Well, after that brief moment of voting, we gained a full 0 votes from 0 members - leaving every single member tied! Golly! So, in these dire circumstances, Proto and I have taken it upon ourselves to choose the most deserving members to become the leaders of the 22 (yeah, we cut one out for convenience...) nations of the world! To figure out who was most deserving, we checked who had actually posted in the threads outside the join-up thread, and there you have it, 22 leaders, nice'n'easy. :) The regions will be adjusted tonight. Not to be harsh on the world, though, we've also added in a tiny little island in the middle of nowhere so that Proto and I can hang out there and watch over you and nuke your country if you do something wrong). Now, as for the ordering, well, we decided to go postal on that one. Here we go...

As stated, the regional map should be later tonight GMT, so hopefully we can get people choosing where they'd like to begin by then. Either way, we hope we've made the world good enough for everyone, no matter what region they end up in. So long as you can develop your region, we're sure you'll have fun. :) Once the regions have all been selected (and the exact locations of each city), we'll remove the regional borders, put up a map with your starting town/city/village/brothel/whatever it is, and we'll allow each one of you to start your own thread and get on track. =D

Remember that by selecting a region you do not OWN the region, you merely get to place your first town/city within that region. This is so all the nations will end up fairly well seperated.

Selections may begin, however if you have any questions regarding the geography, you might want to ask them first. Eg, which area is similar to a jungle out of an Indiana Jones movie (region 7) and which is a rainforest full of birds covering a lot of fjords (region 1). The deserts should be obvious, while region 16 has a lot of ice and snow. 6 is like the Bahamas, 20 is far from it - just a lot of islands covered with grasslands, forests and hills in a good fishing zone. While region 9 has a couple of volcanoes, it's region 21 that has the real mean mother of a blow-top mountain. The blue marks over some red boundaries show where sea travel will first be allowed. You won't be able to travel from region 8 to region 15 until we allow complete ocean travel.

If you want a full description of any region, let me know. Keep in mind that this picking type thing might take a few days.

EDIT: Oh, and as the tiny island Proto & I will run is not shown on this map, Czanthor, you may begin.

Region 7's center is effectively the leftovers of a very, very big volcano blast. This volcano is now dormant and shouldn't worry anyone unless they decide to dig to the other end of the Earth. However, there's a lot of volcanic rock and it certainly helped the place become more fertile what with all the ash, hence the small continent (or large island?) is almost completely covered in a thick rainforest. Hooray for the Amazon.

How about region 3?

It seems to have a varied geography, forests, and temperate climate, and from here I can, like, totally dominate region 22., and possibly even 20., while the lone sea-way from 14. to 20. is easily defended.

Wow! Hooray! :) I'm a leader.

21 is like a gigantic version of a Polynesian island. There's a volcano in the middle, and it's an absoloutely huge one. The forests aren't very dense. Beaches all around with a few small cliff faces here and there, but nothing too extreme as they don't go on for very long. The waters near region 22 are very calm but very wet. You'd get a lot of rain coming in from this area.

18 is a hard-grounded area for the most part, particularly over the barren mountains, North coast and the lower half of your Eastern coast. The area that would be sort of a 'waist' to the continent would definitely be your most habitable area, where you'd get strong agriculture going. The top of it is bloody cold, and at the tip of the mountains one could argue that it's the coldest point of the entire planet. The Northern coast is cold and barren and during the winter it's always coated in snow.

Other than that, I'm happy for you to make up your own stuff as you go - Proto or I will let you know if we don't like something. Because I just pulled all of that out of my arse. I suppose that's what you do when you're sorting this stuff out. I don't want to get into doing very lengthy descriptions, really, because then I have to keep my eye out so as to enforce how you do things. I'd rather you have flexibility.

I'd warrant most people will be attempting to find a location for themselves that offers both security and also trade, though the combination of the two is sometimes hard to manage.

I think I've found my territory, but since three people go before me, I'll have to wait and see what happens.

Well, I suppose I'll give my region of choice as well: Region 3. If 3 is not available, then 6 is my next choice and to round it out for a third selection: Region 16.

So to recap, Region 3 is my first choice but if that is taken either Region 6 or 16 are fine as well.

Sorry people, but I don't log in on the weekends so I haven't been on the boards since Friday.

And yeah, I won't be signing on after tomorrow most likely until the 25th of August or so.

Anyways, I'll go ahead and pick region (sorry everyone) 6. I like the tropical islands and they fit into the bio of my country of a tropical country where everyone plays in the surn during the day and kicks back to some good tunes at night and I dictate over it all to make sure all is well.

Since Mullet won't be around to govern his nation at first, how about we have a plot device such as a violent storm to stop people from invading his nation while he's away? Just a thought.

Seeing Mullet has taken Region 6. The possible remaining tropical places for those wanting Region 6, is.... Regions 7, 8, and 15.

Region 7 is mostly jungles, but that little desert region, that's actually one large beach. There's two of them side-by-side. Region 8 is particularly large, but there's a habital desert on the west side of the mountains, which is sorta tropical, near the ocean. And Region 15 has a long thin beach along the bay shore.

Oh nice. Mediacom cut my internet just in time for me to fall back several places. Oh well, I'm still a leader, I will take what I can.

Yeah, during long leave times (provided we have notification), users will be able to either have someone become a deputy leader or else their country will be effectively locked. If it's for too long a time we can just have their country have a revolution or something.

Nobody will be having a war that early on in the world anyway, I hope.

I've always been against stupid volcane building, but if we keep away from the very center of it - and that should be relativelly easy, considering the frikking mountain is in a chain - well, volcanoes offer many benefits.

Even though I've lamented to myself those people who built Pompeii, it IS true that volcanoes offer tremendous agricultural opportunities. Rich soil, for one. I think. Possibly.

If we keep out of the way of that stupid volcano, it shouldn't be such a threat. Except maybe for the ash. :mad:

If Baloki doesn't respond in 12 hours then I'll push him down the order. I hope everyone else has actually named more than one region that they want because it really helps speed things up when they have an order of preference.
