Okay hot shots, name all of the planets that can be seen with the naked eye.
venus, earth, mars, jupiter, saturn, uranus
unless you mean right now and then earth.
I meant at night.
And you're almost correct.
neptune then.
nope
Add Mercury.
I only ever look at Uranus. (okay, stupid, but someone had to say it.)
A list people, I need a list.
Technically, we can see any planet with our naked eye, unless the planet has so high a gravitational pull that 'black holes' out, and pulls in all visible light.
But, of course, you mean from right here on Earth.
Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn.
Uranus, Neptune and Pluto are too far away to be seen, and Mercury is too small and too close to the Sun to be seen.
Nope, but you're close DocFrance.
Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn.
Correct! You win!Quote:

I was hoping that people would forget that Earth is visible with the naked eye, but eest got that in the first try.
This was supposed to be like those trick questions that someone alwasy answers wrong like:
Q. If a plane crashes on the border of France and Germany, where do you bury the survivors?
A. You don't bury survivors.
or
Q. If a rooster lays an egg on the peak of a roof, does the egg roll to the left or right?
A. Roosters don't lay eggs.
What other trick questions do you know?
In that case, you failed. Miserably.
If a butcher is 6"2', what does he weigh?

He forgot Uranus. Though Uranus wasn't discovered until William Herschel found it with a telescope in 1781, it can actually be seen with the naked eye on a dark enough night.
Link: Proof
Dark enough nights don't exist in LA. But yeah, I admit defeat.
Nothing personal, I'm just a big fan of the Bad Astronomy website, and part of their goal is to clear up misconceptions like that, so I had to do something.
Huh, I never new that. Cool. Good to know. :)
i feel better now!
The sun, moon, Venus, and parts of Earth.
