Definitely Eminem and Sting at the top of my lists.
Perhaps one of the most underappreciated singer-songwriter of all time, John Denver. Only by understanding his music can you truly realize the contribution he made to the world. Another person on the top of my list has to be Barry Manilow. He is often criticized, though I'm not sure why, as his ability to write music for singing is second to none. He didn't write his lyrics, but the instrumentation to his songs is perhaps the best part.
Graham Coxon, Bic Runga, and Richard Carpenter.
Alex Wesselsky, Tom V.K., Erik Fisch, Georgij Alexandrowitsch Makazaria and Gary wheeler.
Jem is currently my new obscure favorite singer-songwriter I choose to promote.

Kurt Cobain.
Ville Valo, Jack Black, Mark White and the guy who wrote the lyrics for System of a down
Sting... I really like his songs! :p
I have to prefer Sting in movies eg Lock,Stock and Two Smoking Barrels
Mick Softley, Bruce Dickinson, George Harrison, a couple of mates of mine, and Paul Robeson.
bob marley/dylan. also, i like neil young. oh yeah, and johnny ca$h is awesome.
Neil Diamond and Chris Issak are cool
David Brent.
His songs weren't actually that bad.
David Brent isn't that the guy from the office
Yes, David Brent is the main character of "The Office" played by Ricky Gervais. In the episode of series 1, where they do some staff training, Brent plays some of his songs that he and his band "Foregone Conclusion" played.
oh yeah
I would be crazy if I didnt say my man! I would put up a sound clip if they both weren't too big. but if you have yahoo im you can listen to him play live in the chat room Online Singers Group-although he doesnt pop in as much as he used to... His screen names he would use are Raintherejected2002 or raintheunfortunate1...
oh you wanted someone famous? Id have to say Trent Reznor. I thought it was neat to have an entire album that sounded like he was talking about having girl trouble when it was all about his drug addiction...
And what do the pigs represent anyways???
Definitely Eminem. :)
yeah
Syd Berret, David Gilmour, Roger Waters, to name a few...
Sting! love him!
Phil Elvrum and James McNew at the moment.
thom yorke and
elvis presley (SPOILER)this is obviously a satirical joke.
I like Neil Young too :D
Daniel Gildenlow
Runners up- Neal Morse, Hansi Kursch, Arjen Lucassen. (All of these people also play instruments as well as singing & writing music/lyrics)
Amy Lee, definatly. She's extremely underated, but she has one of the most unique voices I've ever heard. And she's written the majority of the songs on her album, Fallen.
[q=Calliope]Bic Runga[/q]Yes please.
My favourite singer is Risa Ohki, but Bic sings and writes beautifully.
SOADs lyrics make no sense at all.
Yes they do, especially boom
Yes, but music in boom sucks ass.
And most of their lyrics mean nothing at all.
Example:
THE SPINE, A LINE,
THE FETUS IS MINE,
DON'T FORGET ME
DON'T FORGET ME
DON'T FORGET ME
DON'T FORGET
REVOLT, REVOLT, REVOLUTION,
COUNTER REVOLUTION COUNTER COUNTER REVOLUTION
THE MIND, MIND THE MIND THAT FEEDS THE BLIND,
AND HELPS YOU FIND,
AND MAKES YOU BIND,
THE GAME, IS ON, THE GAME IS ON,
THE GAME IS ON, THE GAME IS ON,
THE GAME IS ON,
THE SPINE, A LINE THE FETUS IS MINE [X 4]
A LIFE, DENIED,
COMATOSIS, COMATOSIS, COMATOSIS,
COMMENT ON MY WORD,
DEFINE, MY WORDS DEFINE,
MY WORDS DEFINE, MY WORDS DEFINE,
MY WORDS DEFINE THE LINE, THE LINE,
REVOLUTION, COUNTER REVOLUTION,
COUNTER COUNTER REVOLUTION, SOLUTION,
DISSILLUSIONED BY POLLUTION,
RESOLUTION STARTING WITH THE SPINE, A LINE
THE FETUS IS MINE, THE SPINE, A LINE
THE FETUS IS MINE[X 6]
It's a song opposing the Iraq war, believe it or not
They make sense, they just have a deeper meaning. Prison Song is one of my favourites by them. I love how Serj sings about what's happening in the world.Quote:

I'd have to agree about Weird Al. :p
I've always liked Pete Townshend. Good music and a good voice.
Chris Cornell definitely. :whoa: In fact I'm surprised that no one mentioned him yet.
Billy Corgan.
