Pig Wrestlin'
Okay . . . let's just say there is this guy . . . *Growls and glares* . . . who likes to THINK ( something hard for him to do ) that people in the South are ignorant rednecks who wrestle pigs and marry their cousins.
I tend to want to kill him when he says this ( I love you, babe! ) but of course I take it lightly cause I know he's jokin'. But what do ya'll think? Is the South truly potrayed as such? ^_^- I hope not. Ya'll come back, ya hear?
-
Hmm. pig wrestlin? .....interesting subject im sure the man who assumes that of you is a kind gentle loving sex machine of a man *blinks*... he must be truly lucky to have such a sweet hicky chicky like yourself under his arm hehe *huggles* MINE!
-
I don't live in America so don't know what stereotypes of the southern continent there may be over there :p
-
Yes, that's kind of the view we have up here. But don't worry, we in the north still love our retarded, inbred cousins down south, even if we don't always show it.
-
Yes, that's the stereotype. Now excuse me while I do drugs and go make a movie.
-
. . . inbred cousins . . . ???? Don't make me bite you with my rotten, missin' teeth! >_o I'll make my lover/brother kick your ass!! XD!
-
There are ignorant rednecks everywhere, probably not just in the South. The only stereotype bit I hear is the "ya'll", but they do say that, so, yeah.
-
-
I suppose some people don't mind wrestling with animals that like to roll about in their own excrement :p
-
That is the stereotype, but really, when have stereotypes ever been important? There are stereotypes for everyone. Almost all of them are ridiculously false. Not every African American is a gangster. Not every Asian is a martial artist or science nerd. Not every Southerner is a hick, nor every middle class white man an uptight, yuppie businessman. Not every feminist is a butch lesbian, nor every gay man an effeminate pansy. I could go on and on, but it's pointless. Stereotypes have no value at all. They're just insults disguised as truths. Even if people think of Southerners as you say, it only shows how foolish they are.
-
I live in The Netherlands, and that is indeed the image we get from Southern Americans.. But we know it isn't true, so don't worry.
The image we have of people from North America is even worse, so be glad =D
-
But I'm a martial artist, Garland. Am I the expection, not the rule?
*feels special*
-
My impression is based predominantly on movies such as Steel Magnolias and Forrest Gump.
-
South? That's Texas and the Biblebelt, right? And Dallas, oh and Florida. And alligators.
-
Yeah below virgina is the south. Is there a stereo type for us Northerners? I mean besides that we are just so cool.
-
I hate all stereotypes against me. I believe all stereotypes against anyone else. And apparently, there appears to be some sort of confusion. When she says south, she means the southern part of North America, not South America, for you foreigners. There may have been some confusion.
And the stereotype of "y'all" is valid. The only problem is, y'all is a real word. It's a contraction of "you all." I say it all the time. And we take Yanks as being uptight snobs who are in love with their money and mistresses.
-
Thats true :) I love my money and mistresses :)
-
Damn...I really stated that stereotype badly. It looks like a good thing now. Of course, by knowing the people on this forum, even a bad thing is a good thing. Alright, the stereotype of northerners is, they're good-hearted, loving people towards all!
**watches as Yanks melt away from the inside*
MWAHAHA!
**raises Confederate flag**
-
Well if this counts, I hope there is
-
huh? ok the red/orange states are south the rest Union/North/Yanks

Very good, Bert. You know your history. Your point?
-
Just so people fomr other countries no where we're talking about.
-
...no, really, if you go less than one hour south of here (not even to Colombus), you really get into red neck country... and that's not even the south. Southerners also get the sterotype of well, being hospitable, caring a lot about honor, and the whole "southern bell" thing, so it's not all that bad.
-
-
Yeah, that is the stereotype, but I don't believe it. But then my family's from the south so I've seen the good, the bad and the ugly.
-
Dude, that's like, way not cool.
