Crap and Rap are only a letter away

This forum needs more anti-rap rants. :)

Seriously. It's the worst form of music, if you can even call it that. Rappers are nothing more than poets, and sometimes they're not even good at that, because some don't even write their own raps and most just write crap like "Oooh, I wants to spread dat girrrrl like jelly, ooooh mofo I chill with Nelly." (That's not an actual rap line, I just thought that up, but seriously, that's what exactly what they write.)

The music to the rap is awful. The only rap artist who I can stand is Eminem, some of his raps aren't so bad as he actual talks about REAL things and not some girls' ass. Plus, the music to his songs aren't that bad. It's pathetic really, when you look at extremely popular songs like Drop It Like It's Hot by Snoop Dogg. What is the music. Tongue clicking and a computer made beat by some guy who probably gets no credit for it. And that's the crap that kids eat up, by the spoonful.

If the rap is not full of talk about being pistol whipped (Mmmmm, pistol whip...) and his 20 bitches and ho's, then it's highly religious garbage than makes me want to fall down a well. Religious rappers make me cry.

"Ooooh, who's in da house? JCs in da house! Jesus Christ is in da HOUSE! Word to your Mary!" (THAT is an actual rap song I was subjected to listen to. Except for the "Word to your Mary" part.)

Then you get shmucks like 50 Cent who are just arrogant jerks and are loved for it. Or people like Little John who got famous for carrying around a golden "crunk" cup and growling only "YEAH? WHAT?!? YEEEEAH?! AAAAALRIIIIGHT!" in random songs like Scooby Doo.

Let's list other reasons why rap sucks so bad. :)

I think it takes a great deal of skill to be a rapper, moreso than singing. Have you ever heard someone freestyle? It's amazing.

I don't like most of the rap that hits the airwaves, but I do like eminem and some old stuff.

I don't hate punk music because of losers like Good Charlotte and Simple Plan, or the recent trend of only whiney bitch songs getting any play. Why should it be any different for rap?

That's where I get the poetry part from. I think singing is harder, but it is pretty hard to come up with good stuff really fast, it's like fast paced poetry and I can respect people who can do that. I'm talking more about mainstream rap, the type you hear on the radio.

it's become so commercialized that you can say some rap can be clasified under hip pop (get it? pop? hop? yeaaah!), but it also happens in other genres.

i really don't think rap is bad as a music genre, but the style of what currently is pop rap is bad. it's definitely not the worst genre out there.
trust me, because i have waded knee deep through noise, and noise is an actual genre, which i think some people would really dislike but it became an experiment in ambience to me. digressing, tho, you're entitled to your opinion, and i am to mine.

Yeah, there's a big issue of broad, sweeping generalization in the premise of this thread. I'll admit, the deepest I've gone into underground rappers is MC Chris, and MC does talk about those things on occasion, but his nerdcore homages make up for it in almost all of his songs. If you want to target specific rappers, go ahead, but don't go straight to one genre. It'd be like saying that I hate all rock and roll because I think Evanescance sucks.

Yeah ok whatever. Rappers being poets is good, the one thing is that they're bad poets. They don't do poetry that is meaningful or that has any type of emotion. They make gun and fun rhyme and call it gangsta. I'm sorry but poetry is not about that . What happened to real rap? In Tupac's time it was street poetry, the real thing, all it is now is an easy way to make money, case and point: Chingy, Nelly and all those other idiots. I'm sorry but Balla Baby isn't poetry, neither is saying Hurr instead of here. It's just plain redneck slang. Rap is worthless, it has nothing musical in it and shouldn't be listened to by anyone. Unfortunately, that is the trend right now, so everyone listens to it and until it won't be a trend anymore, only a few people will listen to it. We gotta live with rap as we have to live with Simple Plan and The Cure and all those other bands that sound the same and that talk about how their life sucked 15 YEARS AGO! As stupid as you might think Evanescence is, you are totally wrong. Emotion is the key in Evanescence, Amy Lee is an incredible musician, the music actually means something. Nirvana is good also, the Tea Party aren't bad. They're all bands that knew the meaning of music. Get to know the meaning too you guys.

If you don't like hip hop, don't effing in listen to it. You don't need to go on some preteen rant about it in a thread. I don't like a lot of non-life affecting things but unless someone mentions it I don't start a thread about it. Real hip hop is arguably the rawest & most honest expression you are ever likely to hear in a musical genre. If you can't get your head around the chart aimed pop aspect or just can't get over the fact it isn't talentless-but-catchy-feel-good pop sh*t, I reiterate, Don't listen to it. Tnhere are times when you should voice your distaste in things, important things, but there are times when you can & should just move on.

I think Country is the worst personally...for my own personal reasons that I won't state here (because it will probably offend a few people) I listen to almost no rap really, however, I like what Rap is...I think it's interesting...no wait, I think it's brilliant.

Of course, the bulk of rap is sad (stuff like Nelly, Jay Z, 50 Cent, ect.)...just like the bulk of pop, and rock, and well...everything else signed by major record labels currently. Not to say it's all crap (I hate when people say any music now is crap when they haven't even listened to it)...but I dunno.

I fail to see the point in being "anti" a music genre though...why not just...not listen to it? That's what I do with country instead of torturing myself with it to the point of making threads about how horrible it is. o_O

No matter what music you listen to, you can't win, because someone always has to be like...this about it. Always. It makes me sad. I wish people could just leave other people and their music alone. :(

To be fair, it's hard NOT to listen to rap. Turn on the TV or radio, and it's there. Go into a record shop...guess what's playing. At my college all I need do is walk past the common room and I hear rap or worse, bhangra, blaring out. Even good ol' video games have rap in them these days *cough*San Andreas*cough*

I don't really like rap, but if other people want to listen to it, it's not my concern.

I also DESPISE almost all forms of rap. Old school is okay, though.

Plus, i heard a censored Eminem song on the radio once and it was actually pretty amusing.

I don't like Rap either, and I do think the rap on the radio is unoringal and shouldn't be called music. It used to be ok, but I find heavy metal much better, after listeining to good metal, rap is nothing. There is a rap song I know that people listein to with the ice cream man song. O.O ok...

Rap wouldn't be so bad if they stuff they had had more thought out though. I do admit that not all metal songs are oringal, but more often then not, they're more oringal then rap songs.

Well you exactly got my point Psychotic. There's nothing I can do without being pummeled with sub-par rap that is broadcasted all over the air all the time. If underground rap is good then why don't they broadcast it? They don't have as much money or whatever but it's the musical value of things, not the money that counts. Yet again all idiots buy 50 Cent records and he makes millions out of it and were stuck listening to rap and not liking it. I don't mind rap perse, I listen to Tupac after all, the thing I hate is the values that is passes on nowadays, and the fact that it is so popular for no actual reason. Broadcast rap that makes sense and I will like it.

Actually, rap is the only genre that I think is on the verge of not being music, I hate country, but I call it music anyway, because that's what it is. But I hate having rap called music for some reason, it just annoys me, I know it shouldn't, but it does. The reason for that is probably since I have people playing it around me so often. If they didn't play it so much, I wouldn't care. I tend to take a CD player where ever I go anyway, so now, when I hear rap, I turn it on, but before, it was annoying. I live in Atlanta, home of a lot of rap artists, and I live downtown, yet I still am not inundated by rap music.

If something annoys you so much, maybe you should reconsider why it annoys you and find a way to appreciate it. Learn to take something you hate and find beauty in it. You'll be a lot happier. And if that fails, just learn to tune it out. Just like we learn to tune out the whining.

I do tune it out, I just wanted to get my feeling on rap out, just once, as I never talk about it. I'll shut up now, I hate to whine.

Rye, I feel pretty much the same way as you about the sample of Rap and Hip Hop music you seem to be familiar with. I personally think you would have a different opinion of the genres as a whole if you heard some artists that are making music for the sake of music rather than big rims on their cars and doing hoes doggystyle. My suggestions would be to listen to Prefuse 73 and perhaps Blackalicious. If you stay open minded I honestly think you might change your opinion; not on popular rap however, which is very much crap in my opinion as well.

I like rap that's about something interesting. Like Boba Fett. :D

Where I live there's an equal ratio of black and whites, and rap is a pretty common thing to hear when walking around campus. Several times a day someone drives by my apartment with the bass up loud enough to shake the pictures on my wall. That's what bugs me about rap more than anyone else, the idea that it ain't good it it ain't loud enough to hurt somebody!

Anyway, while you may not consider rap music, it is, such like Country, rythm and blues, rock and roll, and pop is.

So, yes, rap is considered music, it's just different from other genres of music. What makes rap different and unique is that the rapper uses the beats of the music, whether it is instrumental or some other form, to make a rhythm of sort with the words.

Also, I will agree that most mainstream rappers are crap, but rap music is rather brilliant. As some would say, hate the players, not the game.

Also, I may not like genre of country music, but I do appreciate it, because it's different from other genres of music. I will listen to country, but it's not my prefered choice of music I would immediately want to listen.

Of course... don't ever call it "crap music". That's the only joke moms ever have, and they can pretty much keep it for all I care.

Rap can't be crap. Think about it, rap sells millions of records, so that must mean millions of people like it. They can't all be wrong.

Your quick to generalise, yeah theres songs and people that are like that but direct that to SPECIFIC people not the whole genre in general! Listen to ols-school stuff or just tune out...

I have many favourites. All of my favourites fall under rock or alternative. I also like pop a lot too, but only talented singers of the pop category, or the type who may not be awesome singers but can play the guitar/piano and write their own lyrics and music like Vanessa Carlton. I like classic music too. And my favourite bands/artists are Evanescence, System of a Down, A Perfect Circle, Tori Amos, Christina Aguilera, Nightwish, Franz Ferdinand, The Killers, My Chemical Romance, etc. I know I'm going to be a lot of new band comments on this, but all of those bands/artists have things I think are important, like good singers, as I find good singers to be extremely respectful as I want to do something with singing one day. They write their own music. And I think their music is beautiful and inspiring. I don't think rock is just a big bunch of noise at all, unless you listen to those bands who are on Uranium on Fuse who basically just do death metal screams.

And like people said, it's not like I have a choice not to listen to it. It's shoved in my face. For someone who likes music as much as I do, it's painful to turn on the radio and find nothing because EVERY station has it on it.

Even on Fuse, which is supposedly a very rock TV channel with just rock videos, 50 Cent creeps into. So I can't escape it.

And sorry to have offended you Crash, I was just expressing my opinion. I wasn't lashing out at rap fans, more at the people who make rap. And I don't consider this thread whining either.

I like some rap. Eminem and Fresh Prince are two rap artists I quite enjoy, but there aren't many overall. Oh, The Streets. :D Mwahaha.

Rap is in all kinds of music these days, too. Pop music is full of it. TLC, for example, have a lot of raps in their music. Nobody complains about them (at least not that I know of). It's the music itself that bores me. Rap music in general tends to be very dull, and the voices of a lot of rap artists these days are lacking emotion and are just basically... blurting out lyrics. Eminem and Fresh Prince appeal to me because they actually use their voices. You can't say the same for people like 50 Cent, so I don't really like them. Boring crap in my opinion. But hey, if that's your bag, so be it.

I will agree to one thing and that is that Rap and "RnB" on the radio is piss-poor. And that many radio stations are drowned in the stuff. The loose interpretation of RnB makes me upset because anything by a black artist is now RnB. Anything invloving a rap is RnB. Hell, even Joss Stone is RnB now. And the image is shocking, with the glamourised bling bling and booties and pimps and hos.
However, that's comercialised Rap and while I appreciate the ability to Rap is A SKILL, I don't like it necessarilly.

One question. Why start a topic on "I hate rap"?? Yes you are entitled to your oppinion but there are fans out there. And Bert, Not only is that a great song its one proof that all rappers dont rap about girls asses. The only rappers I really know that do that a lot are lil john, the east side boys, and the yin yang twins...

Oh, what I'm trying to say is; I like music that I happen to like [feeling all gummy of a feeling some song gives me that can be tagged on to something in my memory/line of thinking, or something I feel is just good], and respect good music of all genres.

But I do agree about most of the blingy radio/tv stuff being just plain bad.

Considering the fact that the only real instrument that's ever heard in rap is the drums and also the fact that the same bass and snare beat is universal in the world of rap, I don't regard it as an actual genre of music.

Rap, in any way, shape or form (except rap rock, that's tolerable) is braindeath, in my opinion.

Everyone has their own choice in music. I love rap, it's one of the main genre's of music I listen to. I respect that other people have different tastes in music, I don't expect everyone to like rap and I know they don't. I think people should just realise that everyone has their own opinion and taste, for example, I don't really like alternative music, but I won't go around bashing it in general because tomorrow I could listen to a song in that genre and end up liking it.

In the end, everyone just has their own taste in music and that's that.

xD They are only a letter away; that's true whatever else isn't. Sometimes rap does get a bit samey and annoying, yes, but I don't have anything against it. Sometimes...yesh indeedy! Sometimes it can be quite nice and dancy-to. And honestly; it takes a lot of skill to be able to rap in my opinion....it's so hard! :(

I don't like rap - but rappers do have my fullest respect for what they're doing. Rappers work hard to satatisfy their fans (just like rock, pop and grunge singers). You should respect people for doing such hard work; that doesn't mean you have to like what they're doing. ;)

There are fans of pretty much everything, so if you say you dislike something in a public forum, there will always be someone who disagrees.

And I hope I don't give off one of those "I only listen to one type of music" music nazi vibes. I listen to a lot of things. I think the Black Eyed Peas are pretty cool, nothing amazing, but they have rap in it, but I like it. Same for Outkast. But they make fun music.

I tell ya, I even like Ludacris a little. The best thing about him is that he doesn't take himself seriously, he raps about random stuff and makes it even sound funny sometimes. Ever listen to Sage Francis, Mos Def, Common, Blue Scholars, CasOne, Robbery Runamuk, Cypress Hill, N.E.R.D., Black Eyed Peas, The Roots, The Fugees, etc. They all have instrumentals, and lyric wise it's all good.

Rap/ Hip Hop is easier to dance to then rock. If you try checking out the stuff besides the ones Ive listed, like not so mainstream artists they are actually pretty good. I agree that 50 cent sucks, Lloyd Banks, etc. I really hate rap that degrades woman, and just talks about stupid stuff.

I have to say that i don't like rap music that much..In fact if it wasn't Eminem i wouldn't care..

The only rappers I like are the french band from Marseille : "I AM". They're one of the few french groups who don't spend their time singing "fu... the police", "I'm a badboy, if you talk to me I'll waste your face" or "drug is cool"... :mad:

I always thought I hated Eminem but I really enjoy the lyrics to his serious songs which are entertaining to read and the catchy beat is just like a bonus to me. other artists will focus on the beat whie Eminem is more concerned with passing his message along but to each his own. I don't like rap much at all. I think the main reason why is because nowadays on TV and radio, you hear all these rap songs that deal with the same issues of "ghetto life" and a bunch of other sexual topics I don't feel like discussing here. It seems that the basic message of mainstream rap is "dress like us, talk like us, act like us.' I find that to be INCREDIBLY annoying.

I see a lot of people nowadys in my school and neighborhood who try to act like people like 50 Cent. I find that shameful. Why would you want to be a fugitive outlaw who shoots people and lives a hard life in the ghetto? Is that really somehing to aspire for?

Sure, I hear everybody here when they say that rap is an art form. I agree, to an extent. It all really depends on who your talking about. Really it's all divided into 2 categories: good rap, and bad rap. I guess the same could be said about all music types. The only thing is, nowadys rap is more popular than ever, and it doesn't show any signs of slowing down. I mean, just look at fast-food joint commercials. I see rap influenced ads EVERYWHERE on TV. It's funny too because McDonalds used to be all about happy things like family and love, and now it's all about rap and hanging out with my homz. I just wish if they were going to promote rap in such a way, that it at least be the good rap and not this other crap.

I can respect those who freestyle though, because that does take a lot of skill. Hell, i know i could never do that. But, these people who have months to write lyrics and come out with an edn product of "Yeah, uh huh, that's right' lyrics, don't seem to be really showing their true potential. Just look at P Diddy. He took "Every breath You Take" by The Police and redid the exact same song except with a couple "Uh huhs" and "Oh yeahs" over the melody. That's not original.

So it's not that I don't like rap, it's just that I don't like all the same kinds of rap shoved in my face over and over again. I even have to listen to it on my bus, which is why I whip out my CD player and try to zone it out. But it's sad that though when I'm trying to sleep at 11:00 at night and some guy comes rolling down my street with his bass cranked up listening to music. I mean, is it that hard to turn it down?

I like those rappers who try to be unique (like Eminem, Nes, and Ludacris) and I know that a lot of rock bands sound exactly the same (Green Day, Good Charlotte, Switchfoot), I guess people just need to not worry about that and just continue listening to their own types of music, no matter how much it is continually pushed in our face. It seems nowadays people are just following whatever everyone else says is good, and not looking for what actually is. I guess it's always gonna be that way though, so there's really no use bitching about it. I may not like it, but I'm not gonna start a mass-rebellion. Even if I wanted to, I'd probably get my ass whooped. :D

I do hope that one day people will sit back and ask themselves "Do i really wanna be like this? A person who aspires to be a lawbreaker? Is that my future?" and realize that that is not the way to go, no matter how long that may take. Props though to all those people who know that they don't want to be like that. That they want to be succesful, because really, don't we all?

Rap... hmmm. To me it's just like talking with a beat in the background. & I've never heard a freestyle rap that has been good. The only rapper that I see as good is Busta Rhymes.

I think that rap should be done fast, otherwise it just sounds rubbish. Busta Rhymes can rap fast, that is why I think he is good. But I don't love him, just think that he is worthy of talent in rap sense.

Rap lyrics are always the same - Some rubbish about guns, gangs, drugs, 'whores', & the like. To be honest, it's just banter.

Well for a start it depends on what you mean. Are you on about the lyrical difference?

I can definitely see where your coming from, but a lot of uncommercial rappers talk about a lot more than just girls, booties and dope and partying in a nightclub, and its not just eminem who does that, i can name loads of rap bands/rappers:
Ugly duckling
Pharcyde
busta rhymes (freestyle)
Eminem (yes)
Outkast (their albums inbetween the old and new ones, after they were too young, before they became corrupt)
Blackalicious (this guy isnt about anything meaningfull, but he doesnt rap about girls and asses he just focuses more on the sounds of his rapping rather than the meaning behind it, but hes pretty damn witty)
Nas (even though mostly shallow including in all his released singles, has some good lyrics)
De la soul (yet again, before they became corrupt)
oh and how could i forget him!!!!!!! MOS DEF (his Umi Says song is pretty much freestyle, and instead of being witty, as what freestyle is mostly supposed to be, this guy is meaningful, almost spiritual)

i do see where Rye is coming from in his initial post though, but with only the commercial rap making it through to non-rap fans, theres bound to be views similar to that yours.

Everyone seem's to be judging the whole rap genre on the mainstream stuff. Yeah, I don't like people shouting about titties and guns and being "gangsta" either, but just because that's what people buy and therefore is what's shoved down our ears by record labels wanting money doesn't mean the whole genre sucks. Music is all about what sounds good in your ear. Mainstream gangsta rap doesn't. There are lots of good rappers groups about who make good songs, Jurassic 5 stick out in my mind. Concrete Schoolyard and Hey are awesome songs. Old school stuff is brilliant, De La Soul were awesome. Hip Hop and Rap can and have been used in positive ways to bring issues forward from people who were brought up in bad places and lived through bad situations, and it's also a fine way for people to make music that's upbeat and fast and funky and good to dance to, if you like that sort of thing. I'm not particularly a huge rap fan myself, but I can see why people like it and why people make it. Unfortunately, good rappers are being lumped together with bad music, which isn't really their fault, seeing as most rap music aimed at skinny teenagers who think they're hard and that disrespecting women and shooting people is cool, because they buy it and it makes money. I saw someone mention Evanescance earlier, thats exactly the same thing, terrible whiney music marketed purely at angsty teenagers. People see it and if they don't like rock music already automatically lump all rock bands into the same catagory, which isn't fair. But if you don't like it, there is always the mute button. No need to get worked up over these things.

1) baking cakes (written by the Wu Tang, no less)
2) making a woman *censored* out of her *censored* while she *censored* (there are children around, you know)

Most rap's tight, but as far as I'm concerned, Eminem's a joke. He cheesed off everybody he came in contact with, except for Dr. Dre, 50 Cent, and D12.

When I heard the song, "Cleaning Out My Closet," that was the one thing he did that pissed me off more than anything else he did. Yeah, I've made cracks about his mother just for fun, but what he had to say to her was pure hate and inexcusable. He's the real insult to rap.

Is rap crap? It's just as crap or brilliant as one thinks it is. It's probably one of my least favourite genres, but I respect that there are people out there that like that sort of thing. So who am I to put it down? One can come up with a whole list of reasons of why any genre is "crap". Though at the end of the day, rap must have something going for it, otherwise, why would it have so many fans?

Just because you don't like something, doesn't mean it's crap. It just means that you think it's crap. Nothing more, nothing less. If you've found something that you enjoy listening to, and it just so happens to be rap, then good for you! :)

but the media is also to blame for this caus they actually control whats "in" because lots of the most famous punk bands have made a new album lately but mtv and all those TV senders just dont send play em they only play rap hiphop and rmb and sometimes hardcore so no wonder punk bands need to make comercial that sound slike crap comparing to what they normally make caus else no one but the fans will hear it.

If I know of stations that play only classical and only jazz, I'm SURE you can find something that plays what you want to hear.

Rap to me is one of the music genres I really don't understand. At least from what I've heard, it sounds like mostly people speaking fast about girls, cars and violence in a matter that doesn't bring anything new or arouse thoughts or serious discussion among people (some pop songs are like that too, no message and people just "shaking their ***es"). Okay now, I know that there are rappers who really think about what they write and want to deliver a message to people or something like that, but most songs that I've heard are just the three things mentioned above. I simply can't comprehend this genre because of that, and even more so, because it doesn't seem to have any kind of musical things in it (scratching old LP's or mixing other people's real music into your own songs, to me, is not respectful and doesn't require any talents at all), only the beat. And come on, there's more to music than a beat, right?

Hip hop culture is another thing, now that's something I can understand. It's a whole world of opinion, dance, music (yes, there's at least some music there) and clothing (which probably isn't the most important thing in anything).

To me, music means melody, lyrical aptitude and message.

Unless you listen to a 15 year old's "heavy metal" garage band, that's not true, even for the more mainstream rock. Download some Nightwish. Stargazer as a song example. It's heavier rock, but it's beautiful and is sung by amazingly talented woman. The guy in the band who writes the songs is Finnish, but even he manages to make beautiful lyrics in English, better than a lot of the artists who speak English as their native tongue.

And not even all "heavy metal" is all about screaming and noises. It might depend on how you listen to it - and for how long. I have to admit that before I had acquaintained myself with Death Metal, I thought that it was all "graaaaaaahhghghhahghahghhaarrrrr die die krhhkchkcehkhhkxhkhxkhx", but after a while, when I got used to the loudness, I found the deeper surface, with guitar melodies, solos, and even lyrics (though even now it takes some time to understand) and omg even melodies in grunting ;)
Also, it takes a lot of physical strenght and motoric skills to play the guitar or drums in the way that some of the metal players do. And I respect any player - from any genre - for talent.

I do have to agree that some rock bands, like most rappers, don't have much to say about anything and they just ring-a-ding-ding their guitars, some america rock bands (I don't know the specific genre, so I'm sorry if this sounds anti-american - it's not :o!) I really hate - whenever I see Conan O'Brien's musical guest they mostly consist of those kinds of bands. I hope you understand this point here.

But sometimes even that noisy grindcore/thrash stuff has a meaning - it's a good aggression releaser, try it, it could do good for you too to bang your head against the wall with Slayer or Rotten Sound (a Finnish grindcore band) playing in the background and you suddenly wouldn't have so much negative feelings against everyone and everything :)

One more thing, please don't mix the concept of "rock" with "metal" because they are two different things, although it is true that the metal genre once developed out of rock music but that's all. By the way, did you know that Queen and Led Zeppelin are mostly referred to as rock bands, and most people wouldn't say that their music "is just load noises with a greasy man screaming his head off".

I've got a good idea, why don't we stop having genres of music so everyone has to listen to the same thing all the time. That'll certainly make the world a more interesting place... :rolleyes2

Now, as I've stated before in this thread, rap wouldn't be one of the genres that I like listening to, but then neither would rock or metal. I don't dislike them per se, but I just don't enjoy listening to them.

I can understand how one would feel that way, but does every song out there have to have a "message" or "deep meaning"? And although I understand some people's points against rap, the one thing you can't argue, though, is that it takes heaps of talent and ability to do what those guys do. While rap is not my thing, I cannot deny that some of them are ridiculously skilful at what they do.

Please people, every musical genre has a place in music, otherwise, it wouldn't be a genre in the first place. And that genre isn't going to die any time soon, so for your well-being; either learn to live with it, or the most easy and simple solution of all; don't listen to it. :)

Before anyone bashes an entire genre of music, they must listen to more than two artists. They must become familiar with a good number of artists to form a respectable opinion. It's silly to form a judgement based on eminem and Ja Rule. It's like hating an etire race of people because two people.

My thoughts exactly. I don't always want to hear something with a deep message, either.
But then again, you can always not listen the lyrics and just listen to the music :) At least that's what I do when I don't want to think about all the sucky stuff going on in the world or other bad stuff. Just turn off the ability to understand words (is that possible :D?) or then just filter it like it's only one part of the composition (which it is, haha, silly me) and not the main point.

Meh I don't like rap. I never did. Not all rap is bad. I just generally don't like it. Yes, it's not all about *giggles* "Pimpin" and my "bitches or bi-atches". There are some rap songs with deep and profound lyrics. I just dislike the whole beat and the style.
