In FF8, once you get to [spoilers]Esthar[/spoilers], there is a weapons(?) shop belonging to Cloud, but it is currently closed. I'm sure there is something in FF9 also, but i can't remember it exactly.
There is someone who is named Cloud who owns the shop, doesn't mean it is Cloud from FF7. Zidane sees a giant sword in a weapon shop and says "I know of a guy with spiked hair who used to carry a sword like this" or something like that.
He's in FFT as a playable character I guess, I've never played very far in that game..
Other than those three, nope. Although I think there might be a sprite for him with the FFChronicals game in FF4.
yeah, maybe they meant he was mentioned atleast in every FF. Yes he is in FFT, but he doesnt attack, he says something about allt he pain he's seen in the world, but he has all of his limit breaks and shtuff. Thanks again, later
.3n!
Yeah he does battle in FFT. He's a playable character.
He's not mentioned in every FF either.. He wasn't even created when FF1-6 were out. And they say nothing about him in FF10.
Umm... who says he wasnt created until 7? He could've been created but never used as a main char. The person who said that he was mentioned in every FF game was a Square Rep i'm told, now i'm just wondering where. He goes to battle, but he does not actually attack.
...
Why would they create Cloud way back when they created FF1? That makes no sense. I've played FFIV, V and VI many many times and have never seen Cloud. I've gone almost everywhere you can go in those games. NO CLOUD. He would have no place in FF1, 2 or 3 either...
They would have no REASON to create Cloud back when they created the older games. I have played FFI and FFVI very thoroughly, and there is no mention of Cloud in them. He was created for FFVII, and not for anything before that.
maybe he was created, but with a different name in the older ones...
So you mean a completely different character that had nothing to do with Cloud? Well yeah!Quote:

yeah, that they couldve based cloud off of, so hence this came up.
There's a guy named CID in virtually every FF game.
Not Cloud.
Yup, you're most likely thinking of Cid.
As for Zidane, he might've been talking about Zack ;)
Yes, there's clouds in every FF game.
Actually, once you have him in your party, you have to find his weapon. Look in the FFT section of the Front site for the details on how to get it.Quote:

I haven't seen Cloud anywhere except for FFVII but I am SICK of seeing Biggs and Wedge. They're everywhere...
ok nimrods. listen up. this is cloud 101.
cloud appearirs in ff7,fft (where he is a playable character but extremmaly hard to get), and kh. he is mentoned in ff8 and ff9. he does not appear in x at all!
he was NOT in ff 1-6.
and cid 101
cid appears in EVERY final fantasy game after 4, not before
and my own little fact.
vicks and wedge appear in ff6. and vicks is later changed to biggs. biggs and wedge appear in ever final fantasy since 7.
Originally (Japanese version and all) Vicks was Biggs, (since it's a Star Wars reference and all) Vicks was just a bad translation (one of many). And you're right, Cloud was not mentioned, thought of, or created before VII. Why would they do that? Cloud is not the center of the FF universe, not at all.
"cid appears in EVERY final fantasy game after 4, not before"
Cid is in 2 and 3.
"The person who said that he was mentioned in every FF game was a Square Rep i'm told"
Claiming you have information from a "Square Rep" about something that's "controversial" is automatic proof that you are lying or were lied to. Sorry, them's the rules.
Were Biggs and Wedge in FF9 and 10? Don't remember seeing em...
I don't know about IX, Cloudane, as I didnt play it much. In X I'm told they were Blitzballers and you could end up with them on your team (edit to prevent needless freaking out: on your BLITZBALL TEAM), but regardless, they're there. I just never saw them.
Wow, for FF fans, some of you guys sure are narrow minded. I know I'm not thinking of Cid, I'm not that retarded. I'll drop that he's mentioned in every FF, but honestly, do you guys really think, that creator of the story/characters of FFVII, Cloud in particular, didnt think of him until one day, after FF6 when he thought: "I wanna make a game about this guy!!" Dont you guys even get the slightest thought that the process of his character being created could've started back when FF5 was released? If you all beleive that this character is so complex, then honestly you cant think he wasnt even thought of before FF6.
.3n!
You say that he's in every FF game. Why would they have thought of him in the days of FFI and not made a game about him then? And REGARDLESS of how amazingly cool he is (which I think is ridiculous, I mean good Lord, he's a pretend character) if he was in every game, why are you the only one that you know this? Why has no one else figured this out?
And why should FF fans be anymore open-minded than normal people, by the way?
Everytime the creators are ready to make a new game, they come up with those characters for that game right there. Maybe they had ideas for a guy like Squall, or for a girl named Rosa, years before the characters were created, but they did not include them in previous games.
And Cloud's character isnt very deep, and even if you consider it as such, it didnt take more than a year tops to create. It doesnt take 10, 5, or even 3 years to make a character like him.
Jesus christ, two things, one you just contradicted yourself, two, thats EXACTLY what I was saying. Also if you knew how to read or pay attention to the little symbols on your monitor known as words, you would've noticed two things:Quote:

1. I said a friend of mine told me this and he heard it from a Square rep, last time I checked, people werent accounted for as one.
2. I said I was going to drop it.
You'd think FF Fans would be more open minded cause people who tend to be more pessimistic think that games/stories in games is an absurd idea, and shun the idea of getting interested in something that doesnt exist. I was just saying its possible for someone who thought up the story, kept quiet for years before actually acting on it. I never said it was fact, I said it was a possibility.
No, she didn't contradict herself. I may be wrong, but it looks to me like you're claiming Square came up with all of Cloud's development years before FFVII came out, while Ashley (TheAbominatrix) is merely saying that Square might have certain plot ideas that they don't use. They didn't flesh out those ideas so much that Amano/Nomura actually made drawings of those characters, which is what it looks to me like you're saying would be necessary. No need to get so upset at her for basically making a concession to the opposite side.Quote:

No offense, but you haven't yet.Quote:

Some people are freaking out over nothing here. Geez, calm down.
That's all, really.
- Cloud appeared as the main character in Final Fantasy VII. No, really.
- Cloud appeared in a cut-scene as part of an optional quest that culminated in the acquisition of him as a playable character in Final Fantasy Tactics.
- Cloud appeared randomly as a superdeformed sprite on the New Game/Load Game screen for the PlayStation version of Final Fantasy V.
- Cloud was the name of a shopkeeper in Esthar in Final Fantasy VIII, although he never made an actual appearance.
- Cloud was referenced with respect to his spiky hair and hefty sword in the Lindblum weapon shop in Final Fantasy IX. Also, during one of the game's closing scenes, the line "No cloud or squall shall hinder us!" was uttered, providing another reference to Cloud as well as Final Fantasy VIII's wretched starring gent. Again, Cloud made no appearance in either instance.
- Cloud is set to reprise his role as main character in the upcoming CG OVA Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children.
Exactly what Aaron said on my behalf. What I mean is the character designers may have vague ideas of people they use in later games. For example for V, they could have had ideas about another boy on the team, and maybe they wanted to name him Zell. They didnt build this whole life, personality, and appearance for him, maybe they just came up with the name. And then later, when they were developing VIII, one of them decides to use that name they came up with. I know that when I create Role Playing characters, I get ideas for personality or names or appearance, and dont use the ideas for years down the road, if at all. If you'd calm down for a sec, you'd see I was trying to help your case here.Quote:

What you were saying is that Cloud was physically in every FF game, which is untrue, as our Kawaii friend pointed out above.
And by the way, thank you Aaron.
De nada.
this is off topic, but there is no point in making a new thread for this.
biggs and wedge i think appear in ffix as zorn and thorn, though differently named. seeing as they are always together.
Zorn and Thorn are not Biggs and Wedge. That's just silly.
We are so done with this thread.
