XG better than FF?

I've heard from several people than Xenogears is the best Square RPG ever made. How many people here think that's true?

I think that those people are talking absolute trash. I mean, FFX-2 was obviously the best FF ever. It's the latest one, right? That means it has the most tweaked out battle system, the coolest characters (Paine could so marry me if she wanted), and the dress system is hot. I mean, be a sexy dark knight and kick butt? Whatever, NEWBIE. N00b! Anyway I think Xenogears doesn't have nearly as complex the love triangles as Final Fantasy games do, therefore FF is better.

I think FFVI is the best Square RPG, but Xenogears is still quality.

Xenogears is the biz, though I don't know if it will become higher in my list of "uber leet RPGs" just yet though. Still stuck playing KOTOR 2 atm.

I really liked Final Fantasy VI but I still believe Xenogears to be far superior in storyline to not just any Square-Enix game but ANY game, RPG or otherwise, that I've ever played.

Out of all honestly, XGs is totally fricken sweet. But not nearly as good as Phantasy Star, imho.

Me living in the UK have not yet played any of the Xeno series. Best RPG is FF7 and nothing can beat it. Alundra is to me second best then the rest of the FFs

I honestly can't answer this question, as I haven't been able to play Xenogears because I CAN'T FIND A FREAKIN COPY. And I don't have a credit card, so I can't order one.

I'm getting a copy of this game for my birthday. Finally, I no longer have ot play this emulated.

I played a little tiny itty bit of Xenogears. It didn't do it for me at the time, so I didn't continue.

I don't understand why it's so cool to diss Final Fantasy, especially around here. xD

Because that's the only RPG series half the newcomes have played and are only familiar with the last four, if that.

Their view on anything else? Pffft, it's not Final Fantasy.

The people who make Final Fantasy refuse to innovate. That is why the series will ultimately fail, perhaps soon.

There are much better game series that have the magic that FF used to have back when it was still fresh.

FFXII is immensely innovative within the scope of the series.

It has potential. We'll see when it comes out, I suppose.

So I've heard, but I've also heard that FF12's release has been delayed indefinitely.

Meanwhile, I'll be busy playing XS Episode II, which will be in my hands no later than this Friday. And I've heard the battle system in this one is also radically different from its predecessor.

That's not my idea of a "definite" release date, if that's what you're trying to show me.

It's a world of difference away from "delayed indefinitely."

It's not at all uncommon these days for even high-profile games to not have a definite release date until about a month before that date, either.

The only FFs to remain cool now are 1,6,7, 8 and Tactics.

Xenogears -- i only played little of it :mad: and i'm not as crazy like my brother is about it :eek: :p . it may be one of Square's greatest hits :) , but Final Fantasy is Square's GOLD :cool: .

It's hard for me to say that Xenogears is better than Final Fantasy because I have grown up with Final Fantasy. In fact, I don't know what I would be like today if it wasn't for Final Fantasy. It's hard for me to say that XG is better than FF because I just played xenogears for the first time a while ago. I loved it, and I think it just might have had the most amazing story I have ever experianced in a game, but I am not sure I am ready to bring myself to say "XG is better than FF."

there are billions of FF fans across the world compared to that of Xenogears :cool: . i don't have all the answers to why FF is perhaps the longest living RPG legend :up: , but i think one of them is 'cuz it always does a better job when it comes to giving fans what they want :confused: :cool: .

Again, "the unwashed masses like it!" isn't the best arguement. They like Ashlee Simpson, too.

They keep making wussy womanlike Heroes like Tidus and Vaan, while we have cool heroes like Fei, Bart, Citan, and Rico. FF's storylines have been dying alot after FF8.

That's not the best argument, either. Xenogears certainly has its share of girly men.

Billy, Ramsus, Vance, Sigurd with his bare midriff, the Kislev NPC guys dressed in futuristic bondage gear... Then you have to consider all the time Fei spends naked throughout the game.

Just the name "Fei" is girly.

Comparing Final Fantasy to Beethoven would only be a valid analogy if all of his symphonies were exactly the same, except for a few note changes.

And if Beethoven performed them in a bikini.

uhh im gonna have to say final fantasy myself on this one..and how dare you say that final fantasy has lost its luster i remember when i used to play rpg's and didnt care about the plot (umm what a mistake) and now that i look back at it i am amazed at how the ff plots are so similar yet so completely diffrent...final fantasy is good...very good...and of course yea maybe final fantasy may die..i mean even all good things must end right (or in this case AMAZING things) but the legacy of its past greatness will not be forgotten that im certain :cool:

Urgh... sorry... but I really don't like it when people think stuff is good just because the majority do so. There's a lot of great games with almost no fans while there's alot of pretty crappy games with way too many fans etc. :rolleyes2
Oh, and there's many FF fans that are very dissapointed with the later FFs... like me for example. FFX2!? FFXI as an online game!? What the **** is square thinking? :(

Well... FF WAS the greatest... back then, before everything went wrong...

Oh, well... I've never played the Xeno serie since I live in europe... and ofcourse we have to miss all the good stuff.
But I'll get a remode card as soon as possible and then I'll order the Xeno games from the states. Geez... I've not played a good RPG in AGES!!!

Still... so far I have to say that FF is the best... because of the supreme games in the serie, like FFVI etc.

If anything, Sega makes much better RPGs then Square, in my opinion. I mean they make gems like Phantasy Star and Shining Force.,

survival of the fittest: video-games work almost like movies :cool: . great movies spawn more sequels (like those crazy Harry Potter ones and Star Wars). sorry, but the majority of fans obviously favor Final Fantasy more :cool: .

Anyway, Xenogears is a whole lot better than every Final Fantasy game, except for FFVI and maybe IV. Probably just on par with VI. Not so good at ranking things on my own. :-x

Yeah. VI and IX were good. FF Tactics is the only other Square RPG superior to Xenogears. As square focuses more on turning out blasphemous trash like X2, this is only reinforced in my brain. "My fist is the Divine breath" Beat that Sephy.
