"All across the country, chalkboards are being ditched in favor of interactive, computer-driven whiteboards that allow students and teachers to share assignments, surf the web and edit video using their fingers as pens."
A very interesting article all about the new system schools are using as electronic whiteboards featuring interactive tech ^_^ I wish they had this when I was in school. It makes me proud also that you can see the school is using mac systems (that mac part: totally offtopic)
Take a look at whats going on (150,000 schools currently participating):

As someone who will be teaching at an elementary school in the near future, I must say that is freaking awesome.
woah monkey how did you get to the top of the post?
A long story related to the server power outage, and the clock on the server being set to an incorrect time resulting in posts getting out of order due to time differences.Quote:

Ah, so they have them already. Electronic whiteboards seemed like a good idea that eventually would go mainstream...and it's on the way to becoming mainstream.
It's all a ploy from the government to turn the youth into mindless slaves. They want to take over the world.
Electronic whiteboards rule. Even though teachers have got in trouble after students put porn on the screen.
In England, all mainstream schools have got them already
Technology is making us lazy. Teachers can't even be bothered to write anymore. I can't wait until schools stop teaching people how to write and teach students how to type instead. I would get a kick out of that.
Big Brother is coming; watch out for his teeth. They are sharp.
Yeah we've had them for a while now. The problem is the bulb starts to wear out after a while and costs a small fortune to replace. Otherwise its pretty cool, and theres nothing lazy about it. Its still mainly used for writing via the pen, much in the same way that a white/black board would be used. The only difference is that these are much more versitile.
XD Spiffy. I'm on top.
when did we ever say we were ahead? If anything Japan kicks both our arses :PQuote:

England is way far behind other countries for technology, it sucks. As for the electronic whiteboards, I say meh. As long as children learn, then whoever.
Yeah, they've got interactive whiteboards at my old school apparently.
Which, incidently, is the same school that the actor who plays Peter in the new movie remake of 'the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe'. *name drops* xD.
:D
Interactive whiteboards are fun! I've never drawn so accurately in paint! Then again, i did nearly get my fingers broken in the squabble for the interactive pen. They're fun and i like them ALOT.
I like the interactive white boards they're coolie hehe in used one in french and i won yay haha soon i shall be a master :D ..xXx...
I like how there are some public schools in the US who have enough trouble getting necessary textbooks to teach kids to read and write, but there are other schools who get ridiculous luxuries like interactive whiteboards.
*grumbles and complains*
I don't like school. :(
We wanted you guys to test them out in case they gave people cancer.Quote:

They are just the result of laziness. :)
Electronic whiteboards are a bad idea cause like 99% of the time at my school they don't work at all or they break down after just 5 minutes of using them and it's so expensive to keep them working all day everyday and plus they damage students' eye sights
hm... well im sure in some places there a faults, but as time goes on they will be perfected. and as far as eyesight goes, theres no proof of that sooo yah :PQuote:
