Taken from Athlon Sports' 2004 baseball preview. . .
So perturbed was one Yankee fan in August 2003 that he actually put pitcher Jeff Weaver -- not his baseball card, not his jersey, not his used bubble gum (a la Luis Gonzalez), just Jeff Weaver -- up for auction on eBay. He described the ineffective mid-season acquisition as being "in fair-to-good condition, hardly used and showing minor wear" and added that he was "acquired by mistake in an attempt to keep him from wearing red socks. Must sell ASAP. Will take offer from qualified bidder... talent not included (missing talent might be located in Detroit; buyer's responsibility to procure; no guarantees)."
Another former Yankee, Jeff Nelson, once sold bone chips from his elbow on eBay, but apparently selling body parts isn't allowed. And yeah, Luis Gonzalez of the Diamondbacks sold a wad of his chewed gum for something like $10,000. I've also heard of souls, entire California towns and minor league hockey franchises being sold on eBay, too.
Well holy crap, Unne.
Search for "empty box" and look how many people sell old empty boxes, and how many people actually buy them.
I want a vintage invisible shirt... ;_;
Poop!!! it's nastey!!!!
wonder how much i'll get for a empty ps2 box *starting bid £1000000*
I don't recall the auction number for it, but I did see someone selling "absolutely nothing"

I remember a few years ago, before the Xbox was released, someone put an Xbox Box up for sale on eBay. It was just the promotional box from the stores, but people didn't realize it and the price, before the auction was shut down by eBay, got up to something like $400.
Description (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...120660136&rd=1)
MY HUSBAND JUST HAD A HEART ATTACK AND I MUST SELL HIS CARDS TO PAY THE BILLS! THIS IS THE BEST DUTCH AUCTION YOU WILL EVER SEE ON EBAY! TAKE A LOOK YOU WILL LOVE IT. I PROMISE. TO ALL MY HUSBAND REPEAT CUSTOMERS THANK YOU AGAIN!! I'M GLAD THAT HE COULD BRING THESE DEALS TO EVERYONE. HOPEFULLY HE WILL BE BACK ON EBAY SHORTLY.
(Bold mine).
*shakes head*
I have about 15 of those invisible teeshirts, best 400 dollars I ever spent.
*goes and buys the contra code written on a napkin*
I would not like an invisible tee shirt. Smart idea though, reminds me of Homer and his paint-on shirts (and pants!) :D
I heard of some girl selling her virginity on ebay! They highest bid got up to 18 grand before ebay admins closed the deal!
I heard about that. I heard she was like 14 or something.Quote:

Why would anyone hate you? We like wood.

How sad.
Anyways, I really hope nobody bids on it, because then I'd have to lose what little faith in humanity I have left.
I can't believe people actually bidded on Contra code written on a paper napkin. Not only that, the guy is making serious profit off of it. But eh, I remember someone sold an XBox Box for $380. The girl who bidded was so pissed because she paid for it. The auction even said "For all those thick-headed people out there, this is just the box, not the system itself."
But eh. Like Einstein said, "There are two infinities. The universe and human stupidity. I'm not sure about the former."
Thanks for the laugh everyone! :)
Holy crap, I gotta buy that, thanks Bleys, your my hero!Quote:

Which makes me mad. How do you shut down these dumbasses' so-called products?
I signed up for TradeMe today and bidded on a Sega game for two bucks.
DAMMIT I WANT THE SEVENTY FIVE DOLLAR GUITAR! LOOK IT'S SO PRETTY AND ACOUSTIC AND AND AND...

Ha, Bleys found the one I found. Damn. Now I have to think outside the piece of wood ordeal. I also found such things as "how to regain your virginity", a cure for the common cold, lots of people selling money and alas, no lint. But my personal favourite, going only by the titles as I can't get further than that at work, is this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...161050539&rd=1
Please tell me it really is what the title says it is, because that's so cool.
That was really stupid...
Really, really, really, really, really, really stupid!
This reply was to Endless.
Those were really goods!

AND it comes from Moncton ;_; That guy puts my province to shame :(Quote:

That was really funny...
Haven't got a nice laugh since last year!
I'm crying!

I had a lot of fun with the description on the last one.
Aww, I thought it said stupid crab on ebay. Everything's not coming up hooters. :(
I checked the category in which that last item was listed. Damn.

Serves the fools right if anybody bids on it.
I liked the 110 in shipping. I thought that that was appropriate.
ARGH!
BoB, you ass!
The bugger bid on the freaking piece of wood!
Since I'm in the UK, I'm still debating on which lucky girl or boy I'm going to send it to.
EDIT: It's also quite tempting to bid on that bent paperclip, now that I've seen the item information in all it's glory.
EDIT: Oh, by the way, keep in mind I found Bleys' piece of wood and was about to post it as a part of this thread before I found out that he had already linked it and before I realised that it was him. It was a genuine find. Bleys knows what I want. I want Bleys' wood.
EDIT: Alright, who the hell is wilkinb? >=|
I don't think he's anyone from EoFF. He's frelling daft to bid that much for a piece of wood. Just like someone else I could name but won't.
Oh, and btw, BoB, if you win the sucker, I'll make an exception to the shipping rules and send it to Scotland. Just because I know you, though.
EDIT: This guy wins. That's even dumber than the stuff I listed.
I'd sell the hair of numerous EoFF'ers if I wasn't so sentimental and respecting.
Just as long as they aren't pubes.
I bet you that would sell like hot cakes.
No, she was 18 and she was a lesbian. She needed to pay off her student loan.Quote:

Hot dog. I'm going to get rich by selling sticks on eBay!Quote:

Probably not as they don't allow the selling of body parts, excrements, etc... on ebay.
how do you know this? Have you tired seling people's body parts again? On ebay?
No, but there have been stories about it. For some reason Ebay doesn't want to supprot the black market in the kidney-resale dept.Quote:

I looked at this clump of dog hair auction (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...161168032&rd=1) and the "Buy It Now" price is $30. I hope someone actually buys it. It will confirm a lot of my ideas about people in general.Quote:

Okay, ew.
Does anyone remember that "haunted doll" someone was selling on eBay? They claimed they bought it at a flea market or something, and their cat died a few days later. All this bizarre stuff started happening, so they threw it away. Buuuuut, it appeared back in the house the next morning. Riiiight. The doll was pretty creepy-looking, though.
I saw a news report on those once. They're supposed to be less uncomfortable than plastic or metal speculums. :DQuote:
