The most useless FF character

Im sick of all the useless characters in FF games. For example: Edward, Cait Sith, Gordon etc.. Which one do hate the most?

Kimirai, the only thing he was good for was getting Ultima to Lulu and Mighty Guard.

Edward. He's a Bard, for gosh sakes.

Kimahri... I don't know if that's spelled correctly?

Well, but I chose him because he dosn't have any speciel abilities or such things...

well I like all the FF characters, why Kimahri? is it cos he's so unidependent? but anyway, if you ask me it would probably be young Rydia, Edward or Josef

Edward all the way. His special ability was...hide! :whoa: How useless. :mad:

I wouldn't say Edward only because you don't have him for very long. I'd have to go with Gau from Six. Cait Sith comes in a pretty close second, though.

Gau?!? He is one of the best characters in FF6! If you equip him well you menage to do almost 40000 dmg every attack, and he has good speed (that is hard to raise).

The most useless are Edward and Cait Sith, that's for sure. But at least I like Edward as a character.

Equip anyone with the Offering and Atma Weapon and you could probably do about the same.

That's the thing, you don't NEED to give him the Atma Weapon (or Ragnarok, or Illumina) to do that amount of damage.

Never used him, so I couldn't say. Took one look at his ability and I couldn't wait to get rid of him. Even if you don't have to give him the Atma Weapon, you probably still have to go around getting his abilities from various monsters. *shrugs* I'd much rather have Cyan's Sword Tech. or Sabin's Blitz.

You only need one Rage: Straycat, it's very easy to get.

Edward. I hate it that he hides automatcally when he is low on health. That happenend when I was defending fabul. I wanted him to die so Cecil and Yang would get more experince points.

Hah, it's so funny how people pass up Gau, the most powerful character in the game, because they can't get over his looks and antics. :rolleyes: I could go on all day about how Gau is the most useful character in FFVI, but I'll spare you the trouble this time :lol:

I would say Kimahri...only cos all the other characters in FFX had uses for certain situations.
Example, Tidus for attacking agile enemies or anything in general, Wakka for flying enemies, Lulu for enemies with elemental weaknesses, Auron for enemies with shells (due to piercing ability of his weapon), Yuna for general curing and white magic stuff, and Rikku for stealing.

Kimahri however had a piercing weapon so was similar to Auron, but Auron was much stronger...so why use Kimahri? Also his enemy skills could only be used on an overdrive which wasn't that often.

Plus after I finished his side of the grid the only place I could seem to take him was Lulu's, where he was learning Fire, and Blizzard while she had Fira, and so on, so he became kinda useless from then on....

I say the most useless are Edward, and the scholar class from ff3j, those guys are completly useless except one battle.

he had no physical strength. he could run away like a coward thats all!!!!!!!!

you can't do a cheap-arsed levelup trick that I use with gau.

Tidus was no way useless... he uses his sword fine for me! I didn't have his ultimate weapon but I customised a weapon (forget it's name) with break damage limit and he was doing the most damage of any of my characters. Also his Blitz ace overdrive was great, it killed Braska's Final Aeon (the first one) in one turn.

Gau's starting stats compared to everyone else in FF6 (14 characters):

Vigor: 3rd
Speed: 2nd
Stamina: 3rd
Magic Power: 6th
Battle Power: 1st
Defense: 9th
Magic Defense: 3rd
Evade%: 2nd
Magic Evade%: 1st

Not bad eh? He's above average on everything but defense. Late in the game, my Gau had 81% evade and 78% magic evade. As MC Hammer says, you can't touch this. :laugh:

Even though I'd like to say FF4's Edward, the Spoony Bard, his final harp actually does a pretty good damage, and his potion toss ability is good if you've got a lot of potions (only in FF4 hard type, though). Gordon from FF2 isn't that bad either if you level him up enough. Same applies to all those FF6 characters that one might regard as useless, such as Gau (more about him later), Setzer, Relm and Umaro. I never thought FF7's Cait Sith was that bad. FF9's Quina isn't useless because s/he has loads of useful spells, like Mighty Guard, White Wind, Auto-Life and the one that makes every character use Remedy. Kimahri from FFX sucked for me, but he still has Ronso Rage magic and he's a pretty good fighter with an armor-piercing weapon. I guess I'll still say Kimahri, though, because all the other characters can do similar things, but in a more effective way.

Give him a Merit Award, Snow Muffler, a Hero Ring or things like that and he'll destroy anything. Scratch Cat and Tyranosaur are the Rages I have him use the most.

most usless, gotta be Cait Sith (FF7) he was the bigest twat ever!! i called him gimboid. he was just so crap, with his michrophone. wat was that about????

For my #1 most useless character, I'm going waaaaaaaaaay back to FF. The Thief. His attack was 4th. defense 3rd. and he never learned any good magic. He just... sucked big doneky !@#%.... adn and #2 had to be Steiner... so what if he had Shock.... it took like what? 50 MP or some stuff.... and he only had like 200MP total.... considering every other character had an attack to do just as much for a LOT less MP.... I say screw Steiner.. he sucks.

Steiner had the most powerful attack of any FFIX character, could deal 9999 damage to a single or group of enemies for less MP than Vivi, use almost every elemental spell, and equip some of the best wepaonry and armour in the game.

And Ninja+Masamune rocks your world.

Hahaha, thats why Vivi sucked too. Freya does 9999 using 16 MP with Dragon Crest. Dagger does 9999 with Atomos, and Quina uses only 5 MP to do 9999 with Frog Drop. Zidane does 9999 with Thievery which costs only 18(i think) MP Amarant does 9999 using even less with No Mercy... And Eiko wasn't there for doing damage, more just for Phoenix and Full-life and Esuna. So, thats why Steiner and Vivi were pretty damn useless to me.

Any FF1 character + Masamune combo would rock the world, even with a White Mage. This doesn't make the Thief/Ninja suck though. He's still useless in lots of situations. Katana makes him really powerful, Steel and Fast are good spells for him to have and he can run easily.

Steiner's Climhazzard ability did 9999 damage to all the enemies when I used it. I never bothered to steal much or capture frogs, so Thievery and Frog Drop didn't do that much damage when I used them. As for Vivi, he can use Doomsday to really hurt the enemies and fully heal your party (if you've got shadow-absorbing equipment) at the same time. Eiko has Holy, Madeen and Phoenix for doing damage. Curaga, Full-Life, Esuna, Phoenix and Carbuncle (with Moon Stone for Mighty Guard) are also good support spells.

You give the masamune to anybody and its awesome. But the Master does nearly twice as much with his bare fists than a Knight does with the Masamune.

Ah this thread reminds me of ther most embarassing moment of my life.

It was my first time playing ff7, infact the first time on any ff. I was stuck in mount Nibel on that green scorpion thing, materia stealer i think it's called. I couldn't get past it after so many tries, my mom has a go and does some fancy dice trick with cait sith and almost instantly kills it. She still makes fun of me for it :(

So yeah, i'd say Edward

Ninja+Masamune does damage comparable to a Knight with Excalibur. A Mage with the Masamune still has awesome attack power, but they're Mages, so they're hardly going to be using the sword constantly.

And yes, a Ninja can cast Steel and Fast, which makes him over twice as potent. If you have him use the Giant's Gloves, he can also use Saber, which raises his attack power further still.

As for Steiner, he deals 9999 damage to all enemies, without needing to catch frogs, defeat Grand Dragons, Steal Constantly, sit through a 30 second long Summon animation, equip shadow absorbing armour, or enter trance. Therefore, he does not suck.

lol :laugh: Yeah, that happened to me but in X. You know at the first few fights with Tidus' overdrive and you have to press the X at the right moment? Well, at first I wasn't brilliant at it but then along comes my mum and gets it right all the time, first time. I was just sitting there acting as though it was no big deal! (I've perfected it all now of course ;) ) Anyway, I never used Kimarhi in my fights at all, it always seemed like every other character had it better than him! But Edward and his pointless singing also sucked.
