Do you celebrate Christmas as a religous holiday, commercial holiday, or do you not celebrate it at all?
It's commercial, baby.
I celebrate it both ways, but mostly commercial. ^_^
I think you should add Traditional way to the list. It's a warm happy medium between Commercial and Religious and that's where I like to be. I like the giving and receiving of gifts and the fact that everyone goes to see family and has a nice big dinner. I accept it as a traditional holiday rather than a religious one, and because I don't buy into the commercialisation ie, spending hundreds of quid on crappy lights and giant snowmen, I don't celebrate it as a commercial holiday either. It's all about tradition for me.
Commercial, if anything. I couldn't care less about Jesus. Oh well, at least I'm honest, eh? :p
it's more commercial than anything else for me
I'm not religious, so it's commercial for me. I try to think about the family aspects as well, though. :)
i said religious though.... don't hurt me! ^_^;Quote:

I'm kinda with Doc Sark. I'm Christian, so I celebrate Christmas as the birth of Jesus and such. With Christmas Eve candlelit services at church, etc. But it is also about the family tradition for me. Everyone gets to be together and eat and exchange gifts. All of us grandkids get up and go have Christmas Eve breakfast with our grandparents, which has always been fun. And the Saturday before Christmas we all go with my other set of grandparents to Natchitoches to watch their big fireworks display, not to mention the gator-on-a-stick. Mmmm. So, while it is very religious for me, family and tradition is very important too.
I [img]http://home.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/heart.gif[/img] Christmas.
Someone told me that Santa's outfit was changed from green to red so that he would fit in with the Coca Cola adverts and products. That might be a rumour, but I know a few people who believe it as fact! And I'm sure we all know that Jesus wasn't even born in December, so Christmas seems pretty darn commercialized to me. :D
I would add an option for a little of both but I don't have superpowers here. It's more religous but some commercial for me. My Mom is really religous and I'm Christian so thats the way it was. Not having very much money growing up helped that along too.
Sadly, it's true.Quote:

Santa's suit was changed for CocaCola? I'm giving up on life. >.<
Anyway, I really enjoy Christmas, as a time for family, and enjoying the company of those close to you. Gifts are just a small thing that adds to the holiday, showing your appreciation for your family and friends. "Traditional" Christmas works for me, but in general, I think it's become a very commerical holiday.
coke invented santa, he was st nicolas and he wore green.Quote:

As a Jew, I feel that I should point something out.
Y'shua (Jesus) was born on the first of Nizan, which falls in late August, early September every year. Never ever has it, nor will it, fall on December 25th, based on the way the Jewish calendar is structured. Jesus was a Jew, who lived in Israel, practiced Jewish things, and lived a Jewish life, therefore, we can assume that his birth really ought to be based on the Jewish calendar, which hasn't changed for thousands of years.
Feion
It's comercial for me.

Or at least, something like that anyway.
I LOVE CHRISTMAS!!! =D
Presents > Anything else involved with christmas, except for christmas cookies that taste good.
Commercial reasons. I'm not a really religious person.
Me too :skull3:Quote:

Hey, since when is Christmas just about the presents? Aren't we forgetting the true meaning of this day? The birth of Santa?
I guess I shoulda expected this with so many members of BAoTW around, huh?
Most people know that Jesus wasn't born on the 25th and I think Scholars believe he was born in the summer, but the question is does it really matter when we celebrate his birth? I voted religious because in my family we don't go present crazy and open them all at once, we meter it out over several days. (sometimes it is annoying because it has passed new years before) We go to the Christmas day service most of the time, though sometimes one or two people just go on Christmas eve.Quote:

The results of this poll make me proud to be an American.
People sadden me.
Thank you for that. It's irritating when some people pick apart every little thing.Quote:

My Christmas will be merry, regardless.
Where at least you know your free? Is it time to stand up? Sorry, old country song. My parents plagued me with them as a kid.Quote:

I think us Brits are much more commercial towards Christmas than Americans. Remember the advent calendar threads? All the American ones were about Jesus, and ours were about chocolatey goodness
Next thing you know people will be selling solid chocolate "Jesus Bunnies" in England! Weird.
...you reckon? Awesome!
Religious. It is one of my favorite holidays.
I want to eat a chocolate Jesus in a bunny suit!!!!! <3 <3Quote:
