The Hardest, yet fun way to beat it. (freaks only :D)

A while ago I did a "Ultimate Challange" tread. However, when I tested it out it appeard to be both easy and boring. This is something that I have tested out (or atleast IS testing out rigth now) and it's both harder (from the later part of disc1-the end of disc4) and funnier. This way, this easy game acctually becomes a great challang instead of the easiest of all the FF's. This is how to go: All the characters must have only their first weapon trough the whole game. Cards is not allowed to be refined into items. You is not allowed to draw from enemies or bosses (neither GFs or Magic), only drawpoints or refine items into magic. And finally... are you ready? ...Only junction Ability (mad rush, darkside etc) is allowed. No other forms of junctioning. No magic junctioning to boost stats and not even those 20%str and Auto-protect etc junktionings are allowed.

So mainly... your party have their first weapons... low stats (suprisingly useless attack command) and more limmited amount of Magics and GFs + can't get 100hero from the Laguna card :evilking: . In the very begining it's not so hard but since the monsters also lvl up... on my current place in this FFVIII challange I had to hit one of those small brown crawles 3 times to kill it.

And finally... the ULTIMATE challange (seriously, this may be whorse than Penance) to defeat Omega and Ultima Weapon this way (without the end ofcourse) however that's an optional super challange.

All in all this is just for FFVIII freaks who want to test their skill at FFVIII.

I guess I'll try it....

But just so that you know... some battles can really take VERY long time.

The most funny batle was Ultimecia I was scared, drank two glass of water, couldn't stop singing and listen music, I was really stressed, it was very funny and really hard!

So you have fougth Ultimecia this way? Yea, it must be a very scary battle. ;) Did you play trough the whole game this way so fast? I just defeated Edea disc1.

I initally am playing it this way, because I dont know how to junction!!!
I just use Shiva and Quezacotl over and over again and hope I dont die

I was scrared to death and I fought her with Vividaris, limits breaks and shiva and cactuar,my cactuar takes out 10000! ;)

No I took a little long but probably two months coz I've already known FF8 so it was kind of piece of cake!

Both Edea were so easy!

I'm at the point where I will try to beat Ultima Weapon. NOT OMEGA 'cause he's got those attacks that hurt everybody.

Sadly, it's going to suck just using Squall's Renzokuken with the weakest LB. I shall use my GF's as shields, not fighting tools. At least Ultima Weapon uses most of the time, light pillar, which doesn't harm your whole party.

WOW... looks like I'm playing way to slow. I'm a little later than at the middle of disk 2. Who was the tougthest boss so far?

Divinity, try to beat the game or atleast Ultimecia exactly this way. Not only without junctioning. The Ultimecia battle will be even scarier that way. :cool:

Oh... and in the Omega battle... this way the battle will actually be very hard since I your HP won't be 9999 + lack of hero Items. I guess you'll have to use GFs to block Megido Flame.

I'm on Disc 3 though!

Well, at least there will be a way to block the attack. I had none in mind, yet I was still using Gf's as shields. As for the toughest boss, I would have to say Edea. That Maelstorm attack she does is horribly screws up my party, and it's annoying with Seifer in the way. I didn't know it could be so tough.

I almost beat Ultima today. I was so dang close! I cast Aura on Squall, as he was giving Ultima Weapon a great taste of power, and Rinoa and Squall were alive. But, sadly, light Pillar hit Squall instead of Rinoa, and Rinoa was at really low life. It was taking me a really long time to find an Elixer, and by that time, Ultima Weapon had wiped me out.

How many tries so far? I guess it's a pain in the ass to not being able to have Siren and her reveal ability and therefore have to go trough the whole Deep Sea to reach him each time you lose instead of just save before him. :rolleyes2 And one more thing about Omega... to not waste all your GFs I think you should cast double on one of your characters and only block with that one. Then you cast double full life on the 2 dead characters. If your GFs are all dead, then you have no way to block and survive the next Megido Flame.

It took me somewhere along the five tries. Although, I'm getting closer and closer to defeating him. And please do not even mention getting past the Red Dragons, beating Bahamut, and getting to Ultima Weapon. I tried that before I got Tonberry's Level Down skill.... and it was nothing but hell.

Hehe... I can just imagine it. And geting the tonbery most have been close to hell as well? Tonberies go down so slow.

I had to use Diablos repeatedly, then Squall or Irvine's limit break.

I defeated Fujin and Rajin a while ago. First try... but that's only thanx to Irvy's Dark Ammo. How's it going with Ultima Weapon?

I've defeated Fujin adn Rajin lots of time, but the first time in Balamb I was really afraid, beacuse we had to stole a G.F., but everything turn out well!!!

FF8 isn't that easy, specially Ultimecia!

Atleast it's the easiest FF. If don't play it the way me and Lionheart Griever does ofcourse... only without junctioning make it harder than most other FFs.

We don't have MP!!! Which is great!!!! The characters are cute, the mosters are cute!!! Everything is cute!!!

Ummm... yea, rigth. The game is great. But it's still the easiest.

It doesn't stop it to be the best! Ultimecia isn't that easy and Malboro and other mosteras aren't easy as well!

Hey, I never said it was bad or something. I agreee, it's an amazing game but I just said it was easy.

Okay, I was playing FFVIII for a long time yesterday... I felt like throwing the whole damn PS2 on the ground with the controllers and all the game. Beating Ultima Weapon was so frustrating! Luckily, the non-draw GF's were very helpful with their skills. But luckily, I beat Ultima Weapon JUST BARELY. Irvine and Rinoa were in the yellow zone, and Squall was repeatedly using Rendozuken+Rough Divide having Aura cast on him. Rinoa helped with some of her LB', like Angel Wing. And Irvine would use his limit break.

The amusing thing was I beat him using a Cactaur. (Yes, it was hard to get him too)

Next: Omega. :D =Nigthmare HP + Megido Flame. But I belive Ultimecia and C:O comes first. How many total tries did it take to beat Ultima Weapon?

If you include the how many times I instantly died right at the beginning of the battle I say about 12.

Wenting trough Deep Sea 12 times... wow. Must have been a real pain to wenting trough it all just to die at the very begining of the battle. I wonder if I'm going to be luckier or not. Probably not.

I myself is rigth before second battle against Edea but I haven't fougth her yet. I'm playing way to slow. :rolleyes2
However... I guess the Ultimecia battle will be a real pain as well... both HP wise and Attack wise.

Thank god I've still got a few Mega Elixers for when Ultimecia uses Maelstorm, bringing your HP down to one...

Hey, Faced Ultimecia yet?

I was on the Island closest to Hell, drawing good magic from the drawpoints to help with Omega. I got all the non drawable Gf's, Bahamut being my best one. Tonberry's abilities for shops became very useful.

After I had loaded my party with healing items etc. I decided to go on with the story. *Sigh* Seifer was actually really easy, 'cause Rinoa's Angel Wing LB along with the really good magics I got from the Island Closest to hell wiped him out.

Adel was really tough, sonsidering I didn't have Rinoa... but I managed to get passed her. As for Ultimecia, I'm still trying, although she's remarkably tough, and it's really frustrating.

Cool... Myself, I use Quistis and Irvine the most... however, the only really useful ammo Irvine has is dark ammo because of the status effects but Blue magic can be very useful at times. I'm at CD3. Before Laguna dream with Ruby Dragon. Hmmm... 8 GFs + a few heros... will it be enough to take down Omega before he uses to many Megido Flames?

Apparently, I was just playing around, not really trying to beat Ultimecia or anything, but I got all the luck. Apparently, she was acting like a stupid retard, so I beat her. Do not ask, luck was apparently on my side.

And now comes Omega :eek:

I had some really BAD luck back when figting Cerberus. He used quake and tornado all the time. :rolleyes2 Doing about 1000+ dammage each time. However, float saved the day, before this I thougth Float was like the most useless spell in FFVIII + some status magics that I used to ignore have proven to be of great use as well.

i have to disagree with you because i believe that FFIX is by far the easiest :p

Now, that may be a matter of opinion. However... if you want FFIX to be more challanging. Then just wait for my FFIX super challange. :p However FFVI comes first.

Okay, I fought Omega today, and apparently, his attack pattern is so easy to memorioze, it ain't hard.

Omega feels like one of those bosses that I know I can beat, just, not in the mood. His Meggido flame did kill Rinoa and Irvine, but I used Pheonix downs and crap, then a MegaElixer. We were pretty close to beating him, but then he took Terra Break out of nowhere.

:) Luckily Pheonix came and saved the day. But I still died, but I can feel that I can beat him.

Cool... so Omega isn't that hard this way either?

To tell you the truth, Ultima seemed harder. Maybe it was because of the area, and the time you had to fight him...

As for Omega, one time I was really close to kicking his stupid Weapon ass, but then he used Meggido Flame. The annoying thing about him is earlier in the battle, you can always predict what he's going to do, but then, when he's at weaker Hp, he starts using random attacks like a retard. I'm sort of getting bored, but I'll try to beat him.

Yea... and it's annoying that your characters can't be at level 100. :mad: (lvl5 death).
Oh, so Omegas attacks actually get random when his HP is very low? That I never knew. But that may be because you normaly take him out with pretty strong attacks. If Omegas moves really get random in the end, then I guess you should use the hero-items in the end and not before the predicable Megidos.

I turned on my Ps2 about two hours ago, and decided to not leave my seat until I beat Omega. On my 13ish try, I finally got him. Although, I still used the Hero Items in the beginning, I saved a couple for the end, and I got lucky, 'cause he stayed predictable. Weird eh?

Congratulations! You have just proven that you'r an FFVIII expert player! :D

Ok, time to think out an FFVI challange as well.

A limited amount of Espers, maybe?
