What is your favourite guitar solo that you've ever heard. The one that you see as the best of the lot.
Mine are the two solos by Randy Rhoads on the song 'Mr.Crowley' by Ozzy Osbourne.
Those two solos are just pure perfection!
& I can play them! :p

The Four Horsemen solos are great as well from Kill 'em All!

Robert Fripp's guitar solo in Brian Eno's 'St. Elmo's Fire'.
I concur. Mike is underatted IMO. Definately should be considered one of the greats.Quote:

My vote?
Billy Corgan on The Smashing Pumpkins songs "Starla" & "Speed Kills (But Beauty Lives Forever"
I'm glad nobody has mentioned "November Rain" yet.
the best guitar solos are always done by the legend that is Brian May

My vote goes to Kissing the Shadows by Children of Bodom. That's an incredible one.
After that, anything by Joe Satriani, Yngwie Malmsteen or Dream Theater will do. :p
Gary Moore - Parisienne Walkways
Brilliance, right there. Some bass stuff by Stevie Ray Vaughan is good, too, and I'm not sure if Liquid Tension Experiment's Hourglass is a solo, but if it is, that may just beat Gary Moore's song listed above.
my personal favorite is angus young's solo from doningthon'91. but michael angelo's speed skills is just amazing....and the solos in g3 performed by satriani, malmsteen and vai
oh....and of course eddie van halen's eruption
Guitar solos are okay. I can't stand it when bands throw them in there just because. Anyway, the only solos I have really liked were stuff from Pink Floyd. There were other bands that I thought had pretty cool solos, but none come to mind right now.
The two that came to mind instantly were Pink Floyd ~ Comfortably Numb and Eagles ~ Hotel California. A lot of classic rock has amazing solos though.
:) :) this might sound a bit soft but on of my favourite solo is estranged by guns n roses.
I actually <3 the one in 'The Final Countdown' by Europe.
It rawks!
Ok here it goes:
november rain is great, yes slash makes that guitar cry like a baby. I also love the sweet child 'o' mine solo, that ones great too. Every solo by Kirk is really good even though I'm not the biggest fan of the actual band metallica. Also i'm not a big fan of Van Halen but man Eddy can friggin rip on the guitar. Slash was the reason I learned how to play guitar. Now my band is extremely successful thanx to that.
Free Bird - Lynyrd Skynyrd.
It's long, it's totally unnecessary, but it's genius.

If someone is thrust in your face, does it make it paticuarly good?
Mason Williams - Classical Gas (Acoustic Solo)
What Do You Do For Money Honey~AC/DC
Hot for Teacher~Van Halen
No No No~Def Leppard
Since I've Been Loving You~Led Zepplin
i'm glad somebody mentioned satriani....i was going to lose it
pretty much any good classic rock song. Floyd, Zep, Eagles and many more.
hell yeah dudeQuote:

Take care all.
the Jimmy Page solo in Stairway to heaven (led zepellin)
and the David Gilmour solo in Comfortably Numb (pink floyd)
everything that has been mentioned is really good. I guess you'd have to look at it as what type of solo it is. Is it a nice slow lick or is all out chaos. That makes a big difference.
everytime i hear this solo i just wanna pick up a guitar and act like i can play it.Quote:
