IQ tests are crap, as long as you know how to take them you can score really really high
I took one at school and got a 148. I think someone told me that 149 is genius, so if that's true, I'm mad.

Last time I took a psichiatrist sanctioned iq test was back in kindergarten where I got a 139. Haven't taken one recently except one on the internet that said my iq was 150, which I'm pretty sure is not true. Mostly because it was on the internet.
IQ tests measure your ability in both Linguistic and Logical/Mathematical fields, excluding all else. Therefore they are, by definition, very shortsighted in determining actual intelligence, as someone can have poor language or mathematical skills and still be considered intelligent.

I realised why I only scored 'above average' the second time: I just couldn't figure out the numerical puzzles. It was like 1 3 6 ... etc etc and I couldn't figure out the pattern.
Then they had huge numbers which were probably square roots of 3-digit numbers. I just said 'screw that'.

People who worked at my old high school always said they weren't allowed to tell me my IQ. So I don't know it. Nor do I care to know it.

I believe an IQ of 80 means that you have the ability to function and communicate normally, so I'd warrent we all have at least that, though IQ truly IS an inexact science.

Online ones are probably crap. I know I'm smart, but not IQ 208 smart.
Never taken an actual, psychiatrist administered test.
When I took placement for summer programs, I scored a 144 or something like that, but the lady told me I should consider more testing because that one was shortsighted and couldn't measure full potential. I didn't care then and I don't now, but the online ones score me between 130 and 170 o_O.
And Lehteb, I was laying in my friends floor and someone had written gullible on her ceiling and we laughed alot about that.
Took one with a psychologist and was told I was somewhere in the 150s, but above a certain point the resolution of test breaks down.

all web-IQ-tests are crap. a real iq-test takes about 20 hours to take if i remember correctly. But what The Captain said is true, with a iq of 80 you can act normal. Here in the Netherlands, some lame-ass bitch beat some innocent person to death without a reason. Later, at the trial or something, they discovered his IQ was 55. A fact is that the worst cases of people with a Down-syndrom have a IQ of about 50.

I've never taken an IQ test. As far as I know, the scores aren't standard as to what's a genius and what's a warrants a "normally functioning" person. It all depends on the test you take, they're scored differently. In some, genius is in the 160s, others it's in the 140s. My psychologist/psychiatrist told me so.

The IQ tests are crap. It depends a lot on how you are feeling at the time and it only measures a few capabilities. I've done two tests in my life, the difference in result was of 50 points between one and the other. And if 100 is average..well....uh...it means I am 50% more intelligent (Based on average intelligence) in one test than in the other. I really don't care about my IQ anyway, and I don't think a test can determine it, and I believe that is preety obvious: The conditions will always be different. To score what I really could score, I'd need to be in optimum conditions, and that is not going to happen, and even if it happened, I could just slip on any question for whatever reason. The reason why I believe IQ tests fail is the same reason why I believe an exam will not show you your knowledge on a topic. I have an exam tomorrow, I'm really nervous: If they ask me about John Rawls, Karl Popper or Charles Taylor, I will pass. If they ask Habermas, I can fail.

How do you get an IQ of 200+? I thought 150 was genius level :o
I've taken the MENSA test and a couple of online ones that got the same result (many that got nowhere close though). I got 142, which is average for my family. We're a bunch of yokels though. IQ is pretty low on the importance scale.
Inaccurate though they may be, that doesn't mean that I'm going to ignore my rather pleasing score of 133. Of course, this makes me superior to people of 132 and below, so I take care to point that out to those people whenever possible.

IQ tests determine your mental age. Mental age does not necessarily have to be the same as your chronological age at any point in life. Mental age MAY or MAY NOT grow at the same rate as chronological age. Just like chronological age, mental age can never go down. So if your mental age is the same as your chronological age and it goes up one every year along with your actual age, you'll have an IQ of 100 which is pretty good.
Indeed. you are by far, the first person i've noticed to actually know the truth behind the iq, and not believe some online crap. Online tests cant evaluate an actual iq because of the simple reason it evaulates intelligence of said person, not what an actual iq is.Quote:
