It really doesn't matter to me as long as the game is good.

I agree with the two posts above me.
medieval times - YAY! that way i don't always have to be human. such examples would be Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles and Final Fantasy XI and previous games.
>>> i like both.
i like them both but i'd prefered the next one to be medieval, :P but, as long as it rocks then there's no prob!
I like the old timey- fun timey kinda games. FFVIII's Esthar was too much future for me.

Actually, ALL final fantasies are set in the future... Even Final Fantasy1 had Machina in it...it's just that the fiends destroyed the civilization...so am I right in this?
In the context of this question, "futuristic" and "medieval" are relative terms. For example, FFVIII, which includes space travel, advanced robotics, and the like, is clearly futuristic. On the other hand, a game like FFT, with its feudal political set-up, castles, and knights, is unquestionably medieval. This is true in spite of the presence of evidence of some technology (like Worker 8).Quote:

FF is better with a healthy mix of Medieval and Futuristic setting.
Pure Futurism would rock, but it could be done really badly…
*coughSpiritsWithincough*
Both are good to me
I much prefer futuristic over medeival.
I like both but I tend to be more attracted to medievil type settings.
I prefer the Medieval time over the Futurism. I dunno, it just takes me to a world of fantasy and stuff. Where all kinds of species exist and live with each other. Oh yeah, castles are awesome! :love:
What is this 'Final Fantasy' that everyone is talking about?:Oo:
Medieval, though there hasn't been one of those in a LONG time. FFIX was clearly rennaisance, as was FFTA. I suppose you could call FFXI medieval, but the presence of airships and guns just kinda makes that dubious. FFI did have its robots, it's true. Warmech being the most obvious example. FFVI had "magitek", which they clearly stated was magic infused machinery. It's really difficult to call ANY FF game medieval since that refers to the period in Europe between the dark ages (which were the period after the collapse of Rome) and the enlightenment.
Dont you mean rebirth? I think its worth mentioning FFIX seemed like the English rennaisance. I mean when most people say rennaisance they think of Italy and thats not IX.Quote:

:D
I also don't care as long as it's good, I only hated FFVIII, but now I love that anyway, so... medevil. I'm leaning more towards that.
I usually love medevil more. But FFVIII is my favorite video game so... xP
A Combination. The original FF had the likes of robots and flying castles and...no, that's about it. But still, a bit of everything ay?
Both :D
Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles is the pinnacle of godliness.
i like the healthy mixture of both, where you get to travel to futuristic places like the shinRa building and the mako generators in ff7, but there were also the basic oldstyle places like the slums and the ancient city ..
or in ff8 where thers the esthar city was unbearably futurisic, but then there was the winhill village which reminded me a hell of a lot of modern day in a quiet village much like where i live. i like that place so much, i really wish there had been more done with it!

Of course, it's not a dealbreaker or anything.
Final Fantasy IX and Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles are how I wish all FF's were. ^_^ So yeah medievil-ish I guess. Futuristic = noooo ;_;
Futuristic/modern
