Espers.
damnit i did forget somethin
I'm old schooled, so I call them Espers or "Summoned Monsters"...
Whatever they're called, I liked the FFVIII Guardian Forces the best, both in name and in appearance. :)
If we are just talking about the word for the summons, I liked "Aeons" the best it sounds pretty, and very fantasy-ish, can't think of a word.
"Guardian Forces" is too long, and gf = girlfriend
Eidolons is also quite a good name but kinda hard to say, aeons is nice and simple but sounds cool.
Although in general conversation I usually call them "summons" whichever game I'm talking about. :p
Aeons. Why? Two reasons. First, you can control them like charcters. That was cool. Second, I have no experience with those others. :greenie: Still, cant's beat those Aeons.
Vote Aeon!!!
I voted aeons since i like the sound better but i too usually refer to them in general as summons, unless i'm with paul who knows loads about every final fantasy so i have to specificly name them espers or GFs etc
keep it easy. summons
Offhand, I call them Genjû. It's really their correct name, and it's easy to say besides.
I prefer Eidolon(s).
'Eidolon' has the advantage of sounding like a rip-off of 'Pokemon', yet really being an old English word for 'phantom' or 'spirit'.
I prefer 'summon monsters', or 'summon spells', generally, but in each specific game, I use the appropriate name - such as GF in FFVIII, Eidolons in FFIX.
Summon sounds the best to me....thats probably because I played FF since the first one.
Espers.
Aeons. They sound the best and you can use them as atucall charicters.
Summons, Phantom Beast is alright. I'd just prefered that they had kept Summons throughout the series.
Espers
Summons only cause I play alot of online rpg's and just a few other like psx rpgs before I picked up my first ff (ffviii, but now have played them all :)) but they were all considered summons in those game's, so it just came natural to me to call them summons.
Aeons just sounds cool, and Eidolon is very fantasy so it's a toss up between those two.
That or "Phantom Beast," which is a rough translation of "Genjû" (it can also be translated as "Fantastic Beast," but that sounds a bit crappy).Quote:

I'd appreciate it if someone would add the other options to the poll so I could vote (hi Kishi).
OOC: Y'know, there's already an option for people who don't like the other choices.
Summons.Final Fantasy VII got me into saying 'summons'.It stuck.now they are all 'summons
aeons for me but what are Genjû
and espers
Genju is the Japanese term for Espers, which are the summons from Final Fantasy 6.
Genjû is actually the term used for all the summoned creatures throughout the entire series, not just FFVI.
This is a simple part of every FF game so why confuse it with names. They are all summoned no matter what there called. thus there called Summons.:mog: :choc:
I tend to use "summon" just as a generic term for any summon-able creature in the series, but I think Espers sounds the best.
Summons, or 'elemental spells on steroids'.
"Summons" or "Summoned Monsters" is what I usually use.
I use the word "Summon", but I think Eidolon sounds the coolest.
I don't lik it when people say that something should be something for everything just cause they say so.. not that I'm pointing anyone out or anything. But I like to say Eidolon because it just sounds so darn mysterious.
Summons and Eidolon.
