Why do we eat so much? There are two big reasons: building blocks and fuel.

For example, a single peanut M&M contains 12 calories. A big snack-size bag of M&Ms has 500 calories in it. Most kids need less than 1,500 calories per day - one bag of M&Ms is one- third of all the calories you need.
This cornucopia of calories is why obesity has become a problem in America. Unless a person is careful, it is really easy to take in too much fuel. Our bodies store all the excess fuel as fat.

I mean, take a large can of beans and a chocolate bar. The chocolate bar has around 370 kcals shall we say, and weighs 70g. The can of beans contains the same amount of calories, but weighs in at around 420g (excluding can) and will fill you up for (probably) considerably longer than the bar. It's so easy to pwn the daily calorie intake limit, and if you semi-consciously go about not to, you get deemed titles such as "health freak" and "flamenco dancer" (moreso the first).

Carbs do not make you fat, they are just highly addictive and you should eat them sparingly..

Infact because the average human being is more of a monkey then anything. (Even as far as brains go..) i think they should re-name "fat" IE: your beer belly or his manboobs into "leptin". Both mean the same thing but this way "fat" gets asscosiated with the calorie type and "leptin" gets asscosiated with the health risk..
And to think, I use to be both an obease person AND an annerexic.. now I'm just a smurfed up health-fanatic who realizes we need to be liberated not from terrorism or some bullcrap like that but from our own evil nature..
