Have you ever mistaken someone here for another gender? Some people have names where you don't know if they are boy(?) or a girl (?)

That's how I work these things. If someone has a male character's name in their username, I generally assume they're a guy until I'm told otherwise. D=

I tend to associate gender with either the screen name or avatar of a member, though often it comes up in general conversation anyway. The best advice is, if you're not sure of a person's gender, look it up.

At the time I had a database RedXII in my avatar so I was in the latter.
I sometimes get confused, but then when I can be bothered I actually look at there profile to see what gender they are.
Well normally I just assume everybody is a guy, except for the obviously girly members like Leeza, Eternal Shiva and Rainecloud. :smash:

I don't think I ever have. I've messed up a couple of times by saying "he" went I meant "she" (sorry zacks_clone =P), but I've never been mistaken. I can just tell these things. It's what comes with being a god.

People think I'm a guy fairly consistantly. And if someone's name is gender-neutral, most people will assume male.
Really? I can't imagine so. Probably because of the girl in your sig. But then again, you didn't always have that.
I just check the user profiles if in doubt. When I first joined I got mistaken for a guy a couple of times. :)

Since I'm thinking like that, anime seems to make me think wrongly. When I see users with anime in their avatar or sig, I usually think "female" straight away. Japanese character tend to be quite feminine y'know.

The only time I was ever mistaken for a girl was when I was in the animemusicvideos.org chat and some guy started hitting on me and i was like..."umm dude I'm a dude", yet he refuses to believe it and won't stop IMing me asking me about myself and what I enjoy doing.

I dont think of people online in terms of male or female unless I read their profiles or I can tell from their Screen name. FluffyKittyLoverSocks400032 is more likely to be female than XRockHardFootballPlayerX. Though you never know.

At first, I thought Kawaii Ryûkishi was a female, again because of the avatar and signature. I've heard many rumours, though, that he is in fact a male.
However, I'm having second doubts again. Recently, he has disappeared from the forum, which has lead me to believe he is actually a "sprite" like Bob from the show Reboot, and is currently lost in Cyber Space.
Either that, or he's spent the last month in a nudist colony.
Well the only person who maybe confuses me with a boy (if somebody did it) was here coz in reality I think it's a bit impossible becoz I think that you never saw a boy with breats... well everything is possible!

I don't think I've ever been mistaken for a man on the internet. That might be because I'm making sure I use feminine-sounding nicknames.
Outside of the internet however... *sighs* You see, I have this reeeeeaaaaaaally ambiguous first name, Gaby. Usually, women that are called "Gaby" are actually named "Gabrielle/Gabriela/etc", and "Gaby" is actually their nickname. But in my case, it is my first name. People like telemarketters call at home and want to speak to "Mr. Bernier" because of that.
Oh, and as a kid, my mother had this thing about having me wear my hair short and forcing me to wear my older brother's old clothes, so of couse I was mistaken for a boy back then. :eep: I guess I should be thankful I'm not flat-chested; at least I'm not mistaken for a man because of my physical appearance anymore.
