I was wondering if there were any rinoa haters like me out there! Because everyone I have talked to or asked before always say "how can you hate rinoa" or "shes the coolest and prettiest" I despise her! shes annoying and ends up with squall even if you try and be a total jackass towards her! poor quistis ^^ Rinoa is the worst final fantasy character ever in my opinion... what do all of you think?
i thought rinoa could be very annoying and immature and pety. but she is a teenage girl and very pretty. se may not be any where near the greatest ff character but there is alot worse around. zell, irvine and seifer were all far more annoying.

I thought she was better than some characters. Quistis for example. She didn't even have a personality. When was she an big role in the game? Beginning and (SPOILER)when they found out they were all in an orphanage. I didn't always like her, but she was ok to me.
She isn't the best female charicter but she wasn't the worst...

I cannot stand Rinoa. First of all, she's easily one of the most annoying video game characters. She throws fits when things don't go her way.
True, she's a freedom fighter. But why is she fighting? Simple, to piss her dad off. She's playing adult games with adult lives to make daddy mad.
When Seifer, the man she'd dated (and may still have been dating), dies, she's sad. For about an hour. Once they get to Galbadia Garden, she's already trying to get into Squall's pants.
She constantly needs to be saved, she's selfish, and she's pathetic. So yeah, I hate her. :D

Rinoa is bad. So is this rap. But my rap's existence makes sense. Rinoa's existence did not.
In her defence... she went out with Seifer the summer before the the events in the game, a year before meeting Squall. Everyone was saddened by Seifer's death, but they're all fighters so they were prepared to face that kind of bad news. She was basically flirting with Squall from the time they met, but since she wasn't seeing Seifer then, it doesn't reflect on her morality too much.Quote:

I found Rinoa to be a little more open and positive than Squall, certainly demanding and uppity, but strong in a way too - going on with SeeD in a fight that doesn't concern her, because it's 'the right thing to do' for the world.
Still, not every female game character can be like Lulu or Aeris or Celes; there's always going to be a mixture of good and bad.
rinoa may be awful in many ways but shes a million times better then maria from ff2. i prefer annoying whores to 2d cut outs.
Well I'm not saying she was with Seifer then, but it really shouldnt matter. I mean... flirting with someone an hour after someone who was important to you (friend or otherwise) has just been killed is just wrong. She had been flirting with him from the beginning, yes, but once Seifer was dead she threw herself at Squall.
i thought aeris was an awful character too. i was laughing when she died! and there were manty times where rinoa should have died. besides the whole group has to stop what they are all doing and save her immediatly. but thanks for the rplys!

I really hated Yuna in FFX. Her voice and the way she was always soo thankful and appreciative made me sick. Everywhere she went she bowed like 30 times to some prick or another. For the most part I think Rhinoa was a way better female Character then Quintist or Selphie. Also Aeris is not annoying she sacrificed herself to save the earth and also what kind of sicko laughs when a someone dies especially somone as sweet as Aeris?
Aerith is a friggin video game character. Her death isnt some terrible event we should all cry about. I laughed my ass off when it happened.
Selphie annoyed me, but Quistis had a sense of class and calm, which pretty much everyone else in the party was lacking. The only thing that sucks about those two was the way Square shoved them in the background and didnt give them any development or spotlight, instead focusing only on the angst teen love deal with Squall and Rinoa.

ok maybay not but i feel more for aeris then any other computer game/anime/film/book character and most real ppl too. not bad for a friggin video game character lol.

I seemed to hate all the main love interests in FFs. Aeris wasn't really the love interest but i still hated her. When I reached the City of The Antiencts, I was smiling so much:D:D I hurried along, eager to let her die. I almost cried when the rest of the party stopped Cloud from killing her. Tifa was way better. Rhioa was just as bad. I would of preferred if Squall had ended with Zell or Irvine. When I reached the end of that game, Zell, Irvine and Squall were on L100. The ladies were on under 20. Selpie was on L12. On FF9 Garnet sucked so much ass. Vivi should of just burnt her to deat. Then I would of enjoyed her part in the game. Yuna *sigh* was proberley the best out of the 4. Although she still sucked. As Tidus in the swimming scene when they kiss I so wanted him to keep her underwater and drown her. Although I used Yuna alot in Battle it was only because no-one else could summon. At the end when she (SPOILER)runs through Tidus and falls over, I really wanted her to fall of the ship.
Well, all i can say is go TIIIIIIIIFFFFFAAA

I guess the contrast of Squall and Rinoa made the game insteresting, probably giving more effect than a down to earth love interest. I guess it would have been good to see a more down to earth relationship in the game, with another couple.

