Chopsticks

Do you like using chopsticks? Have you ever tried eating foods other than asian foods using chopsitcks?

I got bored once and tried to only use chopsticks for an entire week. It was very interesting and actually a lot of fun.

No. Chopsticks are stupid.

Never eaten with them. Can't be bothered when there's easier way.

Chopsticks are illogical.

I've tried but after twenty seconds I gave up and stabbed my food with them.

I can eat using Chinese and Korean chopsticks, but not Japanese chopsticks.

Yeah, Japanese chopsticks are hard to use if they aren't textured.

This is confusing ...

My friend always wants to use them when we get Chinese takeaway, but I just can't be bothered, I'm like "I'm hungry..I wanna eat more than one piece of rice at once... xD"

I don't understand the point of chopsticks. Seems primitive. Stabbing food or scooping food is easier and better and more efficient than pinching it or balancing it on the ends of two long sticks.

Well if that's the case we should just puree all of our food and drink it, or even better, we can just use IV's of liquids all the time.

Liquifying food would change its taste, if not its texture. The method you use to transport your food from your plate to your mouth doesn't affect the enjoyment of the food. Different tools for different tasks. Sometimes it's better to use a fork, sometimes a spoon, sometimes your fingers. Never chopsticks though.

I end up stabbing myself in the eye whenever I try to use chopsticks.

I've seen someone eat plain soup with chopsticks. That's just scary.

I'm no good with chopsticks. The last time I went to a sushi bar with Mandee she made me 'practice sticks', with some paper and a rubber band. They're fun to use that way!

I've tried a couple times but get too frustrated

I don't think I've ever known of anyone that couldn't use chopsticks until now.

I've been using chopsticks so long, I've forgotton when I started.

I tried once... I realized that I don't have chopstick skills so I broke them and used my fingers. ^_^

Chopsticks, of course. Why bother to use different forks and knives for salat, lobster and ... Cheeseburgers?

I hadn't used them ever before last year, then I ate an entire meal with them at a Japanese steakhouse. Everyone was amazed. I'm a natural :)

Chopsticks together with the appropriate food. To me it just feels like the best alternative.

Well yeah I eat with chopsticks everyday, I have eaten a Stake with Chopsticks, Pizza, numerous different types of food. Mostly with the Pizza I spread it apart into small pieces with the chop sticks and then eat it with the chopsticks. I mean you can eat anything with chop sticks. Ice cream :D

I just stick to forks whenever I can.

I find chopsticks easier to use than forks. Thank god for being born part Asian. :D

I use chopsticks for mainly asian food. I don't like using them cos I can't, heh. It's weird cos I am asian but I'm more into the 'European' style since I was born in NZ *nods*

Soup with Chopsticks? I'd just take the boil and drink down the Soup. Yeah I'm half Asian myself, I'm Korean Puerto Rican. But I for some reason like my Korean Half much better. Probly because I don't look puerto rican more so Korean.

I use chopsticks, but not the wooden kind. Metal chopsticks are for me. *poke poke*

Chopsticks make me feel stupid, but I still use them when it's asian food and they provide them. I like forks better though :)

Chopsticks never did agree with me. I would quite like to be part of the in-crowd that can use them really well and order in Cantonese or whatever... but in reality I would rather look like a stupid foreigner and use a friggin' fork! :cool:

After taking about an hour to figure out how to work the bloody things, and another hour to puzzle over the mystery of how the hell you use them to pick up rice... I finished my meal. At this point, because I am lame and can't use the things properly, I had severe hand cramp equal to approximately 5 hours masturbation.

So I figured I could've just used a fork, eaten in 10 minutes, and put the rest of the time to much, MUCH better use :p

if I ever go to Hong Kong or whatever I'm DEFINATELY bringing one of those wee folding knife/fork things. **** chopsticks. :D

I've decided through this thread that only cool people know how to use chopsticks. The rest just make up excuses like chopsticks are illogical or stupid or pointless. It's okay guys. Just because you suck doesn't mean we don't love you. :)

Japanese chopsitcks have square handles while Chinese chopsticks have round handles. I don't know about Korean chopsticks though.
