Addition to the whole SNL accident, now when Ashlee actually tried singing at a football game recently, the whole stadium booed her because she sang off-key.
Apparantly ever since the SNL accident which was cause because, in her words "acid reflux ruins her voice chords" she's been trying to sing live without lip-synching. It hasn't been working out well.
Seems like some people should stick to acting. What's your opinion on Ashlee?
She sucks.

Anyway, I've only heard one song by her, "Pieces of Me"...and...I don't like it. Then again, I never did like these "ooo since my sibling can sing I can too!" acts anyway...cept the Jacksons...they were good.
DMKA - She got caught lip-synching on SNL when they cued up the wrong song. She tried to blame it on her band, but no one bought it.

You know, the other day i was thinking about the whole Ashlee simpson image/product. i think this is a boarderline strategy to make publicity out of humiliation. Let me explain, in her show she's humiliated tons of times, she can't sing, or she gets lost, and so forth. When i see that she can't sing a note, and she can't write a thing, that makes me (being a musician) angry, and makes me wanna go bash her with everyone i can. it is at this point that i fell in the trap, because what i'm doing is giving her publicity. That's what happened with many people i know. But still she wasn't so big, because not everyone saw her show. So they decided to do something "big". The lip-sync incident was probably one of the most talked about issues i've seen, especially in the net, which is something rather rare, there was at least 1 thread in every message board i go to and add to that the creation of a whole website just because of this.

But do people thinking she's untalented sell records?
Apparently, good or bad publicity introduces the "artist" to the masses, which can lead them to look into her/his work, and meaby they'll like it. I've seen many people do it big that way, at least in my country.
I know my theory sounds rather weird, but hey i just though i'll share it.
All I know is that certain record stores (I think it may have been Ameoba), offered a deal where people could come in and trade their Ashlee Simpson cd for "good music". I think the list of good included Led Zeppelin and Modest Mouse and so on. It was awesome.

In all honesty, I could not only care less about Ashlee Simpson, but I could also care less about pop music in general. I'd like to know what the recording industry has been smoking. Here's all this cheesy pop, and out of all of these cheesy pop musicians, you've got one who's not at all talented, but they say, "well, she's related to Jessica Simpson, so why not hook the audience onto her music, too?" And while they clearly show bias towards pop and rap, the RIAA treats one genre of music I really enjoy like; that being Metal. Is this cool? No! Not at all! I feel that Ashlee Simpson rightfully deserved to be booed, because she sucks, and yet, she's still reaping the benefits of the recording industry.
But you see, thats the thing - it's what the people are buying, it's where the cash is at, and that's all that matters to them. Reguardless of how much you may think it sucks, to others, I guess it doesn't. Therefore, they aren't "smoking" anything...they're interested in making money, and that's what they're doing...it's intellegent to do what you're going to make the most money with in the business world, and they're doing it.Quote:

Well, to be honest, I don't like the way she sings either. She'd probably be better off letting her sister make all the cash. That I bet, was embarrassing.
The awesomness of yesterday's football game (National champs, whoo!!) was marred only by that atrocious half-time show. Seriously, on top of the bad singing, Simpson was gyrating like some diseased animal. I don't like her much. =/
Ashlee Simpson is not the only person to use backing tracks and such during "live" performances. I also find the comparison to Milli Vinili (or however it's spelled) to be very annoying. Milli Vinili didn't even record the songs that they lip synched to. They tried to pass it off as though they were. Ashlee, on the other hand, did sing the studio version that she was lip synching to.
That being said, I don't enjoy her music. She probably can't sing live to save her life. She should probably quit while she's ahead.
Yeah, lots of singers do it. She got caught, so now it's time to mock.
I think it sucks that she's a pretty solid failure. Poor girl just wanted to live a dream, but she forgot that you have to not suck at least a little bit.
Everything went down hill after she dyed her hair. Man that's ugly!

I dont feel sorry for anyone who piggy-back's another's fame. She had no talent on her own, she's famous because her sister is famous. Just like Jack and Kelley Osbourne, famous because of their father. Or Hailey Duff, famous because of her sister.
While I may not like all the people piggy-backed, they at least worked hard to get to the top. Their families did not, so I have no sympathy for them.
Ashlee probably could have saved face by owning up rather than blaming her band.

As a person, I won't judge her for this one incident, even if she did blame it on the band. And for reference, her dad, not Ashlee, made the excuse of acid-reflux...not her. She's just a good girl using what her daddy told her.
As for her career, she's still doing well. "La la" has been playing on the radio constantly, as well as Shadows and Pieces of Me.
She's not even that pretty either, she's probably borderline ugly if not for all that makeup and dyed hair. But look at BS, she lip-synched and she's still popular, so I doubt this will hurt her career. I did like Pieces of Me, and I still do. But she probably made enough money to support her for the rest of her life. If not, she can probably bum off Nick Lachey...who bums off Jessica.
I do have some sympathy for her, even if she blamed it on her band. She probably panicked and couldn't get her thoughts straight and just blamed the band. I'm sure she apologized to them...or gave them a hefty amount of keep their mouth shut. But the band doesn't have much of a choice, since bands are a dime a dozen, if they say anything her dad will probably fire them.Quote:

Again, it doesn't take a real music genius to tell that not only were her notes off-key...they were off-base. I don't care if she can't sing octaves, can she even sing a note? One of the most horrible performances ever, too bad ABC panned away from her face after the boos. Not that I would take pleasure in others' misery, but it would have been nice to keep the camera in place.
Lastly, wasn't Gwen Stefani suppose to perform? I guess she feared the same treatment as well. Some reports indicate she had a scheduling conflict(yeah right), but I doubt it. If you have a chance to perform in front of a national audience, I don't see how any artist would turn that down.
Gwen Stefani is horrible live. It's sad. Half of singers these days cannot sing live for the life.
I think the percentage is much greater than that. I would say of all mainstream music, maybe 5% of the artists can actually sing...which is why I like Bonnie McKee and Toby Lightman. I suggest everyone buy their albums, you'll get great lyrics, real singing, and satsifaction.Quote:

The USC Vs. Oklahoma game was not only one of the worst bowl games I've ever seen, but having Ashlee Simpson as part of a halftime show is just beyond me. She was strictly awful.
She was just "live" on Top Of The Pops. That was a damn long/dull song. Pop music with guitars, she's basically America's answer to Busted from what I can see.
As a side note, Green Day did Boulevard Of Broken Dreams on that show, and Billie looked stoned out of his mind. Great stuff.
Ashlee doesn't deserve all that money and the fancy clothes that she has. She blamed the musicians working with her (God help those poor men) for the whole Saturday Night Live incident and it wasn't their fault. She's too stuck-up and selfish to admit that she has no talent whatsoever and that she is nothing but a puppet of L.A. fatcats. I think she should give up before someone comes to assassinate her and that the musicians deserve that luxury lifestyle of hers. They're the ones who are working hard and are actually talented.

Green Day is awesome. I was watching them on Fuse live (AOL concert thing or whatever. I hate AOL. Green Day was one of the first good bands they've done like that) and Billie did look pretty stoned.
She was live on CD:UK this morning too, having a chat about some videos they show to guests. Yep, that's one more little pop star that no one will care about soon enough.
There's probably an acoustic of BoBD somewhere on Kazaa already I expect. And yeah, Billie especially tends to look wasted, and Tre is a right laugh to watch.
