Prove that you're worth a damn
SO. AWESOME.
Just came back from the theater, and I'm still whirling from what I just saw. All I can say is that this film is explosive.
And yeesh, it certainly earned it's R rating.
Loved the cheesy dialogue, loved the crazy cool characters, loved how perfectly every frame was composed, and shot.
And Miho, holy fem fatale batman, she was insane. I thought that Marv had the most engaging story, and I invested in him more than anyone else. I loved the raw, primal and fierce storyline of Gail and Dwight and the sick twisted one of Kevin and Yellow Bastard. I really can't find a weak link in ANY of the characters. Even the ones with incredibly small screentime were fan-friggen-tastic (The guy with the swastika on his head sent me into a giggling fit).
I had to look away a few times cause some of the violence was just too much (particularly at the very end when Hartigan takes away Yellow Bastard's..."weapon"). But other times the violence was just so hysterical in it's extremity (ie: when Marv goes on his rampage).
Loved it, can't stop thinking about it, never seen anything like it.
One complaint I might have is the the editing could've been a bit tighter. I noticed people fidgeting toward the end when things began to slow down rather than pick up (although the film sorta steamrolls it's way through the story so that even at the end, things aren't exactly "slow").
The movie is relentless. I wouldn't advise anyone shy of violence and sex to watch this movie. There's also a LOT of laughs in this movie, more than you'd think.
If you go into this wanting something realistic, you're in for a helluva let down. It's campy, it's fun, it's over-the-top.
The actors are relishing it, and the audience should too.
It's one wild ride, that's for sure.
