I was wondering: what do you think is the worst kind of crime? As in: adultury, murder, terrorism, child molestation, etc. I made this topic because I noticed that the news was talking about sex offenders, and the news lady said that everyone in america believes that this is the worst crime imaginable. But, I don't think it is.
Child molestation.
While I think sexual assault is disgusting, I can't think of a crime more selfish than murder.
I disagree... murder can usually have some kind of "rational" of sorts, I can think of things I'd be willing to kill for. Sexual assault/child molestation is the WORST kind of selfish, there is only one motive for that... so, sexual assault (especially on children) is the worst form of crime.Quote:

I certainly wouldn't question that, I can too - but I think it's selfish because it shows a lack of restraint and control, as by a relitively simple action you are 'turning off' someone's life. Conversely, I honestly don't think I could really look down upon someone for say, murdering the murderer of their mother, but it's the murders over things like disagreement's in pubs and just over arguments that really bother me no end. Maybe's it's just the blind aggression I'm not fond of?Quote:

Rape in my mind is the worst, so yes I guess I do feel sexual offenders are the worst.
Why? It doesn't only damage the body, but it can severly harm one's soul(or mind if you prefer that). You are messing not only in this realm but in the realm beyond, in the parts of us we don't understand.
Breaking someone's spirit, in my opinion, is far worse then breaking one's body.

Therefore murder is the worst crime I can imagine.
Atleast you have your life after a sexual offense.
And the word rape has such a bad ring to it.
Couldn't we just call it 'surprise sex'?

Any crime that is commited and the guilty party did it of their own free will knowing full well what it would do to others. Crimes of passion, or crimes commited due to a mental illness are somewhat forgivable (im not saying totally ok, but its easier to see why the person did it) Nothing is worse that someone who commits a crime with no reason.
Genocide is by far the worst crime, in my opinion at least.
The deliberate annihilation of a particular culture/ethnicity/religion, either by killing its members or by dispossessing them and expelling them from their homes.
So many have died in horrific atrocities. The Second World War was supposed to be the last time it'd ever happen... but of course we all know how deep human depravity can go. Some things take a very long time to change, and our society is already forgetting the lessons learned from the 1930s and 40s.
Forget castration, I still think rapists should be used for medical experimentations. It may sound sick, but the Nazi Concentration Camps advanced medical science by many decades. In the long run, the scientific advancements achieved saved more lives than were lost during all of WW2.
So, imagine superior facilities, more talented doctors, much, MUCH better conditions, and the near unlimitted financial resources that come from a modern industrial nation. At least in comparison to a nation that was fighting a war in nearly every direction. We could double our medical sciences and advancements without even trying all that hard.
If we limit ourselves only to rapists and child molesters, we won't have the kinds of numbers that existed for Nazis... but we'd make considerably better usage of them. Then again, I also think we should harvest the organs of death-row inmates.

Good Idea... I think that may be hard to pass through legislation though... I am certian that would fall under "cruel and unnusual"... At least with casturation it can easily be explained(at least if people work anything like dogs do.. Many male dogs when casturated lose quite a few of their violent tendecies, of course some do get more violent.. so that would scratch this idea out, I guess).Quote:

How big of a scale are we talking about? I'd say rape/molestation is worse than murder, but that terrorism is much worse than either.
It's a good thing "sending people off to die in a war" isn't illegal, because if it had never been done, the one person/regime that wanted war would end up controlling the world. If it weren't for America's intervention in WWII, most of Europe would probably be speaking German now. (By the way, no American leader has sent soldiers to war with the intent of them dying. It's war.)

True, but it's only a matter of opinion who "starts" the war, and who simply defends themselves. If America up and attacked a part of Canada, Canada would have a right to defend itself, correct? So there would be two ways of looking at it--either you support the Canadians, and say "Well they were attacked, they should defend themselves", or you blindly support the Americans, and say something like "well that land was rightly theirs to begin with", or "it's just a counter-attack for years of oppression", or something equally ignorant. As is happening with the current War on Terrorism. But, hey, that's off topic.
Genocide would be the worst crime, but on a more common scale, I'd have to go with rape, or more specifically, child molestation.
