9999 HP

Ok i dont know if people on here have discused this already on here but, i would like to know is it possible to get 9999 HP on this game i got all my characters level 99 and they didnt even get close to getting Full HP which i think Sucks a lot. Most Hp i got was 7456 with steiner, and zidane closely behind with 7245, and all the rest of them was low :( i mean what the hell like this is one thing i hate about this game, it makes me think whats the point on leveling up on it to gain like 20 Hp per level sometimes :mad2: ..... so yeah im dragging this on lol so can anyone tell me is it possible to do this ? many thanks :D

Yes, in fact it's quite easy. It's possible to do 9999 damage at level 1 with the right abilities. (Thievery, Frog Drop, Dragon's Crest, etc.)

is it well i would like to know how u did it then ? get full Hp? and damage wise yea i know u can do that.

OH You mean 9999 HP for your characters, sorry I read it wrong. I think some members of your party are entirely capable of it with the proper abilities equipped such as HP + #% But I don't think you can achieve 9999 HP for everyone in the party.

well i dont know ive done the game loads of times and still didnt gain full Hp with any of them. and the strange thing is the HP is random i find beacuse i got level 99 on one of my files and had 7256 or something then next time i did it it had less so i think the HP system on this game is screwed up and is very annoying....

The HP gain at a level-up is always slightly random.

Does it really matter that much? Would your life be happier if you had 9999HP in FFIX? :p

No, seriously... I just can't see any reason why it would be necessary to have 9999HP in FFIX. :greenie:

Sure, of course it may be cool to have 9999HP... but is the fact that you couldn't get 9999 really worth "hating"? :-/

well not really like u know but after hard work of getting up lots of levels it would be gd to have gained something u know and by having full HP would do that. I mean FF7 and FF8 u could easily gain the full HP but on this game no u cant which is gutting as hell in my opinion.

well i guess when you think about it some three foot tall nyph in a blue bath robe shouldn't have as much health as a big mo'fo with a huge sword and plate armor and such.....mages and summoners have always had lower health than knights and dragoons and theives have always been in the middle, it just adds diversity to the characters and classes....besides it'd be too easy if all your characters had that much health

I find, that any FF being easy because of overly high stats is usually a reward of taking the time to get those stats.

Amarant can get 9999 Hp. You'll need to keep him at Lv.1 until Disk 4 and a good understanding of FFIX's stat grwoth formulae though...

The highest possible strength for Amarant at Lv.99 is 84 (assuming you start levelling him from Lv.1 with the best equipment.)

Hp for a Lv.99 character = [(Strength * Hp Mod) / 50]

= [(84 * 4524) / 50]

= 7600

7600 + 10% + 20% (from the Hp+10% & Hp+20% abilities)

7600 * 1.1 = 8360.

8360 * 1.2 = 10032, capped at 9999.

I've always wondered where people get this kind of info. :greenie:

I got it from Terence, a GameFAQs user who hacks games to get raw data. His coverage of FFVII game mechanics is unreal. The only thing I've seen him do with FFIX was get the stat formulae from hacking, and he also did a test where the ExII became available again after 12 hours had passed by letting the timer run for two and half years (under test conditions of course, on an emulator with the FPS jacked waaaay up).

I know a lot about battle mechanics in FFIX just from doing my own tests, but any percentage based attacks and such (Stop, Thievery, Odin, etc...), I haven't found a way to test those properly. Physical attacks and magical attacks though, I know how damage is calculated for those.

Well, I think that at my levels (50s) I have about 5000 to 6000 HP and based on you're game mechanics, it might be because I have very high STR. I always equip my characters with the thing that adds the most STR, Zidane at lvl 52 I think, has 81 STR if I remember correctly. So yeah, game mechanics apply and you can surely get 9999 in FFIX but you need to understand the game well enough to know how.

4542 is the Lv.99 Hp mod. Each level has their own Hp / Mp mods. If you want to try them out, from level 50 to 60 they are...

50: 4266 582
51: 4294 584
52: 4317 586
53: 4334 587
54: 4344 588
55: 4353 589
56: 4361 590
57: 4368 591
58: 4374 592
59: 4379 593
60: 4383 594

The left are Hp Mods, the right are Mp Mods.

I've already posted the Hp formula here, the Mp formula is...

[(Magic * Mp Mod) / 100]

If you decide to try these out you should un-equip the character you're checking.

There's no way your Zidane could have 80+ Strength at those levels without the use of a cheat device.

I don't use a cheat device hehe. I have Ultima Weapon, I always use Dark Matter as an accessory, I have the Green Beret on, I have other equipment that ups my STR. Everything I have on my Zidane is STR+ and I don't use any cheat things. Against Ozma, he dealt 9999 easily a few times in a row before Ozma died, the fool and really suck foe he is. But I clearly remember he has 81 STR.

SoftReset, can you post Eidolon's damage formula if you have it? Please o.o

Well, about 81 Strength in the 50's, it just doesn't happen no matter how much strength boosting equipment you use.

Eidolon damage:

Base = Eidolon Attack Power - the Target's Magic Defense.

Bonus = Mag ...Mag + [(Mag + Lv) / 8]

Damage = Base * Bonus for full animation

Damage = [((Base * Bonus) / 3) * 2] for half animation.

So... let's say your Ifrit has 52 attack power (42 natural + 10 from having 10 Topaz in inventory). The target has 10 magic defense, so the Base is 42.

Now let's say Dagger is at Lv.20 with 25 magic.

25 ...25 + [(25 + 20) / 8]

= 25 ...30, so the Bonus will be 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, or 30, chosen at random.

Base * Bonus = 1050, 1092, 1134, 1176, 1218, or 1260 damage with full animation, and 700, 728, 756, 784, 812, or 840 with half animation.

^ That's without taking elemental properties into consideration though. If the target was weak to fire the Bonus would get a 50% increase.

1- How do you know that Ifrit's attacking power is 42? Is this pre-defined? If yes, what are they?

2- What did you mean by "Mag ...Mag"?

3- And, does the support ability "Concentrate" affect Eidolons?

1. Yes, each Eidolon has a pre-defined attack power which can be boosted by having their corresponding Jewels in inventory. The attack powers of each are:

Atomos: 30 + Amethyst
Ramuh: 32 + Peridot
Shiva: 36 + Opal
Phoenix: 40
Ifrit: 42 + Topaz
Fenrir: 42 + Sapphire
‡Fenrir: 44 + Sapphire
Leviathan: 59 + Aquamarine
Madeen: 71 + Eiko's level
Bahamut: 88 + Garnet
Ark: 106 + Lapis Lazuli
Odin: 145 - Ore

‡ Only when Maiden Prayer is equipped

So, using Ifrit again, his Base attack power is 42. His max attack power is 141, which would require 99 Topaz. You don't have to do anything with the Topaz, they just have to be in the item menu.

2. I mean "any number from x to y"

If x = 22 and y = 25, then x ...y is 22, 23, 24, or 25, chosen at random.

3. Concentrate only affects curative magics. It will affect how much Hp a party member is restored with from a Phoenix summon, but not how much damage the enemy would take from Phoenix's fire element attack.

Uh no, obtaining natural maximum statistics in FFVIII is by far one of the most boring and time consuming methods in any FF.

Just FFIX, and not really. Percentage based attacks like Stop and Break, and also things like stealing, I can't even begin to figure out how those work. With attacks you can see everything that's happening so it's just a matter of working backwards from the damage you see. It's basic math, not hard if you have the patience to watch a character attack the same targets for hours at a time :/

I got everything from good old-fashioned testing. My understanding is that the Ultimania guides are printed only in japanese and are next to impossible to get in North America anyway. I could be wrong though.

Everything has a formula, even things like Regen and Life. I haven't figured Regen out though, I know it's 1/16th Max Hp per Regen hit but I can't figure out what determines how many hits a character is entitled to. I know Spirit is the main factor, but not how it works within a formula.

How do you know them? o.o And... Are they in a site or something like that? XD That would be so cool XD

I worked them out myself.

I haven't found any sites with damage formulae. A few sites have the stat formulae, most FAQs have the Thievery, Dragon's Crest, and Frog Drop formulae, but not much else. That's why I started testing things myself, I though it was wierd that FFVII had been covered so well but a game as simple (it is pretty simple mechanics-wise) as FFIX hadn't been covered at all.

There will probably be a mechanics FAQ at GameFAQs in the not-too-distant future, since there's a guy there who's been doing what I do for a few years now. He knows a ton more than me but I don't know if or when he'll be making an FAQ about it, but he probably will at some point.

So, you are one of the only ones among the bilions int he world that knows those formulas. That's cool XDDDD

Well, back to the subject o.o

Why does Reis's Wind "Regen" status works a lot worse than Auto-Regen or the White Magic "Regen"? I mean, Reis's Wind's Regen heals about 60 HP, and Auto-Regen in the later 300s >_<

They all give 1/16th Max Hp periodically, so technically they should all be giving the same amount of Hp per hit.
