I often hear a lot of complainments that she's lost her maturity, simply because she's more free-going in then in X. I don't believe so at all. While Rikku is more hyper, and somewhat more ditzy in X-2, she still shows signs of maturity in the game. The fact that she acts like that is simply letting her true inner self out, perfectly harmless if you ask me.
You gotta' have something to lose it in the first place :lol:.
Give her a break, she's only 16/17 (FFX/FFX-2).
Well in my openion she was ditzy the entire time. Of course I've never played the games. (I don't have a ps2) But none the less she seems really mature in Suteki Da Ne. Which I downloaded from EoFF ;)

I agree, Rikku seems a lot less intelligent and mature than she is in the first game.
In FFX, she's intelligent and serious, as well as independent and resourceful. In X-2, she's much more giggly and clueless, and doesn't seem capable of being serious about even the most deadly of situations. As an example, observe her comments during the final battles.
However, she's still distinctly herself, and Tara Strong is just as good an actor as she was before. I just wish that Rikku's strong points from the first game - her compassion and her technical knowledge - had been given a chance to shine in X-2.
I think that Rikku is acting less tense. in all of X, everybody feared for their lives all the time because of Sin. Sin being defeated allowed everyone to lighten up and relax. this kindof explains why Yuna's wardrobe dramatically changes too. now she has legs =P
it's also safe to say that Rikku is too relaxed. i agree she's more goofy than she was in X. maybe she's just more slutty is all. her clothes say so.
I agree... in X-2, Yuna mentions that Spira's people are more upbeat, that they're taking the time to enjoy themselves now that Sin's ever-present menace is gone. Rikku could be seen as an 'embodiment' of that change.Quote:

That's what I thought was weird. They're all wearing such revealing, exotic clothes, but they go about Spira as if there was nothing going on. In real life, all the guys would gawking and drooling, but I guess that's life of the video game world, nobody cares what you were, they'll still act exactly the same :lol:.
Rikku is only 17, she's still a teenager. In FFX I think that she was too mature, having to deal with the ongoing threat of Sin and trying to stop Yuna's quest, along with helping the Al Bhed to stop summoners. Now that everything is alright, she can be the person that she really is, outside of the stress of FFX. She's mature enough for her age, she can just be as mature as she is now, not as mature as she needed to be in FFX.
All of you make very excellent points, except the for the ''slutty'' thing.
Slutty?O.o....If you run around in X you'll notice that some of the Al Behds wear stuff that reminds me alot of bondage and reveil more of what should be covered then what Rikku does.I think its just the Al Behd style tuned down a bitQuote:

I think just about anyone in FFX-2 lost their self-respect. Exceptions would be Wakka, Lulu and Paine since she wasn't in FFX anyway. It's too japanese for my liking.

the point of the girls looking hot but not being raped because it's a videogame, well also, if you really look at the game, Spira is an anarchy really. yes yes they had maesters, but even then lands were very lawless. its just not expected for anyone to have sick thoughts. the only evil in the world (of the game) are villains destroying the world and stuff. no sexual satisfaction is attempted. so it's like, even the villains are humane in that they aren't rapists. and yes Seymour kinda forced yuna to marry him, but that still isn't exactly sex. the concept of sex barely exists in the games. they're a place of innocence that couldnt ever be achieved in reality.
BACK TO THE POINT - Rikku is less tense because she can just live life now. for all we know she was really that way all along on the inside but she had to surpress that to be serious and save lives before.

rikku was clearly more mature and developed in X2....and she wasnt a kid. what delution is there that your a child from 15 up...maybe the british are just more mature than certain other countrys (ahem).
She was a full grown woman, not a 10 year old, and she proved it by going into combat and saving the world. instead of being a background character that always worried and tried to make things lighter she stepped into the front lines, drew her blades and got dirty, the fact shes a slapper is just part of her personality like Yuna is fridgid. if anyone wasnt grown up or mature it would be paine, hiding from her feelings, unable to become emotional or reveal her true self untill at the end she was forced too. rikku had grown into what and who she was and would be. acceptance and understanding or what you are is a part of maturity.
I think it's funny and fun how she's so childish. ^^
i wouldnt say childish...childish is when you slap girls or chase boys for kisses...when you wont share toys or sulk. shes funloving. comfortable with who and what she is and so she can enjoy herself. it's childish to sulk and pout and not laugh when teh worlds falling about you. :D
In my opinion, I think Rikku is pretty much the same. Her immaturity is natural, because she's in her teens still. The problem I had with her in X-2 though, is that I found her to be a little whiny. I don't recall her whining in FF X, but boy did she whine this time. :rolleyes2
i agree she was whiny, but paine lacked character and yuna was ...ahem.
i wouldnt put it down to age, i was fully grown and mature before i was ten, yet an old school pal is 22 and still hasnt grown up/matured.

actually you are wrong....the legal limit of age change is sixteen in the UK. you can get people pregnant and go and kill in war, but that doesnt define childhood, nor does the law considering it's differnt in every country...heck in zimbabwe kids of 10 are raped or sold into marrige to pruduce children.
at five i made my choice as a human being to become vegetarian and ive stuck by it....at that age i had learned to fight with swords for real and was defeating my fair share of opponants. we stop being children when we loose that sense of innocense
I don't think Rikku changed at all and Jolts remember FFX-2 is 2 years after FFX and she was 15 so it was 15 in FFX and 17 in FFX-2 and I agree Blank she is more relaxed and giggly cuz' she has no life threatening situations (until the end of course, I bet she gets a little more serious, don't tell me) except for the occasional fiend attack but they are all capable of taking out fiends.

However, it is awful what some children in the world are put through, like being sent to war or child prostitution, but they are still children. i dont think you need to get way into when people in the real world are considered adult by law. you say rikku is more adult in X-2 but the only adult things i see is the part where her and gippal or whatever his name is had a relationship. i loved that part. but anyway - she fought battles in X just as much in X-2. i dont mean to be concieted but i like my explanation best, she's been the same all along through X and X-2. she just had to be way more freakin serious in X because of the ongoing life and death paranoia. and she even had racial arguments with people. she was only 15 and she had to deal with that. in X-2 people are lightened up about beliefs. in X-2 it's more like everyone is people, and then theres the new yevon people (losers). i think you should keep in mind video game characters dont go as deep as real humans. a 'character' is just that. it is what it is and doesn't change. unless there's a sequal..haha. but even then it's only 2 years worth of a video gams worth of change. not as much as a real persons growing up. so rikku is 2 years older and lightened up. the end. if you dont like her in X-2 then you just dont like her because that's the person her character has become.
