It just occured to me that a large majority of the sprites in the classic FFs actually dont bother to keep their eyes on the prize (i.e. the monsters). they sorta peep at you through the screen. More often than not they're the mages classes. That might account for the fact that they get hit more often, mainly because they're not paying attention.
Interesting theory.
That makes a lot of sense.
It's just an optical illusion, created by the mage characters'... mage-eyness.
Could be, or maybe back in the day of classic FFs, Square was short on cash, so they asked the US government for help. Those mages are really watching every move you make. *Boards up house and eats nothing but Ramen Noodles for three months*
It's not really most of the characters, it's really only Black Mage and White Mage.

Why is it that all those sprites that don'e have eyebrows have crooked eyes?
I was wondering why the Summoner has a stick poking out of his head.
It symbolizes the great human-beast relations that Phantasmists/Summoners carry on. The Illusionists/Conjurers have one coming out the back of their heads, as well.

This would be an interesting point, but maybe it's because the way the "camera" views the center of the screen and not directly on them, that you see more of their face. Kinda like reality...?
If that was the case then it means meelers are looking slightly off to the right. Plus the formation of monsters would be in a strange kinda diagonal shape of sorts.Quote:

They are thinking "Heh look at the guy" while they sit on their lazy butt and let the warriors do all the work. How do these all mage partys make it?
I noticed that also young Rydia's sprite from FF4 looks towards the player. In that case, though, it's more like she's saying "I don't know what to do! And netiher this dark knight man does! Maybe YOU can help me!"