Rinoa was Ok, she lost her Mother at a young age, and hence, puts on a cheery exterior to hide her grief... Squall is the only person who could relate to this.

Rinoa was like... pretty realistic. She was annoying, bothersome, had little concept of common sense, but was pretty cute. Hmm... sounds like a lot of girls I know. Do I like her? About as much as I like any other annoying real life girl.

Well, I thank Rinoa for stealing squall so i could have a shot a quistis (god, im such a lame fan-boy)! But her personality kinda pissed me off, the annoying "love me" personality. If she could be more like quistis, she could be more of an acceptable lady... :D

Rinoa was just a twit. She was a good character in many aspects. She was a present day hero, joining a force to help Timber gain indipendance. She was a girl with normal fears- she didnt want to go and die( by trying to stop the sorceress she could have),but she didnt complain. She even tryed to stop Edea on her own. yes but cloud WASNT ZACK. he was a mix up of the two and after the life stream event he didnt lose zack within him, only he realised the truth. the bottom line is cloud loved them both and they both loved him(the zack and cloud bits) and thats why there love triangle rocked so much. someone would always lose out.
I thought Rinoa and Quistis were okay, but, I actually hated both Aerith and Tifa. No one would want me to list the reasons.
The rap was okay as well, I think...

Rinoa is by far my favorite female FF character of all the games. She provided an good contrast to squall and made him a better character in the end. Plus she's like the prototype for the kind of girls I like IRL :P which I guess makes me biased. The worst FF girl was Rosa she had no interesting personality traits whatsoever.

I don't 'hate' any ff-character, but I don't 'hate' people in real life either, so maybe that's just me...Though if I would do that, I'd fail to see the point in 'wasting' my time talking about that.

So she was free-spirited, and a lill ditzy...most girls here age are a LOT worse and practically throw themselves at boys, at least she picked on and retained her dignity.
Am I saying it's wrong to throw yourselves at boys? No. I mayself fail to see the use of it, but if you like boys that much sure why not?
As for losing your dignity, love is a valuable thing...So what if you have to lose dignity if it'll mean a happy life ^^ Ofcourse I suggest avoiding losing your dignity, but if you think swallowing your pride once will grant you eternal happiness. My point is, many girls are a lot 'worse' than Rinoa...hello, hormones! It's a fase, and after maturing many people think 'how could I ever have done such a thing'. If we all had all the answers from the start then what 'd be the point of maturing anyway...or living for that matter.
As for me, I like Rinoa's character. A lot.
But you could have guessed that from my nickname.
I personally Like the FF8 character set quite a bit. They tend to be more done to earth realistic characters(althought they tend to lean to the extreme sides but that is alright). I know many a person that makes rinoa look like a saint, and I have never been for those perfect legend heros that some games have... I like them being human and having their faults, it makes them more likable imo. And she does sorta grow up throughout the game.
Rinoa is better than Quina or Garnet... I mean, Quina REALLY REALLY SUCKS. Selphie is cool while Quistis is depressing...
Rinoa is a free-spirited girl, okay, she speaks without thinking in the consecuences, which normally drives her to trouble but at least she´s trying to do something for the world´s sake.
And if I remember correctly, she once said: "I don´t know, I think I was in love" (refering to Seifer, of course), well, I say, if she had to think, then she was not in love with him, ´cause when you´re truly in love you just know it, you feel it, it´s not as if someone can tell you if you´re or not in love, it´s something only you know.

Anyway, Riona is actually a well developed character. She has an opinion, and tries to get her way. I'll take that any day over the "Tee hee... whatever you say is surely right, protagonist!" mold that many female love interests seem to fall into.

Regardless of the fact that you are our only white mage, and only caster of any competence, you should leave this "war" business to the men and start making dinner. And then they tried to do it AGAIN at the end of the game! Thank goodness the females had the good sense to ignore them that time!

No, Rinoa says "I don´t know I think I was in love" when Selphie asks her if Seifer was her boyfriend (in Galbadia Garden). Futhermore, Rinoa is strong, I mean, she´s not a SeeD and is not trained as well as the rest of the gang are, but she´s there, fighting alongside them.
I personally like Riona, She reminds me of my wife..
I've always hated Rinoa. I disliked Aeris too. Yuffie was terrible while we're at it. :)

Without Rinoa ffVIII would be even better. And i think it was Seifer who made a mistake by going out with her, no wonder he didn't want anybody to know.
