If an EoFF world were to be created, would you like to be a leader? You would be the leader of a region with an independent government. If so, please fill out the following with your own details.

Name: Your name, obviously. Screenname, real name, political name, whatever. Preferrably the name that you're most well known as.
Government Type: Dictatorship? Monarchy? Democracy? Something else?
Name of Region: What you would name your region.
Values: The things that you believe in. This can include stuff like religion, happiness, freedom or anarchy.
Against: You can leave this blank if you like, but I figure some people would like to list a few things.
Plans: What you intend on doing once you become leader. Or at least, what you want people to think you intend on doing.
Propoganda: Anything you might want to add to convince people that you're someone they'd like to have as a leader.

Government Type: Democracy, though of course, all democracies need checks and balances, so it would a democracy in the style of a Town Meeting whereas any and all can attend all meetings of law making and can have their say, with also a court system and Constitution that has been voted on by all citizens. All elected Presidents would be allowed only one 5 year term and THAT's it.

Values: Actually attempting to get all citizens to vote, so that the actual majority will be heard. At the same time however, a free press, one completed uninvolved with any form of government so that the citizens can receive unbaised news and reports. Besides that, a universal healthcare system, a volunteer army used only to defend ones home but never for globalization, colonies, and the like, a fairly open trade market, though somewhat restricted to prevent complete monopolies, a well funded education system, as well as research system to continually push forward progress.

A very progressive tax system hoping to give money from those who have it in abundance to those who might be struggling. At the same time, two very important additions to this system would include: a security system for those who do make money so that they won't have to worry about losing everything they have so long as they pay their taxes into the system, and also a very determined social works committee who will continually push for jobs for those who don't have it, improved living conditions and the like.

As for the taxes themselves, there would NEVER be any sort of shrine or monument building as to me, it is seen as a waste of money and also a way of pushing one's superiority over others. Instead, taxes would be devoted entirely back to the people. Bonuses for bosses of companies and leaders of office would be prohibited because it would be expected that they'd be doing the best they can from the start.

An open debate for the citizens to voice their opinion and allow for actual interaction between everyone. There wouldn't be any classified information unless it is utterly needed, for instance, if there is clear evidence of conspiracy or corruption. If anyone in power is found to have committed perjury of any kind, they must be expected to resign based upon a vote by the citizens.

Finally, freedom of speech, religion, and assembly within reason. Any assembly used to promote hate, a la` the KKK is not tolerated. Guns are outlawed unless needed in times of war. Sports and other outdoor activity is encouraged as well as travel to meet new people and broaden one's horizons. There will be no death penalty, but those who commit acts of murder, genocide, rape and those of harsh nature will be locked away, to watch home movies of the people who's lives they've ruined or ended. If they can prove that they can function as a human being, they may be paroled, but if they are caught attempting another crime of the same nature, they will be locked away forever with no chance at parole.

That being said, cops, doctors, teachers, wardens, firefighters, scientists and the like will make the highest salaries, whilst other occupations such as actors, athletes, singers and the like won't be paid such insanely high amounts for jobs that while, yes are very important, do not effect as many directly.

Against: ultimate authroity by the government, mob rule, hatred, oppression, and lies. Any such act that can be deemed to cause hatred or hurt someone for no reason will be dealt with harshly.

Plans: Attempt to create a society that gives the power into the hands of the individual and the people, and attempt to present them with the best possible situations to make the best choices and decisions.

Propaganda: No need for it, as hopefully each person will believe in themselves and make their choices wisely and justly.

Idealistic I suppose, but it's what I believe in.

The rules are stiff though. You cause problems with the tranquil, friendly vibe of the island and we'll just throw you to the sharks, literally.

Against: Anarchy and authoritarianism, complete disregard of others, in a monkey-scratch kind of way.

Propaganda:
Zhem is losely based on my Shaem, but nevermind that. The nation is borne upon a policy of appeasement - everyone is kept happy, so they don't go nuts and kill everyone. Basically this entails heavy social programs and spending.
The government is an elected council divided into different branches that control certain thingies. Y'know, like diplomacy branch and healthcare branch. The councillors are chosen from a pool of academics and people who know how to do stuff, like doctors or even carpenters or architects. I don't know how they choose who's elligible for election, though. Thinking of that.

You'll have to pick one, good Sir Nait.

