I'm more excited that the Olympics will be held at Beijing. I like China.
Those darn Brits
I'm sure it's nice to see people loose, even better than winning.Quote:

It's all that girl's fault from The Apprentice! If she had had an American flag in the parade of flags New York City would have been selected.
During that whole fiasco, they were hurting some small American busnisses when they said they were holding the Olympics (and they never did)Quote:

Ha ! Take that you bureaucratic surrender monkeys !!!
wooooo yay this is so nice though i'd be 22 when they happen
Originally I'd objected to our application, since I thought we had no chance of winning and that the millions spent on the campaign would go to waste. Now that we've won I'm pleased, since that money wasn't spent in vain, and the Olympics are set to double hosue prices in my area. ;)
It's an all round good thing for the UK, especially the South East and London.
yeah but i thought it would have gone to the bloody fench for a moment
what do you mean?!?! 22 is the prime of life! i'll be 27 and probally supporting a family and too busy to go :( pah *grumbles*Quote:

i dunno whther or not i'll leave the north for them yet
this is all very good for the english. yet the english aren't going to solely pay for it. scottish, welsh (but they get the football) and irish money goes into it. and who it helps? it helps people who can afford to buy a ticket and londoners (again) if anyone hs noticed london is not the centre of the uk. it's right down near the bottom. plenty of miles away from alot of the population who will be paying for it. and with new road tax thingy it will cost £100 or over just to drive down from up here. is that fair? i pay for it. it's nowhere near me. does hee haw for my country. is based purely on needs of the south of england and the rich enough to see it.
it would have been nice to hld it somewhere else other than london. somewhere more central. not in london. (like the dome, eye, bridge, major museums and galleries, stadiums etc), where we can all use it.
It was really funny seeing the French go "Ye-NOOO".
Considering that Scotland is one of the poorest areas of the UK, and the south of England the richest, I think it's safe to say a LOT more English money will go into the Olympics than Scottish money.Quote:

actually not true. cos we have the north sea oil you see. and the english have a nasty habit of stealing the tax from it for their own purposes. and yes alot of english money does go up here, how about faslane? the g8? the ghost ships? when england doesn't want something it gets shoved up here. so yep alot of english tax money going into stuff w never wanted anyway. like the nukes, the riots of the g8, those nasty ghost ships you now what to ship up here, and that lovely nuclear waste which costs alot of money to keep out of the water.
Let's get back on topic, we don't want a England vs Scotland debate (if you do, make a new thread).
I'd actually like to see that.Quote:

This isn't go to be good for the congestion in London though, is it!
the blasts in london todday serve to highlight what needs to be done if they were already not associated with the win.
it will be a great confidence shcok for all involved or planning to go.
Please, I doubt that terrorists had bombs planted in every candidate city.
And if they were planning to set off a bomb during the Olympics setting one off the day after its been announced would be a very bad idea.
Its probably just a Coincidence.
Besides it will do a great deal of good to the city and I doubt that any money spent on it will affect you in any way.
the chances are the bomb was always going to go off sometime. it's abu-hamza's trial, it's the g8. but maybe things were pished forward or held back for the olympic announcement.
it would be a warning to people. showing the huge weaknesses and showing them what can happen in 2012 if they are exploited again.
and even if it is not connected people willstill be scared of it.
...i deeply feel for those britons.... :(
poor them...
I'm happy. At first I didn't want us to get it because of the fact that I was sure our resources would be wasted...plus the idea of building an olympic diving pool in trafalger square seemed rather dumb. Build something permanant maybe?
Still...I'm glad now that we have it. Means sticking it to the French et al and feeds my imperialist ego. Plus the stadium in our town will be used for hosting forigen teams, which will do the local economy good.
I'll be 25 when it happens...but I'll hopefully be able to watch it.
Chaos
I'm suprised that we won it, London is horrible, worse now after those bombs
