FF3: Sabin's/Mash's Blitz

the ones i have so far are aura bolt, pummel, seismic throw, and fire dance. which one is the most powerful of them all?

Final Heaven. Duncan teaches it to Mash in the World of Ruin.

Also, we are talking about Final Fantasy VI right now.

I prefer Phoenix Dance, myself.

It really depends on the situation. Pummel is armor-piercing, so it's good against a single target with high HP and defense. Aura Bolt is holy-elemental, so it's good against undead. Seismic Throw will do four times its normal damage when the target is the last enemy on the board, but it's useless against flying critters. Finally, Phoenix Dance is good against a lot of small enemies with low magic defense (or a weakness to fire).

I alwyas used Fire Dance at that point because it attacked all. Otherwise, Aura Bolt.

I could never get Suplex to hit so I just said forget it , I didn't know it could do 4X damage. Also, I thought the Japanese name for the technique taught by Duncan in the WoR was called War Dance...

on mine it was BattleDance.

but i thought the real one was BumRush?! :confused:

Apparently Final Heaven can also be translated as Battle Dance. I have no idea how, though, and it's not even as good a name, so I kindly reject it.

Using translated terms from the Japanese version boggles my poor head. Is Phoenix Dance the same thing as Fire Dance?

Yeah, it gets confusing sometimes 'cause Kishi only uses Japanese titles. Not as confusing as the Street Fighter series, but confusing nonetheless.

Sometimes I'll say Espers instead of Genjû if I'm feeling complacent.

Air blade and Bum Rush are the ones I used.

Bum Rush is awesome (despite the name) although Fire Dance is useful earlier on. Sabin could pretty much waltz through the game by himself if you use him properly.

Eh, I can see why Woolsey called it that. I mean it's exactly what it looks like he's doing. It's not a very martial artsey sounding name of course, but Woolsey's translation didn't really indicate that Sabin is a monk so oh well.

oh well. BumRush (or, in my game, BattleDance), is the best blitz ever.

Out of Sabin's original 3 blitzes I prefer Aurabolt because it's easy to do on a routine basis and looks very nice. Fire Dance pretty much renders every other blitz useless at the point when you get it unless you're fighting a single enemy. Air blade is even better and Bum Rush is the best.

According to some on EoFF I'm not playing enough. Yes, he's a monk. He's of the monk class. Wanna know how you can tell? He uses monk weapons and has monk attacks and aside from that in the Japanese version his class is listed as "monk".

And all this is reinforced by the fact that he lives away from civilization at the foot of a mountain range, and that he's seen meditating in the opening FMV from FFAnthology.

ah. i see now. *is thinking about Neverwinter Nights, where the monk class uses bare fists as weapons*
