Annoying Pirate-looking guy

Does anyone know anything about him? He seems to be in many of the articals recently about the square-enix games and such. I circled him in red.

When more of KH II will be revealed, I'm sure we will learn more about that dude, whoever he is.

It wasn't just on the KHII thing either. It was on the one for Advent Children too.

Maybe it's just some guy they stick on it just to make us confused...

He has nothing to do with Kingdom Hearts II. It's part of the magazine. I think he gives little blurbs about the game. He's a mascot I guess ;p

My question is, why is he an 'annoying' pirate looking guy? What did he do that's so annoying? He seems rather lonely, and just looking to fit in. =\

I suppose it's just that mask that annoys me more than anything.

Yea, I think that pirate man is the mascot of the Shonen weekly magazine or something...

I always though it was heavy make-up and not a mask.

Well, if you blow up the pic, you can see that it's not connected in the fashion of makeup.

Hmmm...I thought it was just something they put on the Japanese Shonen Jump, like they always put Naruto on the English one. he IS weird lookin'...

You know, he may be a signature character in certain Square-Enix games just like Cid in the Final Fantasy series and Biggs and Wedge in FF8 and FF9.

Which reminds me, was there a Cid in FFX-2?
