Okay, since when is spam EVERYTHING where immature people have fun? I mean c'mon, I really wanted to have a serious conversation about hippos. Also, what's with closing threads that turn into spam (usually due to one person). Can't you people remember back to school when a bunch of dipwits in the back of the class would act up and throw a paper ball at the teacher and that teacher would give everyone extra homework? It's like that. It makes me really really angry. Not at the doofus students, but at the teacher.

When the entire class is angry, we all laugh at the chalk stains you get from scratching your private areas when you turned around to write down that advanced algorithm on the board.

Most borderline threads get closed, if you didn't notice. I will venture to say that the staff is on edge because a lot of people are being douche bags towards them, and when that happens a larger percent of borderline threads get closed.

Face it, when you feel like people are being just plain unfair and mean to you, it affects your job performance. I thought that thread was fine, but I can't really blame Leeza for closing it.

The best way to get everything back to normal is to stop bitching about every closed thread and EoEO ban. Otherwise, it's just a continuous cycle.

I mean c'mon, if that's what you really wanted, you would have made the thread in EoEO where every thread is treated seriously...even ones discussing hippos. Posting it in GC was asking for it to be spammed up and we've had more than enough of that in there lately.

Umm... isn't the "extra homework" the fault of those very "doofs" in the back of the class, and not the "teacher's"?

The "doofs" knew the rules, and they shouldn't have broken them, hence, punishment. And of course you'd be mad at the "teacher". They're the easiest person to blame because they have the ability to exact their authority on you. But in the end, blame the doofs dammit!

At least, that's the way I see it. :D

What are the teachers suppose to do? Let everyone run rampant and do whatever they want?

A cool teacher will let the goofs have their fun every once and a while, but when it happens every day he/she is going to lay the smackdown. GC has been constantly like this and so we have to adopt a stricter policy until people learn to pace themselves.

I'm pretty sure I understand what Shlup was saying, but obviously the relationship between Cid's Knight's and the forum goers isn't a teacher-student one. I was just taking a bad metaphor to places it never should have gone. I only meant that they have a level of authority over the members, and it's there job to make sure that people don't get TOO out of hand.

But in the case of the example, the teacher should punish the doofs in the back, not the entire class.

Granted, but the only way something along those lines could be done here, is if the spammers were somehow stopped from posting the the thread that they spammed in. And the only way that can be done is if the entire thread is closed.

yes but white castle has like 30 little burgers for $10, del taco has 15 tacos for $5. So they are roughly equivalent if you are stoned/drunk and want a lot of crappy food.

Is White Castle any good? There was one in my city when I was younger, but it closed down and I can't recall what the food tasted like.
