super bosses (spoilers)

how many does this game have? its not hard since vegnegun is easy,but heres my list so far i know of... bare with my sp(ps. remember definition of super boss is a boss harder then the last boss)

MAGUS SISTERS. the first i ever encountered in the game to whopp me multiple times and the first ever super boss u MUST defeat. anima, vegnegun and shuyin were all so much weaker.

that MATERIAL KEEPER CLONE who you must fight three times before vegnegun unless u solve the puzzles. THAT was quite a guardian, got soannoyed when i HAD 2 do the puzzles to get to vegnegun.

the BEHEMOTH KING in the thunderplains. only cause of mighty guard though...and not having dispel. as i say, vegnegun and shuyin are weak.

the ANGRY MANRYU or sumthin in bikanel. that looks quite tough, i want tofight it in chapter 1 but it keeps knocking me away!

KING VERMIN... havent seen him yt

BEVILLE VIA PURIFICO BOSSES... i hear these are the super bosses greatest members, including this TREMA.how hard is here?

are there any other super bosses i should be aware of?

and do i need the ability FINALE from garment grid THE END to do 99,999 damage? i ran from a tonberry in chapter 1 mushroom rock road on my master playthrough ( it had 9999 hp,i did 100 a hit, hadent saved in ages, too long 2 beat) and hence, cant get that move!

Ok we get it. This isn't the first FF with an easy final boss.

FFX had the Via Purifico, in FFX-2 it's the Via Infinito. The bosses in this area, even with the Cat Nip + Gunner, can easily kill you, no matter how you are equipped. If you aren't prepared for Black Element, it usually uses Ultima it's first move and kills your whole party. If Chac isn't oversouled, it's Heaven's Catarac can obliterate your whole party in one move. Paragon has a similar move, and oversouled Paragon is just crazy. (SPOILER)Trema can be difficult. There is a way around him using Ultima, but then he uses Meteor quite a bit, which can get annoying if he uses it like three times in a row. And the previous two bosses you fight simultaneously with no time to heal, which is even more annoying.

Angra Mairyu is a bit difficult. It's more annoying than anything. It's easily prepared for, and doesn't require that much strategy.

Jumbo Cactuar is not by any means a super boss. It doesn't even attack unless it's oversouled. King Vermin is rather easy.

The Magus Sisters were a bit challenging, but nothing that can't be handled. I was rather disappointed by this fight actually. Passado won't kill you. Camisade and Razzia are weak. And it takes them FOREVER to perform their overdrive attack. Yojimbo wasn't so kind, I don't know why they were. Actually, I'd say that Yojimbo was the most difficult of the dark aeons.

I hated Azi Dahaka. It probably had the highest defense of any monster in the game, coupled with auto-protect. I fought it just so I could get The End GG, and it took me like 45 minutes to beat. I didn't have any of my girls able to be a Dark Knight, and I couldn't get a 777 on Random Reels to save my life. This was the second most difficult boss fight I had.

I am confused by the effects of Finale. I have it, and it does something different everytime I use it. It doesn't do 99,999 damage for one thing. Sometimes it will kill a monster in one move, sometimes it will just do damage. I don't know.

omg ... all the giant bosses in Via infinito.. no I mean random battles... like the GIANT TOMBERRY *dies* *sobs* I still can't beat him! AND HE'S FREAKING RANDOM!

Oh yeah, the Elder Drake and Mega Tonberry, both of which are rather difficult. Elder Drake is easily defeatable if you look at it's accuracy stat. Mega Tonberry is just difficult. You have to have freakishly high defense, and even then it still does a lot of damage. Ironically, Mega Toberry is easier to beat when it's oversouled.

do any of the super bosses touch the dark aeons, nemesis or penenance?

yes there have been others but this was BY FAR the easiest last boss. if i can finish the game at lv 40 easily, that would mean i could finish the game at sumthin like lv 10 when i get experienced. not quite as good as doing ff8 at lv 7, but still low.

by your reference to defense, does that mean you can have max stats in this game!!! i hope so, i thought it might be like ff6 or ff9 in that respect.

I don't have the chance to fight the dark aeons or Penance, but from what I've heard of them, I'd say that many of the Via Infinito bosses are matches for the dark aeons. No, not as much HP, but in this game you can't max out your stats. You have to do this by use of accessories, but this won't allow you to max out everything ever. By equipping two Iron Dukes and Dark Knight at level 99 you can almost max out everything, but if it's your first time going up against Paragon you won't even have an Iron Duke, so it's that much harder, even at level 99. Against Paragon, and actually throughout the lower half of the Via Infinito, you are going to want as much HP as possible, which means all the girls have a Crystal Bangle. So that leaves only one accessory slot left, making your choices scarce. That's what's so difficult about these monsters, not their difficulty in comparison to other monsters in other games but your lack of choices in raises stats and having accessories. So a lot of strategy comes into play against these monsters, even with Cat Nip + Gunner. So, to answer one of your questions, no you cannot max your stats. I however like this, it adds to the challenge.

