how long is it for a newbie not to be a newbie anymore?
It's all a matter of the person's outlook on it. There's a point where nobody really knows.
I think a person is no longer a newbie when there is no doubt that they've been accepted into the community and when they understand the rules and begins to follow them.
Edit: I should start using whole sentences. >.<
am i a newbie??
i joined two weeks ago but the user name got screwed so i'm back with a new one...
hey i'm i still considered a newbie i joined at the beginning at this month. but i'm on here all the time.
Your both Noobers to me.
I've been here over 2 years, yet I'd say the majority of people don't know me, so by that right, I could be a newbie.
I say that you're a newbie until you can't be nomiated as best newbie in the ciddies.
*boris no no bows in awe to heath and the undeadhero*
I've been here 1 week, and I'm not a newbie ;]
I usually consider people noobs as long as they've got bad spelling/grammar and mostly posts pointless posts.
-edit-
*replaces censored word with "bad"*
I'm not a newbie, atleast I don't think I am. I've been here for atleast 4 years. o_o
Your user name was not "screwed" it was merged with your first name because you keep re-registering.Quote:

Whether or not you're a newb is based soley on you, I suppose. It's how you carry yourself around the board. I've seen people who have been here for months who I still consider a newb while at the same time I've seen a newb post in a thread after his 'entrance' thread and didn't think of them like a newb anymore. ^_^
I wish I were still a newbie, gives me an excuse to 'accidently' do wrong. -evil grin- =3
Most see it as no custom title = newbie, But it depends on the person.
no....i was borisnono i didn't re-register until it wouldn't let me log in. then i discovered that all my posts and threads are now bakabakabaka which is very different. the profile is different.Quote:

Almost three years ago, I made a list of every person I considered to be a veteran, and everyone who wasn't on the list was a newbie. I haven't looked at the list since I first made it, but I'm pretty sure not too much has changed.
I've been here for almost a year... cute :) I must be a newbie....
wait nm I didn't see yours :p Well you never realy posted atleast in GC until recently :p sorryQuote:

For what it's worth, I remember the newbie days of everyone who has posted in this thread.
Kishi's newbie days were more memorable (and less numerous) than the rest of them combined ;)
Embrace the life of a newbie and the life of a newbie will embrace you! :D
Mine? :eek:Quote:

ok... so i joined in october... judging by this thread that makes me a newbie still (yay for newbie's!)... does that mean i can make my own newbie thread?
you see, i never had one :( :( :( and i regret it so much :crying: :crying: :crying:
I guess I'm considered n00b too! ^^
Hey! I joined like a week ago, and I don't think that I have any of those qualities. So, am i still consitered a newbie? :mad:Quote:

And I hold no illusions as to my own newbie-hood. I've been here for 363 some odd days, almost a year, but I've had something like a 6-month hiatus where I never even looked at this site. And I am most definately a newbie.
everyone is a newb!
My registration date says I've been here nearly two years, but that's because I made an account once, posted a couple times, then forgot completely about at and was on hiatus from the internet altogether. I just recently starting posting regularly, so I can be considered a newbie in that regard.
I think whether or not one is a newbie is a very subjective case, one where registration date and post count are irrelevant. I think it's a mentality, rather. I'm in the habit of completely ignoring post count and registration date when reading posts in a thread, because I've been to a couple forums, one I'm a long-time member of, where the so-called oldbies would spend more time harassing the newer members then they would setting a good example. Additionally, the importance of a high post count caused an unbelievable amount of spamming. The situation escalated to a point where the administrators resorted to removing post count and reg date information from the thread displays.
I don't entirely believe that a person can come onto a forum and not receive a little "newbie treatment" in good fun, but I've seen it taken to the exteme, and it is ugly (forum drama!!).
By the way, I've seen arguments develop that there's a difference between a "newb" and a "n00b", and the argument isn't that bad. The newbie would simply describe a person new to the forums, and isn't representative of posting habits, whereas a n00bie could be a person who has spent any length of time on the boards, may continually spam and really just fits in with "n00b mentality", if you will.
Thats pretty much why post counts were taken away from here, from what I hear. I think we set a good example with our Noobers. As long as they don't break any of the rules they don't get any negative treatment. If they do, they're informed what they did was wrong and we move on.
Oh, I hadn't even noticed that there were no post counts (like I said, I never look for them). It's a good tactic, and now just another reason for me to like this forum (as if I needed one).
im a noob and i like it
Some will forever remain a n00b.
Like say, Unne for example.
The sign of unnoobyness is putting a . in your name and changing your signature, apparently.
I'm not drunk enough to forget last week.Quote:

Ive been here since Dec. 5, 2004. But ive been all over the posts. Eyes on eachother, art and writting, and general gaming being my favorites. So I have to wonder if im still considered a noob?
Yup. Everyone's a noobie. But be happy. I just joined late Nov. you're not alone.
