what do you think is the bigest or most popular rivalry.
i think the cloud+sephiroth rivalry is

I thought you ment game vs game rivalry when I read the subject. But now I see...

Cloud vs Seph for characters.

But for games the FF7 and/or FF9 vs FF8

Character wise Squall versus Seifer, given Seph barely acknowledged Cloud until very late in the game and they weren't competing for anything so it's hardly rivalry.

Gamewise VII versus VIII. I've never seen any other obvious rivals.

Yeah I will have to agree with you Phoenix. Squall and Seifer have a great rivalry from start to finish, I think this is one of the aspects of FFVIII that make it a fantastic game.

Either Cecil and Cain, or Steiner and Beatrix.

lol, it's all my fault, I don't think the thread ever was meant to be anything but rivalrly about characters, but I decided to be stupid.

Characters probably Seifer VS Squall.

Games would definitely be FFVI VS FFVII

Bartz vs. Tidus

Characterwise, Cloud and Sephiroth. Gamewise, people who started with FF6 vs people who started with FF7 - old school vs new school as people put it.

Character: Squall and Seifer

Game: FFVI vs. FFVII (duh)

Aeris and Tifa

Gotta be Cloud and Sephiroth.

I agree with all of that except for the game rivalries. I'd have to say that the FFVI and FFVII rivalry is the biggest/greatest rivalry.

i dont know if this this would be a "rivalry" but sephy did destroy clouds home town

even cloud cant get enough of his sword:D

I think they were more like enemies from the start...

Yeah fair enough about VI and VII. I think the similarities between VII and VIII make it a more obvious rivalry, but I agree the main arguements are between the first two.

wouldnt sephy burining down the town be the start of the rivalry because before that cloud looked up to sephiroth

i thought what they had was something like a rivalry, even if it was mostly one-sided.

tidus wanted to impress his father who mostly ignored him, and angry when he left, hated his father for a thousand reasons.. so it gave tidus a reason to be the best he can be so he can finally confront his father who, just happens to be sin and prove himself. (change some words around, and it sounds like cloud vs. seph, hmm?)

yeah what i said is confusing.. would it make sense? but i certainly agree that seifer/squall is the ultimate rivalry between characters, FF7 vs. FF8.

All this nonsense about cloud and sephiroths rivalry starting with burning his home. The fact that Sehriroth (clouds role model) Killed clouds mother, Tifa father, shanks Tifa and Zack is what pissed cloud off. The whole rivaly was with Cloud and a Sephiroth Clone. The true Sephiroth was encased in crystallized mako in the Northern Crater after Cloud grabs the Masamune (when Seph stabs him) and Cloud drops him in the Mako at the north reactor. The Sephiroth Cloud chases throughout the game is only one of many clones created by Hojo. Sephiroth's true body was partially destroyed after the Nibelheim incident, where he was washed into life stream and to the greatest concentration of mako: The North.

I say Squall and Sifer personally

Games: FFVI vs FFVII This IS the big one, because both are great.)

Charaters: Squall vs Seifer I think is the best, since they know and respect one another so much.
2nd place: Cecil vs Kain (same deal, but its on and off throughout the game)
3rd place: Cloud vs Sephy (The BFS: Big F$%^ing Sword vs the super long masmune) Wait for Advent Children and this one might rise in the charts a bit.

Notable mention (this did not happen but if it did):
Racheal (she wakes up) vs Celes........ two points on this one:
1. I wanna be a treasure hunter too
2. Five bucks says Celes leaves Racheal in so many pieces, there's no way phoenix is gonna bring her back, broken or not.

id like to say tidus and seymour just because (SPOILER) of tidus' face when seymour kissed her!!

but besides that, squall and seifer cuz theyre both fricken awesome

or cloud and sephy because that would be the greatest battle if they just duked it out (never best sephiroth in kingdom hearts so i dont know what its like...i feel so sheltered...

o i got one. the all time greatest would be (DRUM ROLL)......
TIDUS AND SHUYIN!!! yea they look so alike...but they're not even close to being the same...besides the situation with losing their love. so maybe lenne and yuna would be a rivalry too....like in singing or something lol