"BY FAR the easiest last boss" hah!! Ultimecia was laughable at best. 4 Lionhearts, 4 Zell combos, 4 Pulse Ammo limits, 4 Wishing Stars, or any comibination and she's gone, end of story, roll the credits. Vegnagun at least gave some challenge.

There's a big difference in your stats between level 10 and level 40. Seeing as how this is the only way you can level up your stats in this game, by leveling up. Accessories only help so much. I'm sure it can be done at level 10, but I don't really care to find out. The Via Infinito is fun, and I wouldn't dream of going in at level 40 let alone level 10.

isnt one slot for the ribbon? like almost every ff except ff8. what items can i get without fighting super bosses to help me beat super bosses?

I almost never used Ribbon in this game, there were very few cases where I saw that it needed to be used. There are lot of items that increase certain stats by 60 points, and that's what I use to start with. I later use things like Iron Duke, Adamantine, Force of Nature, ect ect.

And side note: you didn't really use a Ribbon in FF9 since it doesn't do the usually thing. And I had a Pocketstation imported from Japan and got a Ribbon for FFVIII. Very handy, especially against Marlboros, but normally one outside of Japan wouldn't be able to use it.

Lol you aint seen nothing till you fight the dark aeons in FFX.

BTW, america doesn't get the dark aeons. Too bad for most of you guys! They were tough!

Penance is OFFICIALLY the hardest sidequest boss in FF history.

What/who/where is 'Penance'? And what FF is he/she/it in? I've never heard of this boss before. O_o

with a mastered dark knight, you could prolly do without a ribbon since a dk is immune to many status effects.. but your torn since you need gunner with catnip in via infinito too.. i wish there was a three or four slot option.. like FF8? (never thought id recommend something from FF8)

i dont like how the only way you can get auto-life is getting that garment grid (forgot what/how/who/when) it'd be usefull IF i didnt need to have the garment grid that allows you HP/ damage breaks. =[

just what does "the end" garment grid do?

vegnagun wasnt much of a challenge.. two dk's with an alchemist on speed.. your set.

going off topic ish, can anything from this game touch penenance really? i mean relativly?

PENANCE kicks your ass without a thought even when your at max stats, you need 2 plan well 2 win, and lots of patience with 12 million hp, one mistake and its curtains.

TREMA, i am on chapter 4, so close 2 destroying u...heh heh. well at least we can all definitly say that ffx-2's omega weapon is the weakest of them all. i almost burst out laughing at his hp.

you beat omega? He keep turning invulnerable to both magic and physical attacks on me and kicks my arse. :/ He's annoying. AND random battles of him are annoying.

ok i didnt know there was a boss of him. i was talking bout the random one. i just turned in flower floral and wiped him out with one grand whirl.

when i first saw him i got hyper scared, because in ff x he always kicked my ass cause he has 999,999 hp in the pal version and my team was quite weak. used zanmoto in the end, felt so cheap but it was such a long walk and i couldnt be bothered. its funny how nemesis crumbles with ease before me now.

PAL version rules doesnt it!

Hey did the pal versions get any extras in X-2?? I dont think we did.....

Have you tried using a Dark Knight's attacks against him? Or maybe getting a 777 on Random Reels? I don't know if either of those work, just making suggestions to make life easier.

PAL FFX-2 got no extra stuff.

US version rules...cause we got it first, and you had to wait a lot longer!! :tongue::love:

I was maxed stats maxed levels and everyone in mascot uniform and it took a half an hour

i dont know this hard thing whit omega or ultima or the other guy thats in the portal. i only used dark knight and they all di nice and easey. the on in the portal has allot of hp thoug boring i killed 2 of em i wonder if u get anything for killing all thre of them... gona do that this time.

but angra manya is different. i was fighting him bout half an hour and took off nearly half his hp. however his flare and predition flame are impressive and being only lv 50 at time i couldnt do it. got wore down gradually. he,d be easy if wernt for those moves.

however at lv 99 i doubt he,ll be a problem. i,m about to start the via infinito..., i,m scared lol

flare is reflectable, so if you cast reflect with white magic (but one of their attacks sucks your MP) or if use an Alchemist to use a star curtain, itll bounce back and do 9999.. also, casting haste on everyone helps... but it still takes awhile.. unless you happen to have a catnip =P

