The Next Installment of the EoFF Screen Name Tournament

:D It's back! Well, this time around, I've gone around and collected lots of names. in fact, I have 256 names this time around, so it'll be a whole lot different then the last one, which had just 100 names. :laughing:

So, anyways, I'll be starting the next one as soon Red Wizard finishes with his EoFF Triathalon.

Anyways, there has been, how many winners in the past Screen Name Tournaments? Seven I believe. I do believe they would be the following: Big Ogre Umaro, Rydia of Mist, Chickencha, Kawaii Ryûkishi, Mikztsu, Aexoden, and finally Crunchy Beverage.

Anyways, I'll just get this thread started, so I won't forget to do so after Red finishes. Anyways, the total names in this tournament is 256. I will not list the names right now, because the list is rather huge, so I'll save it for later when this tournament really starts. :)

Anyways, if you have anything to say about this, please reply.

Are you going to do it like a real tournament this time with one on one matches all the way down to the last two or are you going to do it in groups again.

I would prefer it to be in one on one style.

256 -> 128 -> 64 -> 32 -> 16 -> 8 -> 4 -> 2 -> WINNER!

That would be cooler. And of course it would be divided into bigger brackets over all.

Oh, I have it all under control. Thanks for the offer though. I'm going to do it like this.

256 names, divided into 8 groups of 32 names.
Each group will be divided into four smaller groups of 8 names. Then, I take the top 4 names of each group and group them into 4 groups of 8 names, and then I take the top two of each group and I start the Match-ups. :D

So the first two rounds will be World Cup based, and when I have 64 names remaining, you'll have the bracket match-ups, similar to the Final Four. ;)

Sounds good, for anyone who doesn't know though, the screen name competition is simply a ompetition to see who has the best screen name, the organiser, Proto, will decide who will be in it (probably all of the regulars) and names are aranged into groups and whitled down until one remains and stands victorious.

I would just like to add something though. I like the screen name tourney. In fact, it is one of my favorite things here.

But there is ONE problem that ALWAYS happens.

Most people don't judge the actual NAMES. It seems like a popularity contenst. I don't have a problem with people being popular here but people really should judge the name, not the person. :)

Unfortunately, a lot of you here are correct in saying that people only judge the person. Perhaps we should all try to vote for the name this time, ignoring the personality behind it. That would be fair, wouldn't it?

I approve of voting for names rather than people.

I prefer names that are... I don't know, not real things, like objects (Crunchy Beverage), but sound somewhat namelike, rather than title-like. I will never vote for a name with numbers or underscores. I don't vote for names because they're "clever." I vote for names I think sound good, and roll rhythmically from the tongue. That's why I'd always vote for a name like "Calliope" before I'd vote for "Spaceman Spiff," or "Yamaneko" before "Ifrit's Bodyguard." Thankfully for them, my lack of knowledge of other languages helps those people who have, say, Japanese names, despite the fact that they might actually mean something like "Cute Dragon Knight" if they were translated.

That being said, I still think edczxcvbnm should win. I like the way it sounds when I say it, okay?
