Post any FFVIII Rumors you've seen floating around (If you know if they're true or not, please say so.)

I'll begin with the Rumor that Cloud is an NPC that can be unlocked in some way, however I don't remember how, but it involves Deling City. (Most likely FALSE.)
well there's the one about Laguna being Squall's father, which i definetly believe to be true.
"Griever" is obtainable by your party as a GF.
All signs point to FALSE.

You should write (R=U)=false, because if you look at your statement you said. (SPOILER)Rinoa=Ultimecia=False, in other words Rinoa and Ultimecia are false. (they don't exist I guess). Just like how I could write 2+2=3+1=4. R=U hasn't been proven wrong anyways, but I don't think it is correct either.Quote:

OH! If you have a FFVII save with a revived Aeris and a FFVI save with revived General Leo and a FFIV save with a revived Tellah on your memory card, there'll be a new person in President Deling's mansion. If you talk to him he asks you if you wish you could go back to the way things were. Say "yes" and he'll remove all your items and GFs and set everyone's level back to 1. Everything will be like you just started the game over again, only easier 'cause you're at level 1. If you manage to get no items or EXP until you get to Odin, he'll ask you a series of questions about the game (like the SeeD exams). If you answer them all correctly and then beat him, he'll give each of your characters (even ones not in your party) 100 of every spell! Status = TRUE!!! And the (R=U) theory, I think it may be true...I mean, everything Ive seen points out that it exist more evidence that its true, then that its false..
I personally know a few knuckleheads that refuses to belive its true, just because it´s a, with exact words, lame ass gay theory that only losers come up with :D

I think it may be false, i've read most of the posts that some beilevers have posted. lots have said it's Rinoa gone bad, but, Squall had promised to be her night no matter what happens, and as i remember Edea said that it's mainly the sorceresses who don't have a night will go bad, Rinoa has Squall. That's why i don't beleive in it(SPOILER)If Squall had died in Time Compression then there would be more light on the R=U theory, even i would beleive it (if that happend)Quote:

about Zell being their son, that's kinda related to the theory that all the FF games are connected. ALOT of stuff in some of the games does seem ALOT alike.
the zell son thing is bogus!
in theory it can work but ff7 and ff8 are set in different worlds at different times so it just doesn't work with connecting characters.
and yes ff gamesa seem similar like cid in every game or the same personality in every game but its not related.

no i think, as far as i can remember, the theory goes along the lines that all the final fantasies are all on the same world, but in the wong time scale order. so it kinda goes 9, then 10 and then 8 and 7 cus there more techy etc, summat like that, i think. :)Quote:

There are really gaping problems with the one world theory, though many of them can be resolved by getting very creative.
You know, things like:
After FFVI, (SPOILER)all magic is gone from the world. Not to mention the damage Kefka managed to do to it- Sepiroth *almost* crashed a meteor into the world, but Kefka re-arranged all the continents, and turned a sea-trench into an island. This suggests that FFVI should probably come last.
The early games are heavily dependent on crystals. Usually elemental crystals which vary in number. Destruction of these tends to do things like bring about the end of existence. The later games do not suffer from this at all.
FF IX had many airships, but most ran off mist. All other airships do not need mist. By the end of IX, there were many ships which did not require mist. Howver, IX had summons, and early ones did not. (I am tempted to ignore this part however...)
It's fun to compare. Any list I make starts off with IX- airships advance, a single crystal is shattered by Kuja, who perhaps also created/summoned the four fiends. The shattered crystal could arguably become the many elemental crystals of the later games. Black Mages are created in this game, so any game featuring them must come after IX. (perhaps they are not created after a point).
The list also always ends with VI. Magic has ended at the end of the game. The world starts off recovering from a near-apocalypse with destroyed much technology, but some still exists. Also, Kefka does such an insane amount of damage to the planet before he is stopped. Most villans don't manage to do quite as much.
Other associations: IV and VIII may be at least relatively close to one another, due to the moon being covered in monsters. However, the crystal era must end sometime between them.
VII must come late enough to be post-crystals. I feel it arguably comes after VIII, but it can go both ways. (Estar -> Midgar? The increase in gun-like weapons supports this. However, the greater freedom of space travel in VIII does not. Probably, need another FF in between, perhaps one not yet created.)
FFI could come very early on. Not only is there a strong link between I and IX with the crystals and fiends, but the airship in I could be lost technology from IX.
Really though, I think they are entirely seperate. It is fun to compare however.
well now....i believe i have a new insight on the FF series...i never thought about the comparisons between all of them...

However, how do you account for the differentiating structure of the continents? It doesn't seem possible that they could change THAT much.
Again, I don't really think they are connected, but my argument in favor of it, in terms of the continents, would go something like this:
We have no idea what time scale the world would be on, or for that matter how much time takes place in between each of the installments. Assuming the FF world operates anything like earth, there would be conintental drift. It could even happen at a greater rate.
Yet, I don't even think any continental drift is required to justify the change in land forms. A great many of the FFs have cataclysmic events, many of which drastically alter the landcape. Kefka is only an extreme example- this extends to events not even directly in the game, such as the first lunar cry in FF8 which formed the Centra crater.
Add to this that we have no idea how many other "Final Fantasies" occured on the world, and how much time falls in between them. Considering the probability of near-apocalypse events when Final Fantasies do occur, I don't think it unreasonable for the land masses to shift into any imaginable shape.
yea, i one of the theories i'd like to be true cus it sounds realy good, but i spose if it were square would have said somthing or made it more obvious. but hey...
I once heard that the Final Fantasy series went in a reversed timeline [FFI last, FF12 First (for now)].
I also heaviliy doubt it's all one world.

Also, FFVI has a 'death of magic' but FFVII and VIII both have magic being something... different than in the previous ones. In VII it is the force of the Planet being used, while in VIII it is para-magic (taken from Draw points, so form the Planet also in a way) while in the previous ones (and IX which is probably a lot earlier in the timeline), it basically seems like an inherent power. Then there is X. Lulu is an 'old school' black mage again, so X should be pre-VI then?