EDIT: On a sidenote, it always amuses me when people say they are against homophobia. Homophobia isn't always (well, to be technical, it should never be) the hatred of homosexuals but the fear of homosexuals or homosexuality. I'm a self proclaimed homophobe, but I have some good friends who are gay. I just fear homosexuality.

Sounds like an interesting concept, but is it wise to put the burden on people who will work, and make them carry people who do not? If folks are allowed to sit back and collect food and meals anyway, what's the incentive for anyone to work at all?

Sure personal advancement could be a just cause, but if you can survive without work, I'd be wary of laziness taking over.

Very true, but im counting on the human urge to always be better than someone else. Any beileve me if you had no computer, and television, and only the basic needs and u saw somebody with money and didnt have to eat the same government issued meals every 7 days you'd work... This is just a safety measure for those who may live on the streets or in stricken poverty... I always beileved it was the job of the government to take care of the people, that live in the country, when they cant/wont take care of themselves.

Politics shmolitics. I'd much rather be a corporate leader than a political one. I have problems imposing my will on others. If I were to be a political leader, I'd want to be Secretary of Defense, or Secretary of Science (the latter being analogous to Senate Committee on Scientific Affairs, or something).

It's impossible to rig these elections by asking people to vote for you as alliances are allowed in politics.

As for all this talk about voting: We're drawing up a map and will divide it into a certain amount of regions, hopefully 20-40. The members will then vote on which leaders they like the most, and the leaders with most votes will have priority pickings when choosing their starting regions. After that, well, wait and see for now because we're still working on the details, obviously. Proto and I have only had a few chats while settings things up and my main priority at the moment is getting everyone moving and drawing up the draft map (which is almost done) so Proto can make a cgi of it.

EDIT: I really need to emphasise that this is NOTHING to do with the map or the thread that Proto started. It's just expanding on the idea. This will be sort of an interactive world.

No problem - all the 'Name of Region' bits will probably end up being the name of your nation, not the name of the actual region... although you will probably be naming the geographical features anyway.

and b) Couldn't you also use nation states and set up an EoFF world bit and that might ease the mechanics a bit? Just an idea...

I am, as you can see, not BoB or Proto, but here's a suggestion:

You are a citizen of a certain state, I'd say - corporations need contracts, and contracts aren't self-promoting, you need government for that. You could be a citizen under a state, but have stuff in other states, like people working for you. :) Or something like that. Same for secret cults and stuff, and religions. *_*

Chances are they'd tell you to bugger off.

I imagine the only corporations of any sorts would be sea-trade...? Rather than have people working for you, you would just put yourself at the 'top of the food chain' or whatever - you'd be the leading supplier to various places, they would pay you for what they get from you, and they would sell what they get for whatever profit they like. The more people you sell to, the more money you'd make. Rather than having employees in various countries, you would merely have customers/clients. You'd have to be careful with the governments of each client though. I don't think corporations would be realistic in these times for these reasons.

True dat. Religions and such fit the role of the Big Corporations better in a low-tech scenario.

The closest I can think of a low-tech international corporation is the East Indies something something something, which was almost a nation unto itself.

Presumably, our universe would start out operating under a feudal system, or something similar. In this case, there would be no corporations of any sort. Families or communities might specialize in a certain trade, but large-scale companies wouldn't exist.

Personally, I'm opposed to the idea of a business world, but if we do choose to go along that path, it could work something like this:

Each nation would have dedicated settlements for each branch of industry (such as mining or arms manufacture). These settlements would provide their nation with items, and expand their operations into other states should the oppurtunity arise. As times change, and the business world develops, these industries could be taken over by an individual or group, who would then oversee any decisions involving that particular corporation.

As an example, suppose a human community were established, with the purpose of creating weaponry for their nation. This settlement soon became the chief source of weaponry in the local area, perhaps the whole region. It would begin exporting its wares to other towns, maybe to allied nations. Eventually, one of the weapons makers is able to buy the other businesses, becoming the main supplier of arms in his town (and therefore the entire nation). He now owns his own company, and can choose to establish further factories in other states (with their permission) to expand his empire.

In some cases, two businesses might exist within a single nation, in which case they could either merge their assets or compete for the custom of their nation.

Of course, this would all happen over a long period of time. No businesses would develop for hundreds of years, and depending on how exactly BoB and Prot want this world to work, it could turn out that none develop at all. It might be a better idea to have the towns stay as just towns, and not muck around with company expansion etc.
