I need to go to sleep and need to end some AIM conversations. What lines do you use to effectively shut a conversation down (while still maintaing friendships with the person you're talking to, of course :p)?

Well that's it for me.
Something nice and respectful often helps.
"It's been a real pleasure and honor, but I must be taking my leave for the night. I truly hope that you also find a way to your bed and have a pleasant, restful evening. Until we speak again, be of good health and take much care."
Take care all.
Gold, Captain. GOLD!
I usually go with the ol' "I'm going to bed. Night." *shut down* technique.
I just turn off the computer, and don't say anything at all. Nobody minds, or so I've noticed.
"i gtg. lata. Take Care."
"Right, I've had enough of your lousy attitude."
*signs off*
stfu and leave me alone :p
see you later peeps
*gives evryone a cookie*
*walks off*
thats wat i do!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just tell them the reason that I have to leave and say goodnight...not that I'm ever on AIM. :cat:
"I'd love to talk, but I have a baby waiting in the fridge, and I forgot to put a note on it. I'm really afraid one of my brother's will go eat it, and I'm just starving!"
"Sleep. Bed. Bye."
I just ignore the window :p
"I'm gonna go (play ps2/sleep/watch tv/eat/sleep/watch tv) now."
ohhh, Archie's changed his name again :D
Nobody talks to me so I never have to say bye
I yell and scream until they don't want to talk to me anymore. Or I go with the honesty old "I'm tired, I'm going to bed. Try and stop me."
I speak in 1337 until they block me then I go offline. :p
I usually say something like "Gotta go (eat dinner/sleep/watch TV,) sorry. Nice talking to you, bye."
"I've got to go....over here.....now.....yeah"
Well, when I'm on MSN, I usually say why I'm leaving, then I leave, saying bye or anything similar. If I'm on Habbo Hotel however, I usually say something like "trout, gramps got out of the cage again. brb" Then I leave
You: Pssst, the walls have ears
Them: What?
You:Lets leave it at that.
Them:.....
You:I have to go before the government pinpoints this signal
Them:uh...
You: Adios
*log out*
And people say I change my name too much, PAH!Quote:

"I have to go."
Makes it seem urgent. They rarely ask what I have to go to. They just say "ok bye."
Later.
GO AWAY.
IT IS TRUE HE HAS DONE ITQuote:

good to use, that one. =D
Usually when I leave, it's because I'm running out of internet time. (ENUFF is a dumb program and should be shot several times.) So I just say, the internet shuts off in five minutes, so I have to go. Bye! *leaves*
Or I say the phone is ringing, or I need to cook lunch for my grandfather (no longer effective because he moved out!).
Why don't you ever say that to me?Quote:

Because you always randomly slam on an away message like a BAD PERSON who doesn't CARE ABOUT LOVE would do. Puppy hurter! :cry:Quote:

Hey, let's rename the thread "Things Psy doesn't do when people IM him and then he or they leave"!Quote:

But I didn't htink you minded, Psy.
Oh, I also say, "Catch you on the flip-side," a lot.
Uh....I usually don't ever end AIM conversations. People usually get tired of me before I get tired of them :p But when I do end them it's usually "I gotta go dude" or "I gotta go [insert Mr. Encyclopedia's word for 'girl']".
'trout, yo! Its da fuzz! I gotta hide mah stash'
*close AIM*
"Yeah, I have to go" (read - somebody is kicking me off the computer)
"I'M TIRED. SLEEP. *insert more ramblings then quit*" (read - It's too late for Ryu to be online because she's now talking more crap than normal.)
'Hey, what does this button do?'
"well I got to go" Is what I usually say.
I just say that im going to bed and then sign off or put up my away message.
I dont go on AIM, but I use msn, so I end my conversations with "talk to you later, luv ya, bye *wink*" for best friend, sister and close friends and "Talk to you later, bye *wink*" for other peoples.
If I dont want to talk to the person in the first place I say Go away.
Generally, I say something like "Hey, I gotta go. Adios!"
well... it depends on WHY i'm leaving usually...
"I'm going to go now. i'm sleepy."
"crap, gotta go. ttyl."
"Kay, well i'm off now. Buh Bye"
simple and friendly. and sometimes i add a "it was nice talking to ya!" but... only if it was.
The answer to this is obvious, sign off with the following statement:
"Some people need to go get an ice cream sandwich... I need to go get an ice cream sandwich"
For extra comedy value rather than saying "I need to go get an ice cream sandwich", talk about yourself in the third person. :D
After some thought, I have determined that it makes Russia explode. :oQuote:
