I have this theory that most people end up liking their first Final Fantasy the most.(I mean, it must have been good enough to get them to play more and it has almost a nostalgic feeling to it when you replay) FF8 was my first FF (well to play a lot of, I actually played 7 first at my friends house) and I still think it is by far the best. (I love the junction system and the character development owned :) ) Go ahead and post your views on your first FF.
Yes I played FFVII, and it really is my favourite.
Hmm, I think this does apply to a lot of people. For me, however, it doesn't. The first Final Fantasy I ever played was Final Fantasy I on the NES. While I am fond of the game, I don't think it's the best in the series, nor to I enjoy it the most. Final Fantasy VIII is my favorite all around installment.
It doesn't aply for me. My first was VIII and although it is a great game, it can't match up with VI and VII.
That doesn't really apply to me either..
The first Final Fantasy I played was FFVII, I do love the game, but FFVIII is my all time favourite.

times FFVIII is my favorite...and so it keeps spinning...I can't decide
which Final Fantasy game is my favorite.
FFVI was my first FF and it's still my favourite so I would agree with that theory. However, it seems that it is not true...
FF9 is my first final fantasy, and i think its definatly true! FF9 is just simply the best ff ever.
Guilty as charged. :) Final Fantasy IV was my first, and it's still my favourite. Albeit I love Final Fantasy VI just as much (sometimes more, sometimes less, depending on my mood), but that may be because only 2 months passed between my first playthrough of IV and my first playthrough of VI.
I said most people so, so far it's working out :D . Also, if you consider the possibilities of FF's that people could have played first you are definitely going to get some people who chose a not as liked FF.Quote:

My first Final Fantasy was 7, which I did like alot because it was my first rpg ever and introduced me to the genre.
However, I later played 8 and absolutely disliked it..
I was about to give up on the RPGs in general, but then I saw an adversement for 9.
I decided to give the final fantasies one more shot, and ended up buying it. Final Fantasy 9 is now my absolute favorite in the series and modivated me to get as many of the other final fantasies as I could.
So my favorite Final Fantasy was my 3rd~!
My first Final Fantasy was actually the first, but I was too young to understand what it was, so I don't count that one. Aside from that, my first Final Fantasy game was Final Fantasy VII, which also got me hooked on RPGs (unless you count The Legend Of Zelda as RPG, but I count it as mostly action).
However, it is not my favorite. It was for a while, and then I played Final Fantasy Tactics, which is now my favorite game of all time, and like Ayamaoko, it is my third Final Fantasy game to play (not counting FF1). After beating FFVII, I went to Final Fantasy VIII, and in the middle of that, I rented Final Fantasy Tactics.
After playing it, I searched and searched at the stores for, but couldn't find it. Then, Squaresoft (now known as Square Enix) re-released it as a 'Greatest Hit' game, and I immediately bought it for the $15 they priced it at. :D :D :D :D :D :D
Aren't greatest hits $20?
Oh ya, im canadian and american and canadian currancy dont have the same value, so they would be priced differntly

Actually, that's only the suggested retail price. The stores can sell the product for as much or little as they want. After the stores buy the game off of Squaresoft, Squaresoft couldn't care less how much the stores sell them for.
But yeah, you said you're in Canada, and I don't know the price differences for that, so that might be the reason as well.

I'd easily give up a chance to replay VII to replay VIII, VI, IX, IV. In that order.

my first ff game was viii and you guessed it, it's my favourite. i love x as well but viii does hold a kind of nostalgia for me and i feel connected to it's characters.
FF VII
Mine was for a while (FFVII) until I played more FF's and realised that FFVII really wasn't THE BEST in my opinion. FFIX is my favourite which I played kinda second/third.
The first one I played was FFIX and then I played FFVII and it became my favorite.
FFIV was my first, and despite the poor English translation it is my favorite of the series and always will be.

It's hard to say. Whenever I replay a final fantasy game I realize, "Oh my god, this is the greatest final fantasy of them all" And then when I replay a different game I realize "Oh my god, this is the greated final fantasy of them all"

My first was Final Fantasy 5. Nostalgic? Oh yes, it definitely is. The best? Naw.
It doesn't quite pan out for me, since Final Fantasy IV was my first, and Final Fantasy VI is my favorite. Still, they are very, very close in my estimate. Final Fantasy VI only edges out IV as my favorite because it has my favorite character, Terra, and the absolutely saddest scene I have ever seen.
(SPOILER)I always start bawling at the ghost train scene where Cyan gets off the train, and sees his wife and kid get on it...it's just so sad. Poor Cyan...

My first FF was ff5. . . I made my friend tell me just what 'final fantasy' was about, and he sent me a pack of roms to see for myself.
It isn't my favorite, but it has a special place in my heart-- I'd definitely consider it one of the best though:) My favorite though is probably eight. I love that thing to death.
I voted no, I first played FFX and my all time fav is FFVI, but I prefer D2 games over D3 games like FFVII upwards

My first was Final Fantasy IX. That got me hooked so then I played Final Fantasy X. Then I played Final Fantasy VIII. Finally, after playing THREE, my favorite was Final Fantasy VII, my fourth.
(I will give you that Final Fantasy IX was my favorite until I was halfway through Final Fantasy VIII).

No, FF7 is my least favourite FF.
I started off with FFVII, then I got VI soon after... I thought VI was my favorite until IX came out. IX was my favorite until 2003, when FFXI came out.
FINAL FANTASY XI is the best game ever made!
