What are your characters called?
Cloud: Jake
Barrett: Matt
Tifa: Claire
Aeris: Kate
Red XIII: Hell
Cait Sith: Moggle
Vincent: David
Cid: Gray
Yuffie: Sasha
Please tell me what you call your Characters! I will reply as much as I can!
Yuffie is the bestests.
Vincent is NOT A david.
The default names.
Vincent is a David! Also Yuffie is good too!
Using the default names is no problem, I suppose, it depends if you actually like the names on default.
I do, otherwise I wouldn't use them. There's not much of a point in using the default names if you don't like them.Quote:

I also chose to stick with the default names...guess it's a habit cause I rarely change them for other games, including other FF....well, with few exceptions.
Never liked the XIII (13) after Red's name...so he's Red Talon. I like it better and it's a name of something else in another RPG, non video game.
I like Vincent just because I found his background story, what little I could garner and piece together and guess at, to be rather involved and interesting.
But then again....a smart a$$ is one thing, a bad a$$ is another...but both at the same time? Yeah, well....Cid's just cool like that
Will have to say I don't bring Cait Sith into the group unless I absolutely have to or near the point I'm at now, where all are lvl 99...and he was the last one left. Otherwise, won't get near 'em

Guess the sorce of all of those names and you get a prise.
All as defaults for me, except Red XIII I remove the numerals and just call him Red.

The chocobos that I remember were called Jax (Gold) and Jake (Black). I think I might've called the Blue & Green ones Sapphire and Emerald, but I'm not sure. I haven't played this game in ages. *just got the PSX version recently, should play it sometime this weekend, hopefully*

.....yeah, well...the blue and green were just sorta made up between me and a six yr old. Kage, pronounced KA GAY is Japanese for Shadow, I think
..Abadon was supposed to be Abaddon, but not enough space. A name I pulled outta Hebrew lore....

Green: Greeny
Blue: Bluie
Black: Blacky
Gold: Goldie

First two yellow ones were CHOCO and Coco(boy,girl)

Dusk and Dawn is an rpg character of a friend of mine.
As far as the charcaters names go...they stay the same.I only changed red 13 to Red once.thats it.
For future referense when I play ANY rpg and get to rename characters I rename the hero 'Joel' and the main heroine who falls in love with the hero (the Rinoa or Tifa) Kailey
I once named them in my first file, the first time I played:
Cloud=MYNAME REAL NAME IN ALL CAPS
tifa=LADY
aeris= FLOWER ( I dont think I saw the lower case letters)
Red XIII= Red X (not 10, just X like Xtreme, I continue to name him that now)
Cait Sith= Cait sith
Cid=Cid
Vincent=Vincent

In ff9 I called Vivi Vincent, and that stuck so well, I get confused sometimes when people refer to vincent in ff7 and not my vincent in ff9. I name them default now, except of Red XIII
My chocobos, which I finally have in my 6th file
male=male1
female=female1
black=Smoke
blue=Sea
Green=Mountians
Gold=Rooter
Then to try and get the fastest chocobo, I took my black one and my gold one and made them have another chocobo, who was Gold, and he turned out with the fastest speed, I think it was like 700 something..I think....
I forgot about the chocobos. Umm, I think that I called them:
Blue: Sea
Green: Grass
Black: Night
Gold: Sunny
How Original is that? I like the chocobos and I always name them after something that relates to their colour.
Default names. I like them (even if they sounded a bit weird at first!) and they seem to somehow fit in.
And Barrett trying to shoot down a helicopter... after many years of seeing TV adverts for Barratt Homes, that just amused me :D
Apart from that it makes them easier to discuss if you're all referring to the same names.
I kept default names my first time, then all the subsequent times I changes Red XIII to Nanaki. I felt he was deservant of that name.
I thought the same, but it does get a bit weird...
"Hojo called me Nanaki, a name of no meaning to me. Call me what you wish."
"Who's Nanaki?"
"Nanaki is Nanaki, that's his name..."
etc!
I chose Vincent. He's hot, plus he's all mysterious and anguished ^_^
I kept their names all default. Except ONCE I think I called Barret "Mr T". Yeah, couldn't help myself.
I call Red XIII just Red. He shouldn't have a number. Nasty Hojo
Usually I just call them by their default names, but when I call them something different it's sometimes something weird... For example:
Cloud: Blade
Aeris: Holy
Tifa: Darling
Barret: Brother
Cait Sith: Toy
Vincent: Mystic
Cid: Airborn
Yuffie: Thija (Thief and Ninja)
Red XIII: Killer
As said this is just an example. Other times I actually give them some fair names... :D

I know I renamed Barret as Trigger once, but I can't remember any others.
I named Cloud after me the first time I played, other than that the chocobos were the only unique names
they were creative, if i do say so myself

Anyway, I use the default names for all of them except Red XIII, for whom I use Nanaki. And I'm voting for Yuffie, I guess, since I like her character the most. Cloud is easily the best character in battle, tho'.

ANway, I always use defualt.
I go with default names.
My chocobos were named after chars from other games.
so I had
yellow male = Zidane
Yellow Female = Garnet
Blue F = Rikku
Blue F = Yuna
Green F = Lulu
Blue M = Wakka
Black M = Auron.
Still looking for Goldie.
I just go with the default names - not very original but meh.

I go Default names the first way through.. it makes it easier to talk about the games with others.. i made the mistake of calling Steiner from IX "Tumolt" after the marine captain in a game called "BioForge" and ever since then i called him Tumolt in conversation and everyone thought i was retarded.
Tumolt, interesting, I called Steiner Rusty, since Zedain, Orion in my game, calls him it ne way

I always use the default names the first time, and then I change 'em the second time. I haven't played VII for a few years though... don't remember what I named anyone. I know I changed Cloud's name 'cause its too fruity for my tastes.
Personally, I just keep their names at default. But one time I felt bored...and it was very entertaining! Get this! It might be confusing to newbies, but to seasoned players, try naming everyone of your characters Sephiroth.
Oh! I actually name Red XIII Nanaki. That makes the scene when his real name is exposed a little humorous because after Red XIII being Nanaki throughout the game thus far, he's going, "Who's Nanaki?" Maybe it's just me. Don't listen to me.

Tifa: Maxima( Future queen of the NL)
Aeris: Jane (Just for fun) or Miranda (Again for fun)
Red XIII: Bin Laden (Ah, do I really have to explain)
Cait Sith: Michelin (The tire, because he is so fat)
Vincent: Michael (Michael Schumacher or Michael Boogerd, choose yourself)
Cid: Gary (Gary Hobson, from Early Edition)
Yuffie: Dana (From the X-Files)
My Chocobo's all got the nicknames of F1-drivers.
Rabb, good choice, but, I think Cid would be, cause ya know, they both like flying, but, that's my opion on the matter
Red XIII is my favourite. :) And I don't rename them, I like the default names. :D
