I've heard you mention them all the time but where in the game does it say that?
I pretty sure they never mention it in the story line, but there Islands on the world map where the toughest monsters are and heaps of hidden draw points.
Theres the Island closest to Heaven and Island closest to Hell.
Whenever you open up the menu screen, there's a line bearing the name of your current location. That's how we know the names of the islands.
Thank you. I'll have look next time I play.
Holy halitosis, a malboro! Do you think he wants tea?
EDIT: Hey, i knew you don't spend FF8 fighting cigarettes. Really.
EDIT, THE SEQUEL: It seems this lovely creature has gone both with and without the extraneous "R" throughout its Final Fantasy incarnations. For FF8 continuity, i'll leave it out here.
I was never able to kill one of those, even though I was super strong. I hate all the status ailments they put on you. All to get some bloody malboro tentacles.
:D
You also get a great load of exp, much ap and may get Hypno Crown or Cursed Spikes instead of Marlboro Tentacles (You'll need the tentacles to get Quistis best weapon). However, to kill them, just equip 100 Sleep, confusion, berserk to the status defense and remedies or something to heal the stats with. (The GF Doomtrain is recomended.)Quote:

I always used Quistis' limit break to kill them. Degenerator? I think that's what it was.
Where I can find the Island close to the Heaven?
I already know where is the colser to the Hell! I only killed Malboro three times and it was with Odin! Thanks Odin! He came in a great time! (For the first time!)
The Island Closest to Heaven is on the Eastern half of the map. Can't remember exactly where; it's a little trickier to describe than the ICTHell. I know there are Chimera on it though. If you want quick levelling, the Hell island is better, but Heaven does have some useful items to collect from fights.
I think the ICT Heaven is located near the place of Trabia that has a strange brown mark where you can't land.
heaven has more marlboros than on hell.. =[
use doomtrain for a marlboro? doesnt that heal it? or is doomtrain effective if you dont boost?
Doomtrain is for the stat-defX3 ability.Quote:

isnt it defX4? but i see what you mean :p
The islands closest to heaven and hell were the eastern most and westernmost islands on the world map i believe.which comes on what side i can not rmemebr
Yea, that's what I mean. And when Doomtrain is used, it's mainly because of the stats effects, not the dammage. However, Malboros are immune to everything but Meltdown.Quote:

Lets see... Doomtrain can be kind of spotted in the Occult Fan magazines, which give hints on how to get it. To get Doomtrain you need the following items:
- Solomon's Ring: found on Lunatic Pandora's base, that platform which has huge stone cubes and a Budha statue. It's lying on the floor.
- 6 Remedy+: Refine them with Alexander's MedRef ability.
- 6 Steel Pipes: Those ugly, green, Hulk-like monsters which can play basket with one of your party members. On the forest near Dollet, where Mr.Monkey is, you can find them.
- 6 Marlboro Tentacles: You already know.
If you have all the listed above, select the Solomon's ring from the inventory, and you should hear a kind of howl, and Doomtrain will speak.
And you need to get Solomon's Ring before the Lunatic Pandora incident. Otherwise, you're gonna have to wait till Disk 4.
The islands also have about 655957542166456206549031646 draw points each. You can just run around and hit the action button and BAM, you'll get tons of para-magic.
Yeah, all you need is the Enc-None ability, and you cna run around getting Ultima, Triple, Holy etc.Quote:

To get the tentacles, I always just put as many status defense things on everyone as I could. Especially my mugger. If you have that, just mug it right in the beginning, and run. I don't relly think it's that worth it to try and kill it. They're a pain in the ass. Can't you refine the tentacles from some item, too? Or maybe I'm wrong...
:D
You could always just run straight away, hoping Odin comes along first and kills it. He seems to do that every once in a while for me.
You can refine from the Malboro cards. But I prefere to kill them. You don't need to kill 6 of them to get 6 tentacles, one singel high level Malboro can drop 6 tentacles. However, just make sure to junction the 100 confusion, sleeps and berserks and you will have full control of your characters, then cast Esuna or remedy to heal stats and finally, have Quistis use Degenerator, or whatever else to kill them.
Thanks ^_^'!
I'll pray for Odin to appear and to do what you've just said me Ultima Shadow!
I think that Malboro is the only monster that I don't like to kill and Odin only appear when I'm not in trouble!
But the best of all is when the new Odin appear and only take away 1 HP from the enemy!
Now by the way where do I get those Ocults Facts Magazines?
Heh, scary picture! :D Yea, Malboros is pain in the ass... atleast when they have first strike.
However, those Ocults Facts Magazines, I only know that one of them is found in the Balamb Garden library. But you don't need to have them to get Doomtrain. Just bring the Items and you can get one of the coolest and most usefull GFs in the game.
Oh, and the "new Odins" name is Gilgamesh.
Same here. I'd get everyone to level 100 with it.Quote:

odin/gilgamesh never comes while i fight marlboros.. likes to show up while im about to fight a bite bug or a mesmerise
occult fan mags:
I. Balamb Garden lib.
II. Dollet, just challenge the pub owner
III. FH, talk to the master fisherman when you first show up (before talking to the mayor)
IV. Esthar, talk to the guy in robes near the airstation, then go the palace and talk to the presidential aide, then he leaves. the mag is where he was standing. im pretty sure you have to do this when you first get to esthar, dunno if this works when your zell.
Plus, you can buy some of them in Esthar, or with Tonberry's CallShop command, along with his other Shop abilities. They are expensive, though.
i think you can buy just about all the mags in the game with tonberry's abilities, but yeah... im always poor so i dont have that luxory :rolleyes2Quote:

[SIZE=6]I got doomtrain, finally thanks![SIZE]
Don't you just love to act like the Malboros yourself? And I think Doomtrains attack have EVEN MORE stats effects than Bad Breath.
I defeated them (I didn't, I stole) byu putting two mugs (One ine Zell and The other in Squall) because one of them wouldn't get Berserek so they didn't and it was so great, now I'm not afraid of any kind of monster! Malboro was a nightmare, now I like him!
He's so cute!
I'm viciated in Malboros!
LIKE Malboros? Now YOU are scary! *runs away crying*
You know, at some times Ruby Dragons can get scary thanx to Breath.
I was able to destroy all of them. ANyone up for a challenge?? *snip*

I dunno why, but that's the rules here. Just a heads up, since you appear to be new. :)
