All I'm saying is that his main problem with FFX was that it teaches that pagan (or, more importantly, non-Christian) beliefs are good.
The comparison with Medieval: Total War is that a rather large portion of the game revolves around the smiting of the enemies of God, those who do not follow pagan beliefs. Whilst perhaps my statement was slightly over the top, that was it's intention... (my apologies once again for my attempts at humour...)
Though, this done bring up another, ever-so-slightly FF related question...
In medieval times the Papacy outlawed the use of crossbows, because they were a very strong weapon which could be used by anybody with only a few months training, whilst bows took years to master, and could be used to kill a knight through rather thick armour...
However, the weapon weapon itself was not outlawed, just the use of it against fellow Christians. The use of crossbows against Muslims was still allowed.
The question is this: would it have been okay to use magic, a pagan devilry, in battle against non-Christians?
(SPOILER)In FF10, when the team started going against the teachings of Yevon they were excommunicated, even though they working towards Yevon's goals. Is this inflexibility a downfall of the beliefs of Yevon, or is it good that they stick to their beliefs no matter what, unlike Christianity with it's constant double-standards and hypocracy?
Whilst I agree that people are entitled to their opinions, they must realise that their opinion is not the only one; I always try to consider every viewpoint, though I admit it is difficult. I only wish this author would have done the same.
This isnt a rant solely about Christians, it's about all people who act in that manner. Even a Christian friend of mine agrees that this kind of article does no good for either those who read it, or those it represents...

FFX Kinda showed how bad power when left to a few unchecked can become a nasty thing.
And what's so bad about being a Pagan?

A review is supposed to whether the game is good or not. This person obviously focused more on the content than the actual gameplay. Sure there were things I disliked about the game, but if I focus on those traits then of course I would hate the game. Who cares if Lulu's attire was a bit revealing? That has nothing to do whatsoever with making the game bad. Also he/she must not be familiar with fiction/fantasy. The purpose of it is to be creative and introduce new concepts and ideas. Did he/she want the game to be 100% realistic? Anyone that close-minded will surely miss out on some good games.
The author of this article is missing one of the words in the title of this game, Fantasy. You cannot compare the religious system of this real world with the religious system of the Spira fantasy world. While the Yevon religion resembles greatly paganism, this game is in no way going against any religious belief that is currently practiced today. This game in my opinion is not attempting to show any type of religion, it is attempting to show religious corruption, which whether you like it or not is a reality and has been a reality probably every since religion was religion. This game is not portraying a religion as being good or bad, it's portraying those in power abusing their power, as religion in this game (and in reality) is used in large part as a form or social control. The author of this article completely missed that and focused on the parts of the game instead of the game as a whole, which is probably the same thing that the author of this article does with the Bible.

Yes this man is wrong, yes he's uneducated, but have you noticed most of the things that have been said in this thread? Your post is remarkably well balanced, but some cruel and closed-minded things have been said about religion in this thread.
I'd say to this man the same thing I'd say to some of the people in this thread. If you dont like it, dont expose yourself to it. Let people do and believe what they want, unless it starts hurting others, and don't fight closed-minded attitudes with equally closed-minded words. Tolerance is a two way street. Dont expect a group of people to be accepting of your beliefs if you cant show a little acceptance for theirs. :)

I may have missed something but the point of the site is to tell Christian parents who want to raise their kids that way which games will expose children to things that don't follow the Christian moral code.
Now honestly I object to raising children like that, but he believes he should and it's his duty to protect the next generation from sin (I imagine).
If you have a problem with Christianity or censorship then thats an EoEO matter. His opinions on the game and that review are perfectly justified from his standpoint.
EDIT: I suppose I should write his interpretation of Christianity for now instead of actual Christianity. Though that's a disclaimer, I haven't seen anything too far from the Bible yet.
Nope, you're pretty much right. But it is sort of an interpretation, because in the days in which the Bible was written, of course games like FFX werent around. Is it a sin to have pretend people use pretend magic? I dunno. I certainly dont think so. But maybe it is. And that was a wonderful answer, Phoenix.
Things like sorcery and violence are prohibited in the Bible, and they are considered sins. There are many Christian magazines that review movies, video games, and such from a Christian viewpoint. This guy didnt do too good of a job in my opinion, I've found better reviews myself, but yeah, it's his point of view, and the p.o.v. of many others. *shrugs*

I've looked at the site in more detail, and yes he DOES play the games, or at least does very in depth research. I was expecting him to slip up on Enter the Matrix, because a lot of things are overlooked, but he mentioned everything.

if he was complaining of the three instances of when theres blood in FFX, wonder how he felt about FF7... (just reviewing the Shinra building part would give him a fright) or the other FF's.. tho i dont remember that much blood in the others..