Via Infinito doesn't get hard until level 80, 40 if you have a low level. The only bosses that I've had a bit of difficulty or have been said its hard are:

Black Elemental
Concherer
Chac (its stone stare is so strong it destroys your units and stones even with ribbon)
These 3 also appear as random battles in Via Infinito level 80+

Angra Manyu (more annoying than hard)
Paragon (I wanna fight this oversouled, is there another way to fight it?)
Trema (same as manyu)

Are you positive? I really don't think so. They got the international version last time, but I don't think this time. FFX-2:I+LM was released a mere two days after PAL FFX-2, it doesn't make sense that they could have the international version.

I beat Black Elemental! Now...has anyone actually beaten an ELDER DRAKE?

Yes, and it's so easy you'll smack yourself for it. 3 Berserkers all with Evade & Counter. It will never hit you (as long as you don't perform any magic) and it will be rendered helpless to your attacks. For a quick battle, have one of the girls with the Force of Nature.

Now I'm at that boss on Cloister 60...arrrg I cannot win >__<.

hmmm. my team was quite weak and i know he is easy in the long term. man i remember griever whiping me like ten times in a row, though i had very few abilitys unlocked.

now i hold the record on a dead site called ff8gurus for the quickest defeat of ultimecia.

which is the hardest boss guys? trema? paragon? azi material keeper clone in far plane? who is it exactly?

the one on the farplane is easey. dark knight and darknes and ribbon and 100% more hp and he is done fore. if you explore in chapter 5 you will easely gett 3 ribbons. and 100% hp can be found as well as won in blitzz

I had a hard time with Chac, that annoying basilisk.

i just killed that cloister 60 first time. tough only thanks 2 catnip lol if he had been anywhere near as fast as elder drake he would have whopped me.

i,ve come 2 the conclusion that ffx-2 has loads of super bosses cause the last boss really is riduculous. humbaba, ultima weapon, angry manyu, experiment, black elemental. all easy in the grand scheme, but at least there attacks can hurt u.

those elder drakes r insane though. thank god there hp is low. now i have chac, paragon, trema, azi and random king tonberry's to beat. then i can wrap up ffx-2. i tryed 4 hours 2 get into blitzball but is so bad i gave up. thank god it isnt needed 4 100% or celestial weapon type things.

yes, finally finished ffx-2 with 100%. well, here is my final super boss list...

1.PARAGON. attacks fast, attacks sumtimes ignore defense and big bang is fatal. he must be defeated quickly.
2. CHAC. that sneaky basilisk(sp) is a cunning b****** with sum speed. i doubt i,ll ever be confident fighting this.
3. TREMA. lots of hp, but with soul spring to rob his mp and with calm commanding tactics, hes a breeze. only meteor is any real threat.
4. CONCHERER.(sp) sum strong attacks but his lack of speed makes him a walkover.
5. MASTER TONBERRYS. fast, big and scary. howver with high defensive characters no problem.
6- ELDER DRAKE. fast but again with high defensive characters, a laugh. this guy used 2 whoop me??? i feel dirty.
7- BLACK ELEMENTAL. high magic, but a moogle beam or cactuling gun and...
8- LACERTA. attacks ignore defense normally and high evade. normally only deadly in groups of three. a cool customer.
9- MUSHROOM CLOUD. u need ribbion 4 this guy. normally deadly when he has allies, but even then he is dangerous cause he can petrify. if u dont have status protection against this guy and dont have catnip at ready or at least very fast characters...run.
10- INSECT MATRICH(sp)/his alter ego. two variations of KING VERMIN but both alot harder. however for a team who beat CHAC, no problem right?
11- AZI DAKAHU(sp). at farplane and via infinito, very high defense and drain touch, but to a battle hardened team easy. just watch out for deamocles(sp) photon.
12-ANGRYU MANYU. lots of hp but weak attacks compared to the above.
13- EXPERIMENT. can be a problem to the average team but low hp makes it laughable. it would have beat vegnegun though.
14- ULTIMA WEAPON. a joke, but meteor can threaten the average party.
15- HUMBABA, quite a force one first sight, weak in grand scheme.
16- DARK MAGUS SISTERS. a compulsory super boss that may threaten on the first play, but like me, your be laughing at the thought of these girls ever beating u again.


ok thats my list. is there any super bosses i missed? also how much harder is PARAGON when over souled? i only need him and CHAC over souled to have killed every boss and i may put ffx-2 away.

Nah we didnt. I have the PAL version, we got screwed with FFX-2.

I havem't gotten him to oversoul but heard he was very annoying throwing constant nova attacks and stuff.

3 Berserkers all with Evade & Counter. Don't use magical attacks.

i just wish these bosses would hold a sparkle to the weapons or ozma or penance or the dark aeons. meh, at least there harder then warmech.

Are you talking about Ozma as in the big rainbow-colored floating ball thing in FFIX? That was one of the easiest bosses EVER.

nope, i,m afraid u mean it CAN BE. as i,ve stated many times, it has the meteor curse combo. if used at start of battle or any point, at its max potential, even with auto life, u r toast! other times he is so weak its unbeliavable.

fight it hundred times, i bet u wont win all of them! ozma, the bite bug and penance r its too faces!

trema and chac and paragon dont have this ability. they r weeds to ozma. they r even weaker then ff8 omega weapon. now THAT is one of the easiest bosses ever!

yup. just have either 2 or 3 berserkers that know evade & counter n_n

Anyone who says Vegnagun was easy has to be joking. He was the only boss who was a worthy opponent for me. I have't had a challenge like that since Breath of Fire III's end boss. I loved that Vegnagun fight, it was just such a shame when I had to fight Shuyin, I felt so close to him. I haven't battled Penance yet cause I haven't beaten all the Dark Aeons, most I beat with Yojimbo. I haven't gotten round to beating the Via Infinito dungeon yet but I'll do it sometime.

I agree that Ultimecia's a total joke, I just get an aura'd Rinoa to keep using Limit Breaks over and over in the hope she uses Wishing Star, after 2-3 minutes, she'll always end up using it. 5-6 Wishing Stars will do it. I haven't seen Ozma in 9 yet, but Hades was laughable too.

What level were you at when you beat Vegnagun? That might give some insight to your opinion of this boss fight, because many (including myself) don't share your feelings. Maybe you used a different strategy too. I don't know, I personally haven't had a difficult ending boss fight since Skeith in .hack/INFECTION (which I did last night).

All my characters were hitting Lvl45/50 when I got to Vegnagun, I was using a Garment Grid which allowed me to double the HP/MP of each character, Rikku's Machina Maw had HP Boost or whatever it's called, and I was using the Maw to nuke Vegna with lasers, also alternating to Floral Fallal and Full Throttle. I constantly needed to heal both myself and my backup attacks on the special garments with heal commands, one slipup and I was cannon fodder for Shuyin and my other two character would have to heal the knocked out ally which took time I didn't always have. Rikku using 'Maw had 9999HP by the time I fought 'Gun's head. The only thing that enabled me to fight against such overwhelming odds was the fact my party was healed in between fights. I seem to recall my supply of 99 Phoenix Downs was running frightfully low by the time I fought Shuyin. Thankfully Shuyin wasn't quite as powerfull as Vegnagun and didn't have two backup allies to support him like 'Gun's Core and Head had. Could someone who overwhelmed Vegnagun please tell me how you beat such an awe inspiring opponent so easily. I just can't believe it.

Seryn Kai, I see the flaw in your strategy. Well, it's not really a flaw, it's just not using the game mechanics to their fullest extent. The special dress spheres are good and bad at the same time. They are good because they can do a lot of damage and give status ailments you don't have access to until later in the game (i.e. confuse). But they are bad because they take away the ability to perform multiple attacks at once, but you still let the enemy have that ability. To have the three girls on the field at once is much more powerful than using the special dress spheres. I only ever used the special dress spheres when I was in a bind and I only had one girl left standing. To all the girls on the field attacking at once, or even two girls attacking and one healing, just works better and faster. Faster is especially important because the battle system in this game is based in large part of speed and thinking on your toes. Give that battle another try (if you have a save file), use Yuna as a Dark Knight, Paine as a Berserker, and Rikku as an Alchemist, and see how you fair.

SeedRankLou- Thanks, I knew I must be doing something wrong. The rest of X-2 was so easy, yet the end bosses so hard. HP was the main problem, and I used Special garments as a means of shielding my other two characters. I initially used Dark Knights for the tail and the leg, but after HP became an increasing problem, I used 'Maw instead. If I had competed in the Sphere Break Tournament I could have gotten the Alchemist sphere, but I forgot about the tourn during my frantic attempt to find out more about Vegnagun and Bevelle. I didn't get he Beserker either due to my momentary lack of memory. It's shamefull, usually my memory's good. Next time, I'll try your combo. I'm gonna start again soon to try and get Tidus back for real rather than as a ghost memory.
