Since I can't class Jade Empire with KOTOR or Baldur's Gate. They certainly make some of the best RPGs for us mature-esque folks.
KOTOR is an incredible game, when i finally finish my degree im gonna buy the sequel and play it non-stop. that, coupled with a finalfantasyathon will mean that im gonna be living on crisps and snickers bars for about a month.Quote:

WoW, given it's the other big online game at the moment - and onling gaming is where SE gets a crapload of cash.
Knock off the spamming plzkthx.
I'd say Final Fantasy's biggest competition is dependant on which particular games you're talking about. Final Fantasy has been around for a LONG time, so during different periods of it's existence, different kinds of games have proved to be major competition.
That's a smart way of saying I have no idea. ;)
In Japan, before Square Enix merger, it was the Dragon Warrior series.
Now, I'd have to say Nintendo's ever growing RPG market. With games like Tales of Symphonia, the Link series, and some other RPGs, I'd say Squarenix had best make a game that has both a GREAT storyline and GREAT gameplay soon, less they see their dwindling market collapse altogether.
Tetris.
