestamp is 12:00 AM, January 1, 1970, GMT. I think I set mine in AST, though :(.
Actually, it might be possible to store the timezone as a negative integer, but I think the UNIX timestamp standard is unsigned long; That one bit for the sign would double the positive range of the data type.
